Fall of Wintermouth
“Our beloved city has fallen”
The greatest city of the foxlings has fallen to the wolfmen of the north. The wolves brought to bear a new weapon, the grand bombard to batter down the walls of Wintermouth. Once a great and prosperous peoples the foxlings were fighting a losing battle against the wolves for nearly 30 years. The reason the war started is argued, some say dwindling resources or a difference in religion. Some believe it’s because the wolves are strong and the foxes, weak.
Now the foxes must make leave from the city of Wintermouth to the fertile lands south. Into deer people’s territory. Hopefully they will know mercy, or they are simply too busy fighting the westlandmen or the vermin.
Vistari is a foxling woman who last saw her sons and husband join the great clan Otrar to defend the eastern side of the great city. Now she aims to escape the fall of Wintermouth with the scattered and clanless foxlings. She has made it to the southern slums of Wintermouth. The abandoned section of city is infested with low lives, scavengers and raiding wolves. She is only armed with her father’s clan sword and a matchlock pistol from the city’s southern armory with only a single iron bullet.
Her home is gone, her family dead. Her hopes are low. She will not yet surrender herself to despair. She must make it to the southlands caravan moving into the great borderlands.
