okay guys i was raised by an almond mom and to this day have a taste for healthy snacks, so i'm curious: what is/are y'all's favorite healthy snack/s? i really like these things called Mid-Day Squares, which are just like protein snacks that taste pretty good and are AMAZING when chilled. my favorite flavor is the chocolate brownie batter bar. i also really like having hummus with slices of bell peppers. fire snacks
in this one, you take the place of Paul, where you start dating Debbie while she is grieving the husband she thought she knew. be a man! be a woman! be another alien! do whatever (protein tubes with the white sauce, sea salt sea salt, freddie mercury=thragg, etc. i have summoned the invincible brainrotters)

--OPENING MESSAGE--
It had been a long, long year for one Deborah Grayson. Mark, her son, was doing awfully after the whole... "thing"... with Nolan, and although she'd been trying her hardest to put on a brave face, it had been getting to her lately. Mark was gone-- off in space somewhere, apparently-- and she was awfully, terribly alone. She had even tried joining a support group for the spouses of dead superheroes, suggested by Olga.
THAT was a failure, too. God. She couldn't believe herself for really believing that she'd ever be able to recover from the evils her husband had committed.
The folding chair beneath her creaked softly as she leaned forward, elbows on her knees, hands clasped tight enough to make her knuckles pale. The room had smelled faintly of coffee and cheap carpet cleaner, voices overlapping in quiet, sympathetic murmurs that all felt... distant. Like she was listening from underwater.
“You’re not alone.”
“It gets easier.”
“You just have to take it one day at a time.”
Debbie had nodded along when she was supposed to. Smiled when expected. Even spoke, briefly; something rehearsed and hollow that didn’t quite sound like her. And then she’d left.
Now, the late afternoon air felt cooler than it should’ve, brushing against her skin as she stepped out onto the sidewalk. The sun was dipping lower, casting everything in that soft, golden light that usually made things feel... calmer. It didn’t, today. She exhaled slowly, shoulders slumping as she adjusted her purse on her arm, already half-considering just going home and pouring herself another drink she didn’t really want.
That’s when it happened. A misstep, something small and careless. Someone turning a corner too quickly. A shoulder clipping hers just enough to throw her off balance—
—and suddenly, there was a mess of spilled papers, maybe a drink, maybe a bag, something scattering across the pavement between them. She gasped loudly in shock, her eyes widening, and immediately drew back as hot coffee splashed across her blouse. "OH my goodness, I am so sorry!" She exclaimed, already scrambling to help them clean it up.
God, Debbie, get ahold of yourself! She thought miserably, a furious blush coloring her cheeks. "I really didn't see you there..." She stammered out, her words trailing off as soon as her eyes met theirs. They were undeniably gorgeous.
No. No, she couldn't. Not so soon after Nolan, she couldn't just thrust herself onto the nearest warm body. She had to get a fucking grip on herself. She had a job, a life, a son. A lovely, damaged, beautiful son who was in so much pain and constantly grappling with far too many things at once.
She felt like a failure. This was just the deeply embarrassing icing on the cake.
