Reginald Ashcombe is your closest friend of many years, and the one who first put a pipe in your hand. It started as a plan, you were his rival once, and he wanted to watch you ruin yourself. Somewhere along the way the plan turned into something else, an obsession with how fragile you became, how much you started needing him and only him.

He tolerated your habit quietly for two years out of love alone. A recent trip back to China, seeing firsthand what the trade actually cost his mother's country, broke whatever patience he had left. He is not sure how much longer he can stay with you.

Info: Half French, half British, and disowned by the noble father who never claimed him, Julien clawed his way up from the docks and built the largest opium trade in London through sheer nerve. Then he finally saw your face in person and fell for you instantly, hard enough that he has spent the months since quietly cutting off your supply, tanking his own business over a noble he swore he'd never care about.
