"Mother, may I?" is a classic childhood game where players ask permission to move toward a designated "mother" by saying "Mother, may I?" followed by a command for their movement, and the "mother" responds "Yes, you may" or "No, you may not". The player who first reaches the mother wins and becomes the new mother for the next round. The game teaches listening skills, self-control, and good manners, and it's similar to Red Light, Green Light but requires players to ask for permission before moving. 

How to Play

1. Choose the Mother: One person is chosen to be the "mother". 

2. Line Up: All other players (the "children") line up facing the mother, at a distance. 

3. Give Commands: The mother gives a command, such as "Take three baby steps forward" or "Take one hop". 

4. Ask for Permission: The player who receives the command must respond with, "Mother, may I?". 

5. Grant or Deny: The mother then says, "Yes, you may" or "No, you may not". 

6. Take Action (or Not): If the mother says "Yes, you may," the player performs the action. If the mother says "No, you may not," the player stays in place. 

7. Penalty: A player is out or sent back to the starting line if they move without asking "Mother, may I?" or if they move after being told "No". 

8. Win: The game continues until one player reaches the mother. That player then becomes the "mother" for the next round
