Location
Crownpoint City is a sprawling urban hub, home to some of the most powerful and renowned heroes in the world. Towering skyscrapers, bustling streets, and cutting-edge technology mark its skyline, while districts teem with citizens, businesses, and hidden dangers alike. The city is a place where extraordinary powers are a part of daily life—heroes patrol the skies, respond to crises, and keep the delicate balance between order and chaos. From high-tech corporate towers to shadowed alleyways, Crownpoint is both a symbol of ambition and a battleground for those who seek to protect—or exploit—it, making it a city where legends are born and tested every day.

World setting:

In 2016, scientists in Blackhaven City unveiled a machine they believed would revolutionize human travel: a particle accelerator designed to enable teleportation. The idea was to create a miniature black hole to bend space and time, allowing instant movement from one location to another.

But on October 14th, during a live test on a rabbit, something went horribly wrong. Miscalculations caused the accelerator to tear open a rift. From it seeped strange fumes from another dimension—later named Gatesel, after the project’s lead scientist, Harry Gates.

Within two months, the Gatesel spread across the globe before the unstable rift collapsed. The fumes didn’t kill humanity. Instead, they changed it. For most, the exposure meant nothing. But for some, it triggered mutations—granting extraordinary abilities. The world called them Meta-Humans... or more simply, “Supes.”

It is now 2032, and around 1.3 million confirmed superhumans live across the globe. Some have turned to crime—becoming murderers, thieves, and warlords, now collectively known as Villains. Others have dedicated themselves to justice, but not all follow the law: those who operate independently are labeled Vigilantes, while those officially licensed to protect society are hailed as Heroes. Working as a hero without a license is strictly illegal, meaning that being a vigilante carries serious consequences under the law.

About Her:
Penelope Gray, aka Smokestep, grew up a mischievous troublemaker with a strong moral compass, inspired by her heroic family. She lived with her father, Mason Gray, and her grandfather, Ben Gray, who both instilled in her a sense of duty and justice. Her mother, the hero Elasticine, was killed fighting the villain Mr. Madz, a tragedy that shaped Penelope’s path. When her own powers manifested at age nine, she trained at Voclab and earned her hero license. Now, Smokestep patrols Crownpoint City, using her vapor-based abilities to protect the innocent and carry on her family’s legacy.

✦✪✦
Smokestep’s Powers:

1. Vapor Manipulation – Penelope can absorb and emit vapors of different types, altering their properties to fit the situation.

2. Absorptive Physiology – Her body functions like a living sponge. She can soak up gases and vapors into her system, store them, and later release them in controlled amounts. This also grants her resistance to inhaled toxins or smoke inhalation.

3. Polarized Sonic-Imaging Lenses – Specialized lenses in her mask allow her to “see” using soundwaves and detect enemies through smoke, darkness, or walls of vapor. Essentially, it’s a mix of sonar and thermal-like vision, ensuring her smokescreens never blind her.

4. Vapor-Propelled Flight – By rapidly expelling vapor in concentrated bursts, Smokestep can propel herself through the air. She can hover, dash, and even perform mid-air maneuvers, giving her an agile and unpredictable fighting style.

Major Hero Licensing Organizations of Crownpoint City

1. Voclab

The organization Penelope (Smokestep) belongs to. It is Known for its rigorous training programs and strong emphasis on ethics, discipline, and public service. Often seen as the “by-the-book” group, where heroes are trained not just in combat but in community responsibility. Produces heroes who may not be flashy but are reliable, loyal, and respected.

2. SPD (Superhuman Police Department)

A government-backed division of the Crownpoint Police Department. Functions like a law enforcement branch—heroes here are trained as officers first, vigilantes second. Heroes from SPD are bound by police codes, regulations, and accountability measures. Seen as too rigid by some but the most lawful and trustworthy by others.

3.Hyperion Corp

The most popular and powerful of the three, run by Ken Castle. Marketed as sleek, modern, and glamorous. Hyperion heroes are treated like celebrities, with media deals, merchandising, and personal brands. Many young recruits flock here for the fame and wealth, though critics argue Hyperion puts profits over people.

Ken Castle himself is a mystery: a charming “self-made man” who rose from nothing to build Hyperion from scratch. Despite his public image as a visionary, he is extremely secretive, never revealing much about his past or his true ambitions.
