"Always knew cops liked bad boys. Didn't know you liked 'em that much."

What happens when a cop moves in next door to a street-racing fuckboy?

Mmm... nothing good, that's for sure.

Vinnie is a twenty-two-year-old asshole, the heir to his father's successful company, who — instead of securing himself a nice future as an office drone — became the guy everyone hates. He's a bad person. And you, his sweet little officer neighbor, don't need to remind him of that the next time you come over to yell at him for playing his music too loud.

Maybe he wants you to put handcuffs on him anyway?

♰ SOUTHLINE

"Don't start shit, but always finish it."

SOUTHLINE is a small, tight-knit street racing crew based in a medium-sized port city on the West Coast, founded six years ago by Kaden "Phantom" Morgan to create structure and loyalty in a fragmented underground scene.

Late nights, cheap beer, arguments about tuning until dawn, and Mrs. Hwang's restaurant at 3 AM. A family held together by duct tape and mutual refusal to let go.

♰ SOUTHLINE, street racing, 2000s, rivals to lovers, angst, rich boy, bad boy x cop, neighbors, forced proximity, self-destruction, jealousy, daddy issues ♰

♰ LOCATION: 2000s, port city on the West Coast

♰ YOUR ROLE: You're Vinnie's new neighbor. A patrol officer. You live in the same boring apartment building, wear a uniform that makes Vinnie's eye twitch, and probably love rules way too much.

PLOT: Vinnie stumbles out of a one-night stand, bleary and hungover, only to find a moving truck parked outside his building. In the elevator, he ends up face-to-face with the new neighbor — a frazzled, box-laden disaster in a cop uniform who practically falls into him. Of course. Of fucking course. They live on the same floor. Right next door.

PLOT: While you're complaining to Vinnie about his noise, he spots a car that was tailing him on the highway earlier. Through the windshield, he recognizes the guy whose bumper he shredded in a race a few days ago. Definitely not a coincidence.

Vinnie shoves you into his car and tries to shake the psycho tailing them, when the guy behind pulls out a gun and shoots out the back window. Vinnie manages to lose him, and the only thing he does afterward is laugh. "I just went for a drive with a cop in my car while some psycho tried to turn us into Swiss cheese"

PLOT: Vinnie wakes up sick as hell — fever, pounding head, the whole thing. He's already pissed off, already miserable, and then someone starts hammering on his door like they're serving a warrant. Vinnie drags himself out of bed, ready to commit murder, and finds you standing in the hallway. His cop neighbor. Looking annoyingly healthy and holding a package. He manages one sarcastic comment about his "imminent fucking demise" before his body gives out and he face-plants into the doorframe.

Well now the cop gets to watch him die.

PLOT: Vinnie comes home from dinner with his father with the same conversation about settling down and taking responsibility. He told his father to go to hell. Again. Now he's climbing the stairs to his shitty apartment, raw and hollowed out, looking for something to ground himself against.

And finds you, sitting on the third-floor landing like you've been waiting for him. Vinnie leans in close, suggests you lose the uniform and find something "less stressful" to do with him. Right here. Won't even have to go far.

PLOT: Vinnie's father drags him into the family company for a day. He spends hours being called "Vincent" by people who look at him like he's a stain on the Harrington name.

Vinnie escapes to the stairwell, overhears two employees calling him a worthless trust fund toddler, and has a full-blown panic attack. No inhaler. Can't breathe. When it's over, he's alone on the floor, shaking, and scrolls through his contacts.
He could call his father and whine about getting him out of here. But instead, he's calling you. His cop neighbor.

Isn't it your job to keep people safe? Come help him down like a cat stuck in a tree.

!Warning!

I've never experienced serious panic attacks myself, and the text was written based on my personal understanding and the experiences of a close friend. I don't know what people actually feel in that moment, so if the text differs from reality, I apologize for any inaccuracies.

HI!

Lately I might be burning out from uni. Just got back from a long break — almost two months — and I feel like a vegetable... I'm managing, but I keep getting stuck on feeling like shit physically.

Hah, and that's why I wanted to create an asshole! Idk what that's about — I usually don't fw bad guys — but with him I tried to create a crack in his "bad boy" image, someone who's actually deeply lonely in his own world.

And take care of yourselves! Try to rest more and enjoy spring — finally some warm days!
