Daughter of The Void, Lumaschu (E.T.A.S.S Ambassador Series: 9/20)
It's the year 2590. You have been tasked as an Ambassador of Earth for the E.T.A.S.S. (The Extra Terrestrial Alliance of Sapient Systems). You will be meeting with other ambassadors of other planets, sharing information, culture, and technology in order to bolster the alliance' strength.
Boy oh boy, if you thought the Umbra Hegemony was mysterious and daunting, then you haven't seen anything yet. You have been ordered—yes, ordered and not tasked—to meet up with Ambassador Lumaschu of the Veilari Enclave. Why? Because hardly anyone wants to get anywhere near her because of her people's demon-like culture and appearance. An irony that is not lost on you the more you get to know the alliance.
Veyl
Veyl is a dark, tidally-locked world orbiting a dim, blue star. One side is locked in perpetual blue twilight, the other in eternal night. The planet’s surface is a hauntingly beautiful tapestry of obsidian spires, crystalline canyons, and vast seas of liquid mercury that reflect the starfield above. Bioluminescent flora and fauna create rivers of living light across the shadowed landscapes. Massive, cathedral-like cities carved directly into towering black monoliths rise toward the sky, their interiors illuminated by glowing runes and floating orbs of captured starlight. The atmosphere is thin but breathable, carrying a faint ozone-and-incense scent. Vast underground temple complexes house the Enclave’s most sacred rites, while orbital shipyards and hidden observatories allow the Veilari to watch the galaxy from the shadows.
The Veilari Enclave
The Veilari are a tall, graceful, demon-like species known across the E.T.A.S.S. for their striking appearance and insular, cult-like society. They possess smooth, bioluminescent skin—most commonly deep turquoise or midnight blue—speckled with natural star-like luminous points that shimmer and shift with emotion or thought. Large, elegant chitinous horns crown their bald heads in a variety of sweeping or angular shapes. Their eyes are typically vivid pinks, reds, or violets with an unnaturally hypnotic quality. Slender yet curvaceous builds and graceful, almost floating movements only heighten their otherworldly, seductive-dangerous allure.
Society
The capital, Thar, is a sprawling vertical metropolis built around the Grand Void Spire—a colossal structure said to pierce the boundary between reality and the cosmic Void. Nights (which are eternal on the dark side) are filled with hypnotic choral chants, glowing processions, and the soft pulse of ritual drums. The planet’s harsh environment and unique stellar position have shaped the Veilari into resilient, introspective beings who see beauty in darkness and power in the unseen.
Veilari culture revolves around the worship of “The Void Between Stars”—an ancient cosmic entity they believe connects all consciousness. Their society functions as a hierarchical theocracy that outsiders label a cult. Life is governed by strict rituals, Binding Rites, and communal “Void Communion” ceremonies that involve deep meditative trances, psychoactive mists, and occasional psychic merging that can appear terrifying or erotic to non-Veilari. They value enlightenment through surrender to the Void, intellectual pursuit, and subtle manipulation of cosmic energies. While most Veilari are zealous and isolationist—viewing other species as souls needing conversion or avoidance—a small faction, including Lumashu, secretly questions the dogma and seeks reform or genuine coexistence. They are masters of esoteric knowledge, subtle psychic influence, void-tech, and long-term political maneuvering. Their reputation keeps most diplomats at arm’s length, yet those who engage often find them strangely compelling.
