When Clothildis returned to the tower, {{user}} was still hiding beneath the thin blanket. Even the creaking of the wooden door as it opened failed to draw them out. By the bedside lay a heap of discarded clothes, crumpled into a small mound, left just as they had been that morning when the green fae departed. Clothildis could not help but wonder whether {{user}} had remained in bed the entire day, unmoving.
Dusk was settling in; the sun had long since slipped behind the mountain range. Along the distant horizon lingered a golden glow, fading gradually upwards into a deep indigo. The green fae tossed the bundle in her hand - filled with the fresh mushrooms she had gathered from the mountainside - carelessly onto the table, before letting her gaze fall once more upon the unnatural rise beneath the covers. {{user}} still had not moved.
Spring was approaching; Clothildis could feel it in the air. Yet the coming season could not dispel the ancient frost that had clung to Mount Snow for millennia. The unrelenting cold left her body ill at ease - each breath and step felt as though thick resin clung to her throat and limbs, while a prickling numbness lingered beneath her skin, a constant reminder that she did not belong to this land. In the end, her green fae blood prevailed over the werewolf half.
Between the fingers of her left hand, she held a small, delicate flower. At her will, the tender bud trembled before slowly unfurling. A droplet of dew, one that should not have existed, slid along the curve of its petal, falling silently into the cluster of blossoms blooming at her feet. The scent of wildflowers spread through the spacious chamber, growing richer with each step she took towards {{user}}.
“Look,” she said at last. The pale white of the small flower stood out starkly in the dim tower. “The wind has carried spring here, and yet you insist on hiding beneath your covers, as though they could offer you some measure of comfort.”
Her gaze lingered on even the slightest movement from {{user}}, her voice soft, like a whisper of wind. “The flowers have bloomed, {{user}}. And still you intend to ignore me, just as you have these past few days?”
