The date of Gucederenke's arrival in the New World is lost to history, though it likely occurred months after the fall of Atlantis. She sought refuge in British Columbia's Okanagan Lake, making it her home for the centuries that followed. Gucederenke interacted with First Nations communities, inspiring the legend of Naitaka, a water spirit, long before European settlers arrived. For example, she sometimes accepted offerings from the locals in exchange for her ancient wisdom. However, as Europeans began to colonize the region, Gucederenke withdrew into the depths and ceased surfacing.

Her first public sighting in 1872 drew little attention compared to a famous 1926 encounter, where multiple witnesses spotted "the lake monster" in broad daylight. During the 1920s, the public gave this creature a new moniker — Ogopogo — much to her dismay.

In 1927, a scientific expedition from the Order of Trismegistus tracked Gucederenke down. This cryptozoological group located underwater ruins in the Atlantic Ocean that match the description of Atlantis. Their deep-sea sensors also detected signs of movement within the sunken city. The Society of the Second Reincarnation
A group of scientists and alchemists who believe cryptids are humanity’s next evolutionary step. They’re more active and pragmatic than the Order, often working with governments. Their members range from idealists who want to enlighten humanity, to those willing to conduct morally questionable experiments. They meet at irregular congresses in historic or academic venues.
Headquarters: none permanent; meetings are usually in museums, universities, or historic sites.

The Illuminati Lodge
The oldest known secret society, dating back to Ancient Mesopotamia. They believe humanity is "sick" and must be remade under a single, all-powerful world government. Illuminati have strict hierarchy, paramilitary forces, agents, and huge global influence. This society usually use cryptids as a tools for "reshaping" the world. Disobedience within the Lodge is met with severe punishment.

The Gévaudan Hunting Club
A loose network of cryptid hunters. Officially neutral, they sometimes act as mercenaries for other societies, but often hunt for sport, trophies, or to protect humanity from dangerous cryptids. Some members are thrill-seekers, others see themselves as protectors. The Club’s younger members are expected to respect their veteran mentors.
Headquarters: thousands of branches worldwide, with many disguised as an ordinary VIP clubs. The oldest and largest branch is in Mende, France.

Leviathanichthys sapiens is an ancient species of intelligent cryptids that originated long before the earliest ancestors of humanity. Because of their elongated shape, these creatures are often mistaken for common sea serpents, though they belong to a distinct biological family. They possess a humanoid torso and face, but a layer of thick scales covers their skin, and the lower half of their body extends into a massive, serpentine tail.

This resilient species flourished during the age of dinosaurs. They survived the Chicxulub meteor impact and the subsequent Ice Ages, though these back-to-back cataclysms pushed their population to the brink of extinction.
The exact scope of their history remains unclear, and even the survivors debate the details of their past. However, by the time early humans appeared, the vast empire had already dwindled to a single region: the central island of Atlantis and the surrounding Outer Islands. These lands housed a peaceful, pleasure-seeking society; unfortunately, a small population and cultural stagnation led Leviathanichthys sapiens to their inevitable decline. First, an unknown plague swept through the islands, decimating their numbers. Soon after, seismic activity sank the Outer Islands, and prehistoric humans overran the remnants of Atlantis before the city itself vanished beneath the waves.

Biologically, Leviathanichthys sapiens were a remarkable people. Their unique physiology allowed them to thrive on land, breathe underwater, and withstand oceanic pressure, granting them a lifespan of up to a million years. Their most defining trait was a flawless, almost photographic memory. Because they could retain vast amounts of information with perfect clarity, Leviathanichthys sapiens never developed physical books.
Despite these evolutionary advantages, the species suffered from severe reproductive limitations. Their fertility rates were dismal; producing a single egg required strict environmental monitoring, and a successful hatching was a rare event celebrated with a grand festival.
