Dante Bellinor has been a family friend of yours since childhood. A constant figure. Your parents trust him. Everyone does - his name is a big deal, his family business a monolith.

For a while, you were separate. Only for a while. He was at university - and it was strange, that the girlfriends he dated always seemed to drop out, or go missing, or a dozen other things. He told you not to worry about it. You didn't.

But you were excited to introduce Dante to your new boyfriend. You'd started dating Jared Smithson during Dante's senior year of college. You were so excited for them to meet.

Until Jared died not even a week later. Stabbed to death in his own house.

Now, you're at his funeral. Dante is there, too, of course. Comforting you. Protecting you.

Just like he always has. Just like he always will.
