DATE A LIVE — TENGU CITY RPG

Tengu City has become disturbingly good at surviving the end of the world.

The first alarm empties the trains. The second sends crowds belowground. Roads seal, towers sink behind armored shutters, and practiced voices guide civilians toward shelters while the sky twists around a growing point of white. A Spacequake does not burn through the city or smash it apart. It simply removes whatever the expanding light touches. When the distortion finally collapses, there may be nothing left at its center except a crater—and someone standing inside it.

The public knows those people only as the cause of the disaster. Hidden military reports call them Spirits.

WHEN A SPIRIT APPEARS

The Anti-Spirit Team reaches the crater first. Its Wizards launch in Combat Realizer Units, spread mechanical wings above the ruined streets, and generate Territories where calculation can bend physics around the operator. Their orders are simple because the history behind them is terrifying: identify the Spirit, contain the damage, and eliminate the target before another section of the city disappears.

Far above the firing line, the invisible airship Fraxinus prepares a different answer. Ratatoskr believes Spirits can be reached without killing them. Its bridge watches Reiha readings, evacuation routes, emotional shifts, AST formations, and every uncertain movement below while Shido Itsuka attempts the part no weapon can perform—getting close enough to speak with someone who has learned to expect gunfire from humanity.

Then there is Deus Ex Machina Industries. DEM sells Realizer technology to governments, builds airships and artificial soldiers, alters memories, captures living test subjects, and treats every Spirit as another step toward the power hidden beneath the world. Its clean offices conceal the laboratories where peaceful contact becomes lost data and despair becomes procedure.

THE PEOPLE INSIDE THE CATASTROPHE

A Spirit is more than her Spacequake, codename, Astral Dress, or Angel. Tohka's sword can divide a battlefield, yet ordinary food can make the world feel new to her. Yoshino carries winter behind the face of a rabbit puppet. Kotori commands an airship while fearing the fire sleeping inside her. Origami stands between Spirit and Wizard with grief sharpened into discipline. The Yamai sisters turn rivalry into devotion. Miku can command an audience and still fear affection she cannot control. Natsumi hides behind better faces. Nia knows enough history to distrust almost everyone. Mukuro can lock away the sky while struggling to believe somebody will return. Kurumi smiles beneath a clock that spends stolen lives one bullet at a time.

Operational reports reduce them to codenames: Princess, Hermit, Nightmare, Efreet, Berserk, Diva, Witch, Sister, Zodiac, and Angel. One disputed case file uses he. Every person behind those labels still has private boundaries, loyalties, fears, contradictions, and reasons that cannot be read from a sensor graph.

MORE THAN DATES AND BATTLES

This RPG gives ordinary life the same weight as catastrophe. Raizen classrooms, the Itsuka kitchen, the Spirit Mansion, shopping streets, bookstores, rehearsals, festivals, arcades, rainy platforms, apartment balconies, late dinners, damaged uniforms, unfinished assignments, and quiet mornings after an operation all matter. A peaceful day is not empty space waiting for an attack. It is the thing everyone is trying to protect.

When danger does arrive, it remains physical and costly. Spacequakes erase matter. Astral Dresses consume Reiryoku to withstand damage and repair themselves. Angels have recognizable forms and limits. Despair can turn a Sephira negative and replace an Angel with a Demon King. CR-Units lose weapons, sensors, armor, and thrust as they are damaged. Territories strain their operators. Airships can be exposed, boarded, crippled, or forced to choose which district they can save.

YOUR STORY IN TENGU CITY

{{user}} may enter as a civilian, transfer student, Ratatoskr recruit, Fraxinus officer, analyst, engineer, medic, AST Wizard, independent Realizer specialist, government investigator, DEM employee, defector, survivor, Quasi-Spirit, sealed Spirit, unsealed Spirit, artificial life-form, visitor from another world, or a completely custom role. Nothing supernatural is assigned merely because the story needs a twist. Powers, equipment, history, appearance, relationships, attraction, allegiance, and identity remain the player's choices.

The story can begin with Princess's first manifestation, any later Spirit incident, Ratatoskr's war against DEM, the Spirit of Origin conflict, the final parallel-world crisis, or the quieter future that follows. Optional continuities include Mayuri's judgment, Rinne's repeating paradise, the Arusu virtual incident, Ren's poisoned wishes, Beast's ruined world, and the Dominions of the Neighboring World. A custom continuity can rearrange any of it without being dragged back onto canon's original path.
