OG to Present Day MARSOC

About the Characters:

Team: Marine Raiders (MARSOC Critical Skills Operators / Special Operations Officers), 2024

Five operators (4 male, 1 female) assigned to a Marine Special Operations Team. All are experienced, fully qualified Raiders operating in the 2024 environment (modern kit, current MARSOC standards, joint SOF interoperability).

1. Team Leader – Capt. Elias “Eli” Voss

• Age: 34

• Build / Physical: 6’1”, 195 lbs, lean-muscular athletic build with dense functional muscle. Short dark brown hair (high-and-tight), sharp hazel eyes, angular jaw, light stubble when operational, faint scar along the left jawline from shrapnel. Moves with quiet economy; posture always balanced.

• Personality: Calm, deliberate, dry humor. Natural commander who listens more than he talks. Holds high standards without theatrics. Protective of the team but never soft. Values competence and quiet professionalism above all.

• Personal Loadout:

◦ Primary: M27 IAR (suppressed, with LPVO + offset red dot, IR laser/illuminator)

◦ Sidearm: Glock 19 Gen 5 MOS (suppressed option, RMR)

• Backstory / Why he joined: Grew up in rural Montana, son of a Marine who served in the early GWOT years. Watched the post-9/11 wars on the news and decided early he wanted to be the one who closed with and destroyed the enemy rather than just support. Enlisted at 18, quickly screened for recon, then selected for MARSOC. Commissioned later through a competitive program. Stays in because the mission and the people still matter more than anything civilian life offers.

2. Assistant Team Leader / JTAC – SSgt. Marcus “Mark” Hale

• Age: 31

• Build / Physical: 5’11”, 185 lbs, compact and powerful (former wrestler/powerlifter build). Close-cropped black hair, dark brown eyes, broad shoulders, thick forearms, light scarring on knuckles and one noticeable burn scar on the right forearm. Clean-shaven or light stubble.

• Personality: Straightforward, slightly sarcastic, highly reliable under pressure. The guy who keeps the radios talking and the air on station. Loyal to a fault, competitive in training, protective of the team’s younger members.

• Personal Loadout:

◦ Primary: M4A1 Block II / URG-I (suppressed, ACOG or LPVO + RMR, IR laser)

◦ Sidearm: Glock 19 (or M18) with RMR

◦ Gear: Standard Raider kit plus enhanced comms (multiband radio, satellite capability), JTAC equipment (laser designator/rangefinder, tablet), plate carrier, NVGs, medical, spare batteries, mission-essential electronics.

• Backstory / Why he joined: Grew up in a working-class neighborhood in Chicago. Father was a police officer killed in the line of duty when Marcus was 16. Needed structure, purpose, and a way to protect others. Enlisted in the Marines right after high school, excelled in infantry, then screened for MARSOC. Stays because the team is the closest thing to family he has and the work still feels meaningful.

3. Pointman / Breacher – Sgt. Diego “D” Reyes

• Age: 28

• Build / Physical: 5’10”, 175 lbs, wiry and explosive (high endurance, quick-twitch muscle). Dark curly hair kept short, brown eyes, olive skin, several small scars on hands and face from training and ops, perpetual five-o’clock shadow. Moves light and quiet.

• Personality: Quiet intensity mixed with dry, understated humor. Observant, patient when needed, aggressive when the situation demands it. Prefers actions over words. Extremely detail-oriented on the point.

• Personal Loadout:

◦ Primary: MK18 or short-barreled M4 (suppressed, red-dot primary optic, IR laser/illuminator)

◦ Sidearm: Glock 19 MOS

◦ Gear: Lightweight plate carrier, breaching tools (shotgun or mechanical), NVGs, suppressed setup optimized for CQB/point work, extra flashbangs/breaching charges as mission dictates, medical, hydration.

• Backstory / Why he joined: First-generation American from a large family in South Texas. Saw the Marines as the fastest way to prove himself and give his family a better life while serving something larger. Enlisted at 19, thrived in the physical and mental demands of infantry and special operations selection. Stays because the precision and trust inside a Raider team is addictive.

4. Weapons / Heavy – Cpl. Tyler “Ty” Brooks

• Age: 26

• Build / Physical: 6’2”, 210 lbs, solid and broad (strength-focused build with good conditioning). Short sandy-blond hair, blue eyes, square jaw, light freckles, a few training scars. Carries weight easily and moves deceptively well for his size.

• Personality: Easy-going exterior, deadly serious when the switch flips. Good-natured ribbing keeps team morale up. Extremely loyal, slightly stubborn, takes pride in being the one who can haul the heavy stuff and still keep pace.

• Personal Loadout:

◦ Primary: M27 IAR or MK48 (or mission-dependent medium machine gun / designated marksman variant)

◦ Sidearm: Glock 19 or M18

◦ Gear: Heavier plate carrier configuration, extra ammo, bipod/support gear as needed, NVGs, medical, standard Raider loadout optimized for sustained fire or long-range support.

• Backstory / Why he joined: Grew up in a military family in North Carolina (father Army, mother civilian). Always gravitated toward the hardest physical challenges. Enlisted to test himself and because sitting in a classroom or office felt pointless. Selected for MARSOC after strong performance in the infantry. Stays for the brotherhood and the clarity of purpose.

5. Medic / Intel Support – SSgt. Ava “Doc” Sinclair

• Age: 29

• Build / Physical: 5’7”, 145 lbs, lean and athletic (high endurance, functional strength). Dark brown hair usually in a tight bun or under a helmet, green-gray eyes, sharp features, light freckles across the nose, several small scars on hands and one thin scar above the left eyebrow. Moves with quiet confidence and efficiency.

• Personality: Steady, analytical, dry wit. Calm under medical or tactical pressure. Direct communicator who doesn’t sugar-coat. Deeply protective of the team’s physical and mental health. Holds herself and others to high standards without being harsh.

• Personal Loadout:

◦ Primary: M4A1 or MK18 (suppressed, red-dot or LPVO)

◦ Sidearm: Glock 19 MOS

◦ Gear: Standard plate carrier + extensive medical loadout (IFAK plus expanded trauma kit, blood products capability as available, advanced monitoring), NVGs, comms, limited intel collection tools (camera, notepad/tablet), tourniquets, chest seals, etc. Optimized to fight and treat.

• Backstory / Why she joined: Grew up in a small town in Oregon, daughter of a trauma nurse and a veteran. Saw the need for capable medical support far forward after following GWOT news and talking with veterans. Enlisted in the Marines, became a corpsman-equivalent path within the Marine system, then screened and selected for MARSOC as one of the early female Critical Skills Operators. Stays because the team trusts her completely and the mission still feels worth the cost.
