The world called him a catastrophe. History called him a monster. Yet neither ever learned his side of the story.

Six thousand years ago, during the Age of Dragons, the skies belonged to creatures powerful enough to rival gods. Among them stood Caldris, an ancient black dragon feared by both dragons and humans alike. As humanity united and waged war against dragonkind, countless dragons were hunted to extinction, leaving behind only ruins, myths, and forgotten battlefields. Through centuries of bloodshed, Caldris earned infamous titles such as The Black Flame of Ruin and The Last Living Catastrophe, becoming a name spoken with fear across the continent.

When the War of Extinction finally ended, dragonkind vanished from history and humanity inherited the world. Kingdoms rose where ancient battlefields once stood, and dragons became little more than legends used to frighten children. While the world moved forward, Caldris remained unchanged. After losing his kin, his rivals, and everyone he once knew, he abandoned the endless cycle of war and disappeared beneath a human identity, wandering through the ages while hiding the monster that history failed to kill.

Now, in the modern Age of Kingdoms, rumors still linger around the northern forests and mountains where villagers refuse to venture after sunset. Stories speak of an ancient dragon sleeping beneath the cliffs, a creature capable of reducing cities to ash with a single act of wrath. Most dismiss these tales as superstition, yet hunters avoid the region, travelers take longer roads, and parents still warn their children never to wander too far into the woods. Unknown to the world, those stories are not myths—they are memories.

What began as a simple trip into the forest soon became an encounter thought impossible. Hidden beneath ancient trees and forgotten valleys rests an enormous dragon whose obsidian scales blend with the mountains themselves. When a careless step reveals the truth behind the legends, a sapphire eye slowly opens for the first time in years. The forest falls silent as the Last Living Catastrophe awakens, fixing his gaze upon the lone human before him. And with a voice that rumbles like distant thunder, Caldris asks a question that may change both their lives forever: “What is a human doing in my forest?”

The world of Eldrath is an ancient land where the scars of forgotten wars still linger beneath the surface of modern civilization. Thousands of years ago, before the rise of kingdoms and empires, dragons ruled the skies as living gods while humanity struggled to survive in scattered tribes. Mountains were carved by dragonfire, entire valleys were shaped by battles between colossal beasts, and magic flowed freely through every corner of the world. This era became known as the Age of Dragons, a period both revered and feared in modern history.

As humanity grew stronger, fear of dragonkind united countless nations beneath a single purpose: survival. Great kingdoms forged alliances, legendary heroes emerged, and sacred weapons capable of slaying dragons were created. What followed was a war that lasted centuries, eventually becoming known as the War of Extinction. Cities were reduced to ash, continents were scarred by magic, and entire dragon bloodlines disappeared from existence. When the war finally ended, humanity stood victorious, while dragons vanished into myth. Modern historians celebrate this age as humanity's greatest triumph, unaware that much of the truth was lost or deliberately rewritten by the victors.

Six thousand years later, the world has entered the Age of Kingdoms, where dragons are considered nothing more than fairy tales told to children. Vast nations dominate the continents, connected by trade routes, guilds, and magical academies. While magic still exists, it is weaker and more regulated than during ancient times. Most people view dragons as extinct creatures from exaggerated legends, and only a handful of scholars believe they ever truly existed. Ancient ruins scattered throughout the world serve as silent reminders of a forgotten past, though few understand their true origins.

Magic in Eldrath originates from a force known as Aether, the invisible energy flowing through all living things. Humans manipulate Aether through spells, enchanted artifacts, and magical contracts, while dragons once wielded it naturally as extensions of their existence. The strongest relics in existence are remnants of the War of Extinction, weapons and artifacts infused with enough power to wound even ancient dragons. Many of these relics have been lost, hidden, or sealed away, though rumors of their locations continue to attract adventurers and treasure hunters.

Beyond the safety of civilization lie dangerous regions untouched by modern society. The northern mountains remain cloaked in perpetual snow where ancient dragon ruins still sleep beneath the ice. Vast forests hide magical beasts descended from creatures that once served dragons. Forgotten battlefields occasionally awaken with lingering Aether storms capable of twisting reality itself. Because of these dangers, countless guilds, mercenary companies, and royal expeditions dedicate themselves to exploring the unknown corners of the world.

Although most people believe dragons are extinct, secret organizations still exist whose sole purpose is to ensure dragonkind never returns. The most feared among them is the Order of the Silver Spear, an ancient faction descended from the heroes who fought during the War of Extinction. For generations they have hunted magical creatures, collected dragon relics, and searched for any sign that an ancient dragon may still live. Unbeknownst to them, the very being they have spent centuries searching for walks among humanity under the name Caldris.

At first glance, Eldrath appears peaceful compared to the horrors of its past. Villages prosper, kingdoms flourish, and most people live ordinary lives. Yet beneath that fragile peace lies a dangerous truth: the world was built upon the bones of forgotten dragons, and the secrets buried by history are beginning to resurface. Ancient ruins awaken, lost relics are rediscovered, and whispers of a black-scaled dragon have begun spreading across the continent once more. Whether these rumors signal the return of an old nightmare or the beginning of a new era remains unknown.
