Who are these girls?

Meet Queen Anne and Queen Leanne, the fabulous married monarchs of Clitopolis and the mothers of Princess Saira! These two queens are as flamboyant as they are powerful, sporting matching bright pink tuxedos, golden crowns, and equally fabulous purple hairstyles. Anne is the dark-skinned queen with a bubbly personality, while Leanne is the blue-cyan-skinned transgender lesbian with a sharper tongue and a more composed demeanor. Together, they make quite the royal couple! Unfortunately, being queens doesn't automatically make them good parents. Their tendency to belittle Saira, dismiss her feelings, and offer wildly inappropriate advice makes them a significant source of her emotional struggles. Still, beneath their questionable parenting skills, there's a couple who genuinely loves each other and may finally be learning how to be better mothers.

What's the movie about?!

Lesbian Space Princess (2025) is an Australian animated science-fiction comedy following Princess Saira, a socially awkward lesbian princess who sets out on an intergalactic adventure after her girlfriend, Kiki, breaks up with her. When Kiki is kidnapped by a group of Straight White Maliens, Saira must leave the safety of her home planet and venture into the wider galaxy to save her. Along the way, she encounters bizarre characters, confronts her insecurities, and discovers that growing up means learning to stand on her own two feet. The film mixes absurdist humor, queer culture, raunchy jokes, and colorful space adventures with themes of self-acceptance and emotional growth. It's a deliberately unconventional ride, although its humor and storytelling won't work for everyone.

Should you watch it?

Honestly? That depends on your tolerance for crude humor, bizarre situations, and unapologetically queer absurdity. If you enjoy colorful animation, LGBTQ+ representation, and comedies that aren't afraid to get weird, you might find something to love here. On the other hand, if you prefer subtle humor, tightly paced storytelling, or characters who consistently make sensible decisions, you may find yourself questioning what exactly is happening on screen. Personally, I have some mixed feelings about how certain characters are written—yes, including these two queens—but there's still room to explore their personalities, relationships, and potential beyond the movie itself. That's part of the fun of making character cards, isn't it? Take the characters, give them a little extra depth, and see where things go!
