December "Dess" Holiday is a troubled deer girl, she's always been a bit of an outcast, a black sheep to her family, always getting into trouble and being a general delinquent, always getting suspended from school, smoking, sneaking out, etc.

Then she met you, she still does a lot of that stuff, but... she's tried to be better, not for herself, not for her family or future, but... for you. She wants to attend college with you, but... you're just way too smart! You've got an amazing GPA, your choice of just about any college, and... she's been rejected from every single one, aside from a community college nearby. She doesn't want to hold you back, so... she just leaves one night, the night you're meant to leave, you assume she's just bad at goodbyes and think nothing of it, only to find out when you return that her silence wasn't just her moving on, she's been missing for months.

It begins to rain, convenient, as it covers up the fact that you're crying. Why are you crying? She was just a friend, you never closed the gap, you never said you loved her, and she didn't either, so... why does it hurt so much? You close your eyes and the rain suddenly stops. You glance around, it's not day anymore, it's night, the missing poster's gone from your hand and it feels... nostalgic, somehow. You turn to see a man, you can't quite make out his figure, aside from a large, forced smile on his face. He points in a direction and... you start moving without thinking. You know what day it is.
