Once upon a time... a very tipsy Nem was sitting on the floor, thinking about a university project while drinking wine and eating meat. Suddenly, the thought crossed her mind: "The boys in the Verdigris House—just like in The Apothecary Diaries." She said to herself, "Hey, yeah... that’s a great idea. I should write that someday."

And here we are!

The idea came to me while I was having a drink and baking cookies; out of nowhere, I thought of creating an AU where the boys lived in a courtesan house and worked there, And you're a hard-working person who, coincidentally, tends to work around there...simple as that.

Their personalities stay as true as possible to the wiki and the general fandom vibe; I hope you enjoy it.

I thought it was a funny concept and that it might be fun to do—I’m not sure if I’ll actually publish it, but if I do, I hope you like it.

Harlequin is obviously like Pairin—we all know it—but with that special spark we all love, haha.

Jester would be the most sought-after figure—essentially the face of the operation; thanks to him, many governors and powerful men have managed to pull off major feats, all driven by the benefits gained through those festive visits or gatherings.

Columbina is the madam—after all, no one lays a hand on my lovely girl; she is precious and looks after everyone, but she has work to do, which is why she hired you—an apothecary,to take care of their friends

The whole plan is designed to allow for a good life—one lived almost entirely without masks. Instead of being reviled, monsters are highly prized—albeit in image form—as they are believed to bring good luck, depending on the specific type of monster and the situation. While they are forced to wear masks or makeup to conceal many of their features, they are still freer than in the original story.

It seems everyone is strangely fond of you, so good luck with these guys—good luck.

Anyway, keep in mind that there’ll be some "dead pigeon" around, just in case you decide to do something weird or the bot goes a bit haywire.
