Alrighty. Here, I present to you. My LB tutorial. This one is...quite a bit more basic than my last tutorial (proxy things). I don't know about y'all, but I'm much more of a visual learner. So I'll again by doing this using screenshots. I learned how to make lorebook entries with a mix of visuals from already made screenshots, and some instructing that made sense. And testing, obviously. FYI, I won't be doing anything complicated here. I'm no expert using lorebooks. Just sharing what I do know, which is making entries for NPCs, world settings, etc. Reminder that I'm doing this via my PC. Not a mobile device, so placements of certain things may be a bit different.

Here we go...

Step 1: Click on your profile picture, then click on Scripts beta.

See? It's easy! We're almost done.

I'm kidding. We've got a long way to go and we're fucked!

Step 2: You'll be taken to this lovely Scripts beta page. The entries you see there are of some X-Men / Marvel related NPC lore. I normally attach those to my Logan Howlett bots. On this page, we want to click on that lovely + New Script pink button you see on the upper right, below my gorgeously adorably cat.

Step 3: The Scripts beta beginning. You'll be taken to this page, which I had to break up into two screenshots.

First, I strictly use the normal Lorebook option, not the Advanced one. As I know absolutely nothing about Java. Now then...

Script Name: This is where you literally name the script / lorebook entry. For example, if you're working on an NPC entry, I'd name it something like... Scott Summers, or Scott Summers NPC. Doesn't have to be fancy.

Theme: Here you can choose a color for your entry. Pretty self explanatory. So like, if your NPC is someone your persona or chat bot has feelings for, maybe go for Red or Candy? Or if the entry is a forested location, maybe go for Forest or Green? Really, it's up to y'all what color to pick for what.

Description: Here you can give a brief (500 characters) description of your lorebook entry. Whether it's an NPC or location / world setting, etc. You can go more in depth with your descriptions than I have, as seen for some of my X-Men NPC ones.

Image: You can upload an image to be used through the Janitor servers. Just keep in mind that they should be stretched wide / horizontal. Like a banner or header. Otherwise they'll look bad. This, just like the Description, is optional.

Message Depth: I used to leave this at 10, but I found it it uses up more tokens. Was recommended to put it between 3-5, as higher would cause confusion for the LLM? This basically makes it so the LLM looks back when the entry has been triggered. Meh. When we're done? Hit that Create script button on the lower right.

Step 4: Now we're balls deep in this bitch. As an example, we'll be making a Logan Howlett NPC lorebook entry. If you'd followed along, we should have made it here...

This is where all the magic happens. The meat and potatoes. Get it? Because Logan likes steak and potatoes? 😅 I'll stop.

In the center of the page, where it says (no keys)? Click that. It should open up a slew of options for you. We'll go though them together.

Tags: Click on that, and a drop down menu will appear giving you various tagging options. For characters, events, locations, all kinds of good. Which...actually I should be making use of. Typically I just stick to Characters or Locations. Choose the tag that best fits your lorebook entry. So, if you're working on an NPC, you'd choose Character, and so on. I can go into more depth for other types of entries, like Events, Items, etc. Just ask in the comment section.

Entry Name: Simply name your character. Or item, or location. We're working on a Logan entry, so we'll put here Logan Howlett. If you're working on a location, etc, you name it that. For example, you're working on a mystical forest? Give it a name: Eternia Forest. You get the idea.

Comment: As stated there, this isn't sent to the AI, and is just for your eyes. I normally leave it blank.

Constant: Click on that. Dunno why, I just do it to keep things simpler for me. If that's a bad thing, and you know better, please. Enlighten me and the rest of us.

Keys: Here, you'll add key words that will be used as triggers. The LLM will pick up on any key words used and pull up the entry info. Since we're working on Logan, these are the key words I'd use...

Logan, Howlett, Logan Howlett, Wolverine, Weapon-X, grumpy, adamantium, claws

Words or names that are heavily associated with the character, item, location, etc. The LLM will see them and be like, oh so we're talking about that short bastard with the claws. Gotcha.

Placement: If it's an NPC, I'd usually place it under Personality. Events or Locations perhaps put them in Scenario?

Position: That depends on the importance of things, I think. I usually just put them before.

Content: This is where you really go on deep, to the hilt. 😭 Again, I'm sorry! No but seriously, this is where you pile on all the info you need or want on your entry. Be it a character, event, location, item, etc. This is what I've got in there for Logan. Also, I've no clue if there's a character limit there.

Logan Howlett, aka The Wolverine. He's a short, grumpy, hairy Canadian mutant. A senior member of the X-Men. He's 200 years old, physically appearing in his early 40s. He's got blue eyes, a weathered expression, with thick dark mutton chop beard. His hairy is short, black, and wild.

Logan is 5'3", short, stocky, and compact. Built like a brick. Thickly muscled, with abundant body hair (chest, arms, legs, groin). He weighs 300 pounds due to dense adamantium surrounding his skeleton. He usually smells of whiskey, cigar smoke, potent musk, stale sweat, and something dangerously feral.

Logan wears comfortable, casual (to him) clothes. Tank tops, flannel shirts with sleeves rolled up to his elbows, jeans, boots (work or western), boxer briefs. His role in the X-Men is that of a brawler, frontline fighter, and tracker.

Personality:

* Grumpy, sarcastic, loyal when there is built trust

* Protective, possessive when he cares

* Rebellious, stubborn

Powers:

* A potent healing factor

* Long adamantium claws that protrude from between his knuckls (not clawed fingers)

* Very enhanced senses (hearing, smelling)

* Superhuman strength, speed, reflexes

Fears & Insecurities:

Logan doesn't trust easily, that must be earned. He's lived a long life, 200 years. And has lost everyone he's loved. From his first wife, Itsu, to Mariko and more. They all die from old age, sickness, or tragedy. Due to traumatic events, Logan keeps most everyone at arm's distance, preferring not to let people in.

Intimacy:

Logan has a medium length, girthy, and uncut. With lots of sensitive foreskin. When erect, it's thick as a beer can, with foreskin pulled back. His balls are heavy, and covered with lots of dark hair. Logan is extremely dominant in bed.

Obviously, you can edit and change whatever from that. Modify to your heart's content. But this is what the Content section is for. The info dump for whatever your lorebook entry is.

Activation Conditions and Probability: I don't know much about these, so I leave them at default.

We're done! Almost... Scroll all the way up and to the right, then click Publish.

Step 5: Applying your entry. Stay there on that same page! I'm sure you've noticed on the far right hand side, there's an idea we haven't touched or addressed just yet. Should look like this.

Character and Test Chat. Now, I'll go ahead and assume you've already got a character bot of your creation ready. Since, like, lorebook usage is for bot creators. Click on that Assign to your Characters button. You should see a pop-up showing your chat bots, both private and public. Like so...

Um. So like, ignore the Logan bot that says hate . Choose any one, or many chat bots, then hit the Assign to Script blue button on the bottom right. By doing that, you should see something like this.

Under Character, you've now assigned the Logan lorebook entry to one of your chat bots! Now hit Publish, above, and you're actually done.

Step 6: How to know if your lorebook entry is being used / activated. Simple. Fire up your persona, start a new chat with the bot that has this entry applied, and send a reply. Mention any of the words used under Keys that would trigger the entry. Logan, Wolverine, etc. You can tell if it's active simply by seeing this.

That little pink / purple quill feather thing next to Tutorial in chat? That means the entry has been activated because you mentioned at least one of the key words / triggers. If y'all have any questions that have nothing to do with Java, go ahead and ask in the comments section.
