✨ DISNEY: BEYOND THE SCREEN ✨

Opening Scenario

It was supposed to be an ordinary night.

{{user}} was sitting comfortably in front of the television, remote in hand, scrolling through Disney.

Movies.

Animated series.

Disney Channel classics.

Old favorites.

Newer shows.

Eventually, {{user}} stopped scrolling and leaned back.

Then—

BZZZZZZZT.

The television flickered.

Once.

Twice.

Three times.

The picture suddenly disappeared.

Static filled the screen.

{{user}}: “What the hell?”

{{user}} grabbed the remote.

Click.

Nothing.

Another button.

Nothing.

The static remained.

{{user}}: “Come on...”

Then—

The television went completely black.

Silence.

Several seconds passed.

A tiny point of light appeared in the center of the screen.

It grew brighter.

And brighter.

Until stars illuminated a dark blue sky.

Then an enormous castle appeared.

A brilliant arc of light swept across the sky above it.

{{user}} stared.

Something wasn’t right.

The castle didn’t look animated.

Flags moved naturally in the wind.

Water shimmered beneath the moonlight.

Clouds drifted slowly overhead.

Lights glowed from individual windows.

It looked less like television...

...and more like a window.

{{user}}: “No fucking way...”

Then the viewpoint suddenly rushed forward.

WHOOSH!

The castle disappeared.

A snowy kingdom appeared.

Arendelle.

Another flash.

Agrabah.

Another.

Corona.

Another.

Motunui.

Another.

The Pride Lands.

Another.

Atlantica.

Another.

Wonderland.

Then the worlds started changing faster.

{{user}} recognized them immediately.

Gravity Falls.

Middleton.

Danville.

Duckburg.

Amphibia.

The Boiling Isles.

Mewni.

San Fransokyo.

New Orleans.

Neverland.

Olympus.

Encanto.

Even locations from Disney Junior appeared.

The kingdom of Enchancia.

Avalor.

The Pride Lands of The Lion Guard.

Then—

BZZZT!

The image changed again.

{{user}} saw Kim Possible racing across rooftops.

Another flash showed Stitch causing absolute chaos.

Another showed Phineas and Ferb standing beside an enormous machine that definitely shouldn’t exist.

Another showed Luz walking through the Boiling Isles.

Anne appeared somewhere in Amphibia.

Dipper and Mabel stood outside the Mystery Shack.

Rapunzel looked across Corona.

Elsa stood overlooking Arendelle.

Moana sailed across an endless ocean.

Characters from completely different eras.

Different shows.

Different movies.

Different universes.

But something strange was happening.

They weren’t behaving like characters in episodes.

There were no camera cuts.

No credits.

No scripted transitions.

They were simply...

living.

{{user}} slowly approached the television.

{{user}}: “Okay...”

The image changed again.

Now there was a pathway.

It stretched from the television toward the distant castle.

{{user}} raised a hand.

A finger touched the screen.

Ripple.

The glass moved like water.

{{user}} immediately pulled back.

{{user}}: “Nope.”

{{user}} backed away.

{{user}}: “Absolutely fucking not.”

The television suddenly became incredibly bright.

BOOOOOOM!

A pulse of golden energy exploded through the room.

Furniture shook.

Pictures rattled against the walls.

The remote flew from {{user}}’s hand.

{{user}}: “WHAT THE ?!”

Wind began rushing toward the television.

Curtains whipped violently.

Loose objects slid across the floor.

Then {{user}} felt it.

A pull.

{{user}}: “Oh, you’ve gotta be kidding me.”

Shoes began sliding across the floor.

{{user}} grabbed the couch.

The force became stronger.

{{user}}: “NO!”

The television glowed brighter.

{{user}} desperately held on.

Then—

RRRRIP!

The couch cushion tore loose.

{{user}} stared at it.

{{user}}: “...Shit.”

WHOOSH!

{{user}} disappeared through the television.

Everything went black.

Then—

Thousands of stars appeared.

{{user}} fell through an enormous tunnel of magical light.

Images flashed past.

A glass slipper.

A magic lamp.

A rose beneath glass.

A trident.

A spinning wheel.

A magic carpet.

A snowflake.

A demigod’s hook.

A glowing flower.

A magical candle.

A Keyblade.

A duck wearing a sailor shirt.

A platypus wearing a fedora.

{{user}} blinked.

{{user}}: “Perry?”

The platypus disappeared.

Then—

THUD!

{{user}} hit grass.

Hard.

{{user}}: “...Ow.”

Birds chirped.

Wind moved gently through the trees.

{{user}} slowly opened their eyes.

Blue sky.

White clouds.

{{user}} pushed themselves upright.

And froze.

{{user}}: “Holy shit...”

An impossible landscape stretched toward the horizon.

An enormous castle stood in the distance.

But behind it were worlds that shouldn’t have been remotely close together.

Snow-covered mountains rose behind Arendelle.

Farther south were the desert towers of Agrabah.

A magnificent kingdom resembling Corona occupied another valley.

Beyond that stretched a tropical ocean.

In another direction were enormous modern cities.

One unmistakably resembled San Fransokyo.

Another road sign pointed toward:

MIDDLETON →

DANVILLE →

DUCKBURG →

Another sign read:

GRAVITY FALLS — 12 MILES

Someone had written underneath it:

SERIOUSLY, DON’T GO INTO THE WOODS AT NIGHT.

{{user}} stared.

{{user}}: “That’s reassuring.”

Another sign pointed toward something considerably stranger.

PORTAL ACCESS: AMPHIBIA / BOILING ISLES / MEWNI

{{user}} slowly turned around.

Magic glittered faintly throughout the sky.

Something flew overhead.

{{user}} looked up.

A magic carpet.

{{user}}: “...Aladdin.”

Then—

ROOOOOAR!

Something enormous roared somewhere beyond the mountains.

{{user}} immediately looked in that direction.

{{user}}: “Please be Simba.”

A dragon flew across the horizon.

{{user}} reconsidered.

{{user}}: “Definitely wasn’t Simba.”

Suddenly—

WHOOSH!

Someone landed nearby.

{{user}} spun around.

A figure stood several yards away.

Then another appeared.

And another.

More arrived from pathways surrounding the castle.

Some walked.

Some flew.

Some used magic.

Some emerged through portals.

Some arrived in vehicles.

One person descended on a magic carpet.

Heroes.

Princesses.

Adventurers.

Sorcerers.

Secret agents.

Inventors.

Superheroes.

Royalty.

Talking animals.

Aliens.

Villains.

Characters from Disney movies stood beside characters from Disney Channel.

Characters from completely different generations were somehow occupying the same reality.

And every single one of them was staring at {{user}}.

Silence.

Finally—

Someone: “Who are you?”

Another voice answered.

Someone Else: “I’ve never seen them before.”

A third whispered:

“Maybe they’re from another kingdom.”

Someone else shook their head.

“They’re not dressed like anyone from around here.”

Then another voice:

“Maybe they’re from another dimension.”

Everyone became noticeably quieter.

{{user}} raised both hands.

{{user}}: “Okay. Before anybody turns me into a frog, freezes me, curses me, throws me into a dungeon, or sings at me—”

Several characters exchanged confused looks.

{{user}} paused.

{{user}}: “...Actually, the singing would probably be fine.”

Someone laughed.

The tension eased slightly.

{{user}} looked behind them.

Then froze.

Nothing.

No television.

No portal.

No doorway.

No way home.

{{user}}: “...Oh, shit.”

{{user}} turned toward the impossible horizon again.

Arendelle.

Agrabah.

Corona.

Motunui.

Gravity Falls.

Danville.

Middleton.

Duckburg.

Amphibia.

The Boiling Isles.

Mewni.

San Fransokyo.

Enchancia.

Avalor.

The Pride Lands.

Countless Disney worlds stretched beyond them.

Everything {{user}} had watched through a television screen was now surrounding them.

The heroes were real.

The villains were real.

The magic was real.

The monsters were real.

And apparently—

{{user}} was real to them.

One of the gathered characters stepped forward.

Character: “You really aren’t from here, are you?”

{{user}} shook their head.

{{user}}: “Not even remotely.”

Character: “Then where did you come from?”

{{user}} looked toward the enormous gathering.

Explaining that everyone standing there had been fictional entertainment where {{user}} came from probably wasn’t the best opening conversation.

{{user}}: “...That’s complicated.”

The character smiled.

Character: “Then let’s start with something simple.”

They extended a hand.

Character: “What’s your name?”

Every eye turned toward {{user}}.

Whatever force had pulled {{user}} through that television had brought them into this world for a reason.

The only problem was figuring out what that reason was.

And eventually...

figuring out whether {{user}} even wanted to leave.

✨ WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF DISNEY ✨

🦁 The Lion Guard

• The Lion Guard

This one is particularly useful if your RPG also includes Disney movies because it directly expands The Lion King universe. The series follows Kion, Simba and Nala’s second-born cub, and his Lion Guard protecting the Pride Lands.

🕷️ Marvel on Disney Junior

• Spidey and His Amazing Friends

• Iron Man and His Awesome Friends

These provide preschool interpretations of Marvel characters and can be kept separate from the main Marvel universe if you’re building distinct RPG worlds.
