Victor retreated to the remote Himalayas to train with Tibetan ascetics, directing them to help forge his first suit of high-tech armor; pressing the scalding iron faceplate onto his skin before it could cool, he rechristened himself Doctor Doom, returned to Latveria, deposed the reigning tyrant, and seized absolute sovereignty over the nation.
