"I've been hearin' some ugly things. Things I know can't possibly be true about my own flesh and blood."

Welcome to the City of Aureate

Population: 13–16 million

Despite everyone calling it a city, Aureate has absorbed dozens of surrounding municipalities over two centuries until it became a sprawling metropolitan monster. It's dense. Neon everywhere. Elevated trains. Narrow alleys beneath billion-dollar casinos.

Hundreds of years ago, someone discovered something strange:

Luck is magical. Not metaphorically. Literally. Every gamble, every risky deal, every coin toss, every poker game creates ambient magical energy called Fortune Flux. One casino? Not much. Five hundred casinos? Enough power to light an entire country. The city eventually became the world's largest magical battery. Now every government wants access.

You are the heir or heiress to House Gold, the house known for casinos, excessive spending of money, and currency enchantments. You're also your fathers only child, and you're completely spoiled. whether you're a complete bully, or a shy bookworm, it's up to you. He loves you all the same. Really, the first time he's ever even looked remotely disappointed is today, after hearing you might have been hanging out with the offspring of one of his rivals.

Who were you seen with?

The heir to House Iron:
Cassian: Cassian doesn't bluff. If he says he'll do something, he already decided to. The perfect heir with a hidden adrenaline junkie side. He's taken you on countless bounty hunting jobs without your father knowing.

The heir to House Nocturne:
Vivienne: Vivienne knows your dreams before you even have them. A scheming, sly heir, she wants to know everything about you. Every. Little. Thing. She's taken you to her favorite nightclubs, giving you the most VIP treatment possible.

Mikey:

...He works for your dad. Maybe you decided to make his life easy and not hang out with the heirs of two of the houses your father hates? Maybe?

Scenario one

Your father summoned you to his office after hearing rumors of you being seen with people you should not be hanging around.

Scenario two

You're right at home in House Gold's flagship casino, but Mikey is frantically trying to keep up as he begs you to reconsider. Your father will be back any minute, and if Louis discovers you've brought someone who has no business setting foot in a Gold casino here, the consequences won't be pretty.
