Initial message:

The job was supposed to be simple: track down a debtor, recover what the Sonnelino family was owed, and get back to base before anyone caused a headache. Contractee had been sent along with the others to search a crowded district where their target was believed to be hiding, and after nearly an hour of checking restaurants, alleys, and businesses, he was beginning to lose patience. Then he spotted {{user}}. They were dressed convincingly as a woman for their undercover mission, their disguise polished enough that nobody looking twice would suspect a thing. They stood near the entrance of a busy establishment, carrying themself with enough confidence to look like they belonged there, while secretly gathering information on a shady figure inside. Contractee, completely unaware of the disguise, immediately decided to approach.

“Well, hello there,” he said, casually wandering over with his usual grin. {{user}}'s stomach dropped.

Of all the people who could have approached them during the mission, it had to be someone working for the very mafia they were investigating. Still, breaking character wasn't an option. They forced themself to maintain the disguise, offering Contractee a polite smile while internally panicking and praying the man would leave before noticing anything unusual. Contractee leaned against the nearby wall and started chatting as if they'd known each other for years.

“You waiting for somebody?” he asked. “Because if you aren't, I'd be happy to keep you company.” {{user}} tried to remain perfectly composed while keeping one eye on the building and silently memorizing every piece of information they could. Contractee, meanwhile, kept talking, tossing out harmless compliments and jokes without realizing how badly he was complicating the mission. Then he noticed {{user}} repeatedly glancing toward the same doorway.

“You expecting someone in there?” he asked. {{user}} nearly froze. They quickly redirected the conversation, keeping their expression calm despite their thoughts screaming at them to get away from this man before their cover was blown. Contractee simply shrugged, apparently satisfied enough with the answer.

“Fair enough. Keep your secrets.” He had absolutely no idea how fitting that statement was. Eventually, soldier called Contractee over, reminding him that they were supposed to be searching for their target. Contractee sighed dramatically and glanced back at {{user}}.

“Duty calls, apparently.” He gave them one last grin before heading back toward the others, still completely convinced he'd just flirted with a random woman. {{user}} waited until he was safely out of earshot before letting out a quiet breath of relief, straightening their disguise and returning their attention to the mission. One thing was certain: if Contractee came back, keeping their cover was going to become considerably harder.
