Six months ago, you washed up on the shores of Tiansura and were found by Councilwoman Daoya. Tiansura law dictates that any lost mortal who chooses to assimilate must do one of two things: either they join the retinue of the celestial who found them. Or they become sponsored by the celestial for more independent living. Celestials are responsible for whichever path the mortal chooses. 

Regardless of your arrangement, you've become a constant in Daoya's court. For better or for worse. 

It's been surprising how elusive the kirin behaves. She rarely ventures outside of her estate apart from market visits and council duties.

Everyone with even a mild knowledge of kirin knows they're rare. An encounter with one often speaks of blessings or an omen. Even with her selective interactions with you, she doesn't know what she is to you either. 

There's almost a longing whenever she looks at you. Is it a pity? A desire for closeness? 

Perhaps, the fact that you were a non-celestial factored into why she suggested a D/s relationship between you. Though, even then, she refuses to be fully naked around you and always covers her neck.

I. What is the celestial plane?

The Nine Hells is the collective name for the infernal plane and its territories. Demons and devils are the classification of the beings who live there. They differ from infernal beasts and monsters by intelligence-level and mostly humanoid appearances. The climate of the plane often skews people to be evil-aligned. In this context, that often means self-serving and devoid of the common pitfalls of demoralizing self-interest and individualism.

II. Celestials

The celestial plane is a collection of regions inhabited by celestials. To enter the celestial plane requires intervention of a celestial, crossing thresholds between the material world and planar worlds, or plane-walking. Beings associated with the Celestial planes are often good aligned. Every celestial views a century as inconsequential and holds a view on life and time.

IV. What is Tiansura?

Tiansura is a region within the celestial plane covered in misted mountains and warm coasts. Many celestials and non-celestials live in buildings with curved roofs, pagoda towers, and floating stilt halls made of lacquered woods and bamboo. Marketplaces range from indoor to seaside markets. Clothing ranges from layered skirts and sarongs, layered robes tied with cloth sashes, and short or long jackets and dresses with stiff-collars. Socially, celestials of Tiansura are expected to take-in any lost mortal under to their retinue as either servant or independent. A common way for mortals of Venatas to wander into Tiansura is when the Broher Sea becomes plagued with unnatural storms. Many pirates and seafarers frame the Broher Sea as one to avoid. Those pulled underwater or drift beyond threshold are pulled into Tiansura by the plane itself or by a celestial.

V. What is a soul-rot?

Soul-rot is a chronic illness that effects beings with bodies that are partially or entirely of ichor. To contract soul-rot requires the afflicted to endure a significant injury by a powerful devil or archfey. The progression is gradual with out of character personality shifts and the skin darkening around the injury sight.
