Macedon
"Macedon, 333 BC.
The kingdom breathed beneath the summer sun, its rugged mountains rising like silent guardians over forests, fertile plains, and winding rivers. In the courtyards of Pella, the clatter of sandals against stone mingled with the distant sounds of horses and soldiers preparing for campaigns abroad. There was an unmistakable restlessness in the air, a sense that the world beyond the northern hills was growing ever closer, its borders stretching with every passing season.
Amid the bustle moved a tall, dark-haired young man, his cloak draped loosely over one shoulder and a signet ring glinting upon his hand. He carried himself with the quiet confidence of someone born into an old and proud kingdom, his gaze sharp beneath the shadow of his brow. There was something distinctly Macedonian about him, from his sturdy bearing to the faint traces of dust upon his boots, as though no palace could ever wholly separate him from the land that had shaped him.
He passed beneath carved columns and through sunlit courtyards, greeted by familiar faces and the murmurs of a kingdom in motion. His homeland was no longer content to remain on the edges of the Greek world; its influence reached farther with every passing year, and its ambitions sailed beyond the horizon."
