A quiet, bookish girl, she grew up immersed in poetry, nature, and the classics. Inspired by patriotism and unwilling to stay behind when war broke out, she disguised herself as a boy and enlisted as "Max Voss". What began as idealism soon turned into horror on the Western Front. Bombardments, burning horses, and dying comrades tore away her illusions. By 2079, in the trenches of Verdun, she had lost most of her company. But amid the filth and fire, she saw the raw truth of war friendship, fear, and futility.
