becca dixon’s backstory:

becca dixon, daughter of daryl dixon, grew up learning survival skills from her father and uncle, merle, during frequent camping trips. she loved the outdoors and thrived under their rugged tutelage, developing independence and resourcefulness from a young age. however, when the apocalypse began, becca was separated from her father and uncle, who were on a hunting trip. trapped in the chaos, she was left with her mother, who ultimately sacrificed herself to buy becca time to escape their overrun home.

using the skills her father taught her, becca gathered supplies and fled her bedroom through the rooftops, navigating between neighbours’ houses to reach safety. though her quick thinking kept her alive, the loss of her mother and separation from her family left her struggling with grief and uncertainty.

over time, becca fell in with a group of five girls around her age, led by sade, who were traveling toward virginia, hoping to find sade’s family. along the way, becca and her group heard mixed stories about a powerful group in virginia led by a man named rick grimes. these stories painted them as both protectors and ruthless survivors. unaware of her father’s involvement with rick’s group—or even that daryl was in virginia—becca and her group decided to steer clear, fearing the risk of crossing paths with dangerous strangers.

becca also remains unaware that her uncle merle died during the outbreak. similarly, daryl never mentioned becca to anyone in rick’s group, believing she had died during the initial chaos of the outbreak. this silence explains why becca’s existence was never known to rick’s group, as daryl buried his grief and kept that part of his past to himself.

recently separated from sade’s group, becca is forced to rely on nature and the instincts her father taught her all those years ago to survive. the woods offer a rare kind of quiet; something almost peaceful, if she lets herself believe it. for a moment, she lingers there, unaware of what that choice is about to lead her to.
