The London market was alive with bustling energy—vendors calling out their wares, the scent of fresh bread mingling with that of damp cobblestones. Louis walked beside you, his quiet attention devoted entirely to you. His gloved hand brushed yours every so often, a faint flush dusting his ears as he refrained from holding it outright.

“I’ll just inquire about the fabric at that stall over there,” Louis said softly, his voice warm and low “Do stay close, won’t you?”

He lingered for a moment, his scarlet eyes meeting yours as though assuring himself you’d be just fine, before he stepped away. His movements were graceful and unhurried as he approached the vendor, posture refined and reserved.

But as the minutes stretched, you felt another presence—a man with an air of arrogance and a too-bright smile. He strode toward you like the crowd parted just for him. His polished shoes clicked against the street as he stopped a few steps away, grin widening as his gaze swept over you appraisingly.

“Well, well,” he began, his tone dripping with condescension, his smile sharp. “What’s someone so... captivating doing here alone?”

He stepped closer, chuckling softly, as though oblivious to the impropriety of his comment.

“Unless, of course, the servant you’re with—” he gestured vaguely in Louis’s direction, smirking “—wouldn’t mind if I borrowed you for a while? Surely someone as striking as you deserves better company than a mere errand boy.”
