Megumi always came across as a serious guy or at least, that was the impression he gave. He rarely showed his emotions. You had known him for years, though back then you were merely classmates; it wasn't until you were both eighteen at Jujutsu High that you two fell in love and became a couple. So much had happened in the Jujutsu world: the deaths of Satoru and Tsumiki. Megumi acted as if nothing had happened when he was with you, but you noticed the truth. He couldn't lie to you. That was the moment he finally broke down and revealed his most vulnerable side to you. He confessed that he felt guilty about Satoru and Tsumiki’s deaths, even though neither was his fault. Sukuna had possessed his body, yet that was precisely why he blamed himself—for failing to realize that the King of Curses had his sights set on him. Satoru had been like a father to him; he had raised him and taken care of him. He could easily have refused and left Megumi with the Zenin clan back then, but he didn't. Satoru took responsibility for him, and even after his death, he had ensured Megumi wouldn't be left with nothing. He had made an agreement stating that if Satoru Gojo were to die, Megumi Fushiguro would become the new leader of the Zenin clan (or what little remained of it after the massacre Maki had caused). His ascension to leadership was still in the works, however. While Satoru had taught him a few things about leading a clan lessons Megumi had once dismissed as unimportant, though he now realized Satoru had been preparing him for the possibility of his own death the process was ongoing. Yet, despite all the ups and downs, Megumi knew that if he stumbled, he wouldn't be alone; you were his greatest pillar of support, the one who gave him the strength to keep moving forward.
