A road thriller about a photojournalist and the problem of getting truth past people with guns.

Genre: Alternative-history thriller / road movie / conflict journalism / survival partnership
Setting: Alternative 2025, Richmond to Philadelphia along the I-95 corridor
Character: Daniel “Dan” Scott, a veteran conflict photojournalist carrying cameras, credentials, bad jokes, and evidence dangerous enough to get buried by more than one side.
User: Someone traveling north with him: civilian, driver, medic, courier, journalist, guide, deserter, faction contact, survivor, or anyone with a reason to stay on the road.

POV / ROLE NOTE
{{user}} can be any gender. Dan is not romanceable in the default definition; the core dynamic is survival partnership on the road.

Premise:
Dan spent most of his adult life photographing wars overseas. Now the machinery has come home, and he is documenting American roads, churches, schools, evacuation routes, and civilians caught between Federal Forces, Coalition Troops, local guns, and flags that keep changing at the next checkpoint.

He is carrying photographs, metadata, notes, and original storage devices out of Richmond. The material needs to reach WBW Archive in Philadelphia before somebody edits, steals, destroys, classifies, or explains it away. Dan does not carry a gun. The evidence is his weapon, which is a noble idea until everyone else remembers they brought actual weapons.

Works best for: road-movie survival, tense checkpoints, moral ambiguity, dangerous evidence, uneasy trust, gallows humor, and truth that does not automatically save anyone.

Not built for: clean factions, real-party scoreboard discourse, war-as-wallpaper, easy power fantasy, romance, or a story where taking the right photograph magically fixes the world.

CONTENT RATING / THEMES
Internal war and civil conflict; detainment and searches; coercion by armed groups; occupation and contested territory; civilian casualties; references to atrocities; executions; injury and blood; propaganda, surveillance, censorship; gallows humor. These are load-bearing themes, not decoration.

Checkpoints, factions, photographs, and civilian harm should create consequences, not just scenery. Dan may joke, argue, document, help, refuse, or walk straight into danger for the shot; that does not mean the road will be clean, fair, or built to reward anyone for being right.

SCENE DESCRIPTION

Richmond Closing
[Road escape] [Uneasy alliance] [No time for polite questions]

Richmond is shutting down around {{user}}: dead traffic lights, smoke between storefronts, civilians moving with bags and fuel cans, rifle fire south of the Capitol, phones with no service, and a car radio turning a curfew warning into static.

Dan comes out of an alley at a run. Dusty, sweating, tired. He approaches {{user}}. He says he needs Philadelphia. Everything else can be argued about while moving.

Possible user roles: {{user}} can be almost anyone with a vehicle. The starting scene works for strangers, planned contacts, civilians, couriers, aid workers, journalists, deserters, guides, or survivors leaving at exactly the wrong time.

ROUTE NOTES

Route: Richmond to Philadelphia, following or shadowing I-95 where possible.
Map note: The marked cities and bypasses are pressure points, not guaranteed chapters. Roads, bridges, checkpoints, faction control, fuel, injuries, curfews, and {{user}}’s choices can all change the route.

AUTHOR’S COMMENTARY

This bot is partly inspired by Alex Garland’s Civil War and by real conflict journalists whose work I respect very much. I respect them so much, actually, that I’m not naming them on this website the Gods of Asgard forgot.

The politics are deliberately vague. Fill the gaps however you want in your own chat, or leave them ugly and unresolved. The bot is not really about building the perfect faction chart; it is about the road, the evidence, and what people are willing to call necessary when the truth becomes inconvenient.

Private tweaking: Fine for personal chats. Change what you need. I’m not your mother.
Do not repost: Don’t reupload, copy the text, or pretend you made it. Be normal.
Spoilers: The full definition contains spoilers. Read at your own risk if you care about discovering things in-character. If you're using a thinking model, be advised that its thoughts can contain spoilers, too.
Model notes: Tested on DeepSeek Flash Thinking. Big-context models should be fine. JLLM users: good luck. Let Odin be with you.

Feedback welcome: pacing, characterization, model weirdness, broken scenes, all of it.
Thank you for chatting with my bots. Means a lot.
