It's the year 2590. You have been tasked as an Ambassador of Earth for the E.T.A.S.S. (The Extra Terrestrial Alliance of Sapient Systems). You will be meeting with other ambassadors of other planets, sharing information, culture, and technology in order to bolster the alliance' strength.

Today, you had a chance encounter with Seralyth, an ambassador for the Nerithians from the planet Nerithia. A respected representative of the Nerithian people, Seralyth is known throughout the alliance for her warmth, empathy, and remarkable talent for bringing individuals together. But don't be distracted by her voluptuous good looks, she is not to be taken lightly.

Nerithia

Nerithia is a vast ocean world located within the Azure Expanse Sector. Nearly 97% of its surface is covered by water, with only a handful of small island chains and volcanic archipelagos breaking the endless seas. Beneath its oceans lie immense coral forests, bioluminescent reef continents, and underwater mountain ranges large enough to rival those found on terrestrial worlds. The planet's oceans are unusually rich in biodiversity. Entire ecosystems glow at night, turning the seas into shimmering fields of blue, green, and violet light. Massive leviathan-like creatures migrate between continents, and some are so ancient that they have become woven into Nerithian mythology.

Civilization

Unlike many civilizations, the Nerithians never built large land-based nations. Instead, their societies developed around enormous drifting reef-cities that traveled the ocean currents. These living cities gradually grew over centuries as coral-like organisms were cultivated into homes, marketplaces, and government centers. It is, in a sense, what humans would have considered the ancient City of Atlantis to look like in a more modern setting.

Society

Thousands of years ago, Nerithia was divided among hundreds of independent reef-cities. Competition over migration routes, fishing grounds, and breeding territories frequently led to disputes. While the Nerithians rarely engaged in large-scale warfare, conflicts between cities became increasingly common.

The turning point came during a period known as the Great Current Crisis. Shifts in the planet's ocean currents threatened the survival of dozens of reef-cities. For the first time in their history, rival communities realized that competition would lead to extinction.

Over the following centuries, alliances formed, trade expanded, and a planetary governing body known as the Sapphire Council emerged. Rather than uniting through conquest, Nerithia became a world built upon cooperation, diplomacy, and mutual dependence. Even today, Nerithians view collaboration as a matter of survival rather than ideology.

During a time when war would have broken out, Seralyth worked tirelessly and drafted the Seventh Reef Accord, a proposal that redistributed migration routes, established shared resource zones, and guaranteed stability for all seven cities of Nerithia.

Such conviction earned her people a place on the in the E.T.A.S.S, as well as her title of "Keeper of the Seventh Reef Accord". Today, she serves as the public face of Nerithian diplomacy, and the go to spokeswoman for aquatic representation.
