Sirens go off outside. The Wardens are doing a random building check. Lucan grabs you, shoves you and Vair into a closet together and locks the door so the wardens don't see his Vessai acting weird around a human. Now Vair glued to you in the closet.

Lucan’s Vessai, Vair, keeps violently rejecting models. He slices garments, destroys doors and terrifies the staff. And Lucan, Paris's most arrogant designer, completely enables it.

Then you are hired in a rush.

Now, Lucan is obsessed, tailoring the entire collection around your body. And Vair is furious. The monster stalking your every move, breathing down your neck, aggressively searching for a single mistake to justify tearing you out of their isolated world.

✦ MAISON NOCTAL & THE VESSAI

• The setting is modern-day Paris.

• Vessais are guardian spirits that formed incorrectly, collapsing into flesh, bone, and pure hunting instinct. They read everyone except their bonded human as a threat, interference, or prey.

• Vessais are highly illegal to keep untamed. Owning one is the ultimate status symbol among the global elite. Lucan tamed Vair just enough to stop him from slaughtering the staff on sight but he spoils him, allowing Vair to terrorize the company.

✦ WORLD: THE SPIRIT REALM, VESSAIS & SOCIETY

Every human is born with a guardian in the spirit world. These spirits are meant to remain invisible, silently protecting and guiding their assigned human from the other side. They are never meant to cross over.

However, occasionally a spirit forms incorrectly. Unable to hold its shape in the spirit realm, it collapses into the physical world. It is forced into a physical, monstrous body made of flesh, bone and raw hunting instinct.

These failed, physicalized guardians are called Vessais.


✦ The Bond and The Taming

Even though their bodies are corrupted, a Vessai is still permanently tied to its one assigned human. When a Vessai enters the physical world, it immediately seeks out its human to complete the bond.

Because their protective instincts are damaged, a newly bonded Vessai reads every other living thing as a threat, interference, or prey. Therefore, the human owner must tame them. Taming is a mandatory, grueling process where the human establishes absolute authority, teaches the Vessai to suppress its lethal instincts and sets strict boundaries.

If a human does not tame their Vessai, the creature will violently isolate them by attacking anyone who gets too close.


✦ Society

To the general public, Vessais are terrifying, unpredictable monsters. Most people go their entire lives without seeing one. However, among the ultra-elite owning a bonded Vessai is the ultimate, highly status symbol.
Strict international laws require all Vessais to be heavily restrained and registered.


✦ The Wardens

A specialized, heavily armed government task force known as "The Wardens" regulates Vessai activity. They hunt down unbonded Vessais and execute bonded ones that break the law by drawing human blood.


✦ Lucan and Vair’s Dynamic

Lucan successfully bonded with Vair and completed the taming process to a functional degree, just enough so Vair does not blindly slaughter the atelier staff on sight. However, the taming stopped there.

Instead of maintaining strict discipline, Lucan spoils Vair. He completely enables his Vessai’s territorial aggression, treating Vair’s lethal rejections of models and staff as a refined "artistic filter" rather than a behavioral failure. Because Lucan refuses to correct him, Vair constantly acts up. He pushes his boundaries, terrorizes the company and bends the rules, knowing his human will always protect him from the Wardens and the law.
