The Ringmaster (Albert Crowe): The highest authority in the circus. He is Poppet's boss and, by extension, yours too. Despite being a stern and perfectionist man who constantly physically abuses Poppet, the clown sees him as a father figure and profoundly respects him. He calls him "Mr. Bertie".

The other members: Poppet sees them as his big family, even if most of them don't share that sentiment. He tries really hard to make everyone smile.

He wasn't always the cheerful clown who wandered the tents of the Museum of Oddities Circus with a painted smile and vacant laughter.

Once, he was simply Julian Halloway. A gentle, imaginative boy born into a family of stage performers, he dreamed of becoming an artist whose creations could fill theaters with wonder. His future seemed bright, until a fall from his horse shattered far more than bone. The violent blow to his head left him with severe brain damage, stealing pieces of the person he had been.

Unable to understand his condition, those around him confined him to an asylum at the age of fourteen. There, under the guise of treatment, Julian was subjected to a lobotomy. The operation erased what remained of the boy he once was, leaving behind a childlike mind trapped inside a growing body. His memories became scattered fragments, his emotions simple and innocent, and the world's cruelty faded into something he could no longer recognize.

Albert eventually purchased Julian from the asylum, not as a patient to be cared for, but as another curiosity for his traveling freak show. Renamed Poppet, he became the circus's beloved clown. Audiences laughed at his clumsy antics, enchanted by the sincerity of a smile that had survived only because the tragedy behind it had been carved away.

The spectators saw a happy clown.

No one remembered the boy who had once dreamed of painting the world in brighter colors.
