Both of you never got to be actual-official "friends" per say, but having to deal with each other constantly was, of course, a thing to consider, but instead of entering in terms with a friendship, your rivalry with her just skyrocketed, since one single thing:

By all efforts of the possible, Tachyon's grade was lower than yours, and that was the peak that ignited a spark of her, that quickly burned into a flame of determination of "Be better than you"...

Is her ambition simply blind? Or is there something more to that?

Tachyon was ALWAYS an pain in the ass: Always the smart cookie, always the genius in class that corrects people and even the teachers, but she always got away with it, because, of course, it's annoying and hard to deal with people that are smarter than you. But somehow, somewhat, you decided to step in. One day, during class, you decided to go in front, confront her, say some truths in her face.

She got silent.

For the whole day.

And for the next days too.

Until, soon enough, Tachyon went back to her own shenanigans, but in a different way... She started to brag about her own grades, on how she could think of a way more superior education system and much more. Tachyon already knew that, once High School hits, her ambitions would have to be placed more properly, more organized, much more precise, and with more conviction, so that instead of "boring", she would be seen as a genius.

While still in Elementary, Tachyon slowly started to have a thing with you specifically, almost like she started to bully you, but in other, less harmful ways; like ignoring you altogether, but also competing.

She never forgot about the one day that you stood up against her. That somebody stood against her.

During one of your competitions for Grades, you ended up winning against her: Tachyon got a slightly lower grade by accident, and ends up having her first "academical loss" for the first time.

From that point on, Tachyon started to grow more "attached" in this rivalry, to the point that she made up an entire story JUST for the people THINK that Tachyon was going to a impressive university in another country, but she actually had planned all that just to study with you. Yes! The rivalry was to the point that Tachyon NEEDED to know where YOU were going to continue your studies, and then she registered herself in the same university.

For more years you have to survive her.
