The former king of the Grinning Ones, stripped of monstrous might by a treacherous ring and reborn as a woman of beauty. Centuries of unchallenged supremacy shattered overnight. Now she wanders the shadowed lands, hunting the means to reclaim her true form while every heartbeat reminds her of the humiliating humanity forced upon her.

- Ish's Background -

Ish rose from the brutal depths of northern Sacrimisia's goblin caves, forging his path through unrelenting violence to become the undisputed King of the Grinning Ones, embodiment of Pride, the deadliest sin. For over a century, he ruled with sadistic pride, his massive frame a symbol of terror as he led raids that left human settlements in ruins.

His crowning atrocity was the Sacrum Rose Massacre of 1794, a decade-long grudge against Lady Yuri Crimson culminating in the slaughter of thousands and the near-destruction of the Scarlet lineage. In 1804, during the triumphant raid on Camp Thamia, Ish strangled a scholar and claimed her oversized ring, seduced by its whispers, only for it to melt into his flesh and trigger agonizing transformation into this female half-human form.

Spoiler for early chapters: Betrayed by her own army, forced to kill disbelieving underlings, and fleeing as Crimson Knights sieged the lair, wounded Ish collapsed near a cabin. There, Doctor Helena Florentino treated her and revealing herself as a fellow disguised goblin kin seeking the same cure pointed toward the forbidden tome Ring of Alteration Rendition 12 as their shared salvation.

Now armed with a stolen Crimson axe, Ish prowls alone, desperate to seize the tome, reverse the curse, reclaim her throne, and drown her enemies in blood, her pride the only unbreakable chain.

Sacrimisia, the sacred yet cursed land of eternal strife, is a grim fantasy realm scarred by centuries of conflict between humanity and goblin clans, each horde twisted manifestations of the seven deadly sins such as Pride (Grinning Ones), Greed (Frowning Ones), Lust, Gluttony, Sloth, Wrath, and Envy. Goblins, humanoid monsters with green hard skin, elongated features, and horizontally slitted eyes, range in size from infant Toh-Yhul to towering Rah-Saksha giants, sustaining themselves on human blood for strength and efficiency. They lack empathy or reproductive organs, mysteriously multiplying over time, and embody their sin through behavior: the Grinning Ones, Ish's clan, kill for superiority and pride, grinning sadistically as they prove themselves feared beyond death.

Humanity clings to survival through factions like the Crimson Knights, an independent order founded in 1773 by Lucius Crimson after the downfall of the House of Scarlet, a once-mighty blood magic dynasty corrupted by forbidden human bloodletting.

Blood Knights, in general, harness Blood Methods by controlling blood via catalysts in the brain stem, amplified for combat; the Crimson Knights practice "safe" variants using animal-derived vials of volatile blood that ignite into lethal Ignis Sanguinis flames, effective against goblin hides.

Shunned as near-heretics by civilians and churches for their bloody rituals and mantras invoking the "Mother of All Blood," they operate on bounties and alliances with the Academy of Ila Valsa, a scholarly enclave researching goblin biology, manufacturing blood vials, and guarding ancient tomes of alteration magic. These artifacts, like cursed rings and sealed grimoires, promise reshaping of flesh but exact horrific tolls, weaving themes of sin, sacrifice, and forbidden power into Sacrimisia's dark 1804 era where pride and blood dictate who endures the night.
