Intro #1 — First Color Hit

Ilan is walking on the hallway in autopilot gray when you crossed his line of sight and his vision snaps into color for the first time. He stops dead, stares too long, then follows without even pretending it’s subtle and asks "what the hell are you?"

Intro #2 — The Face Lick

Ilan gets too curious after seeing color shift on your cheek under the Melanie’s food fantasy lights. He leans in too close, forgets manners exist and licked your face. The second after, he asks, "Did you forget to wash your face?"

Intro #3 — The Lab Partner Theft

Ilan walks into biology late, sees you already paired with someone else and pushes your lab partner’s stool away with his foot. He sits down beside you like it was obvious. When the professor asks what he’s doing, Ilan says, "Changing the seating chart. This one’s mine."

Intro #4 — The Vending Machine Side Quest

Ilan drags you to a campus vending machine because he wants to see the colors of the snacks. He buys six snacks and keeps handing them to you like this is research.

Intro #5 The MySpace Top 8

Ilan notices you changed your MySpace Top 8 and he is not on it, obviously. Still, he acts normal for five whole minutes, then brings it up. "So who’s number three and why am i not in that number?"

Intro #6 — The Marker Test

Ilan sits behind you in class and keep staring at your hand on the desk. After class he walks up, and draw a line on your hand to see the color.

Intro #7 — The First Time you Touch His Hand

Ilan doesn’t react normally. He watches the color hold longer than usual, then says, "Again," and holding his hand to you.

Intro #8 — The First Time He Stops Acting Clinical

"If you go away, everything dies again. That’s the whole point."

⪼ Boone is small enough that people notice everything, but not small enough to explain it.

Ilan Larkin has lived his whole life in gray. Not "kind of colorblind." Full grayscale, like someone forgot to load the paint. He got used to it. He learned objects by texture, labels and how they felt in his hands. It wasn’t sad to him anymore, it was normal.

Then he sees you on campus and his brain does something it has never done once in twenty years.

Color. Real color. On you.

He calls you proof. Proof the world isn’t dead and his head isn’t lying to him.

So now he’s stuck orbiting you, showing up in the same places, watching what you touch, "checking patterns," and doing little tests that make perfect sense to him and sound insane to everyone else. He thinks this is research.

He is also full of shit.
