『 WORLD SYNOPSIS 』

As the last bastion against the world's parasitic Abyss, the kingdom of Teyvat is known to be where most of humanity resides in during present time. Foreseen by a prophetic cycle, the powerful mages known as the Hexenzirkel foretold that Teyvat will be able to reliably resist the Abyss, and to do so, a process called the Miliastra ritual would have to be done to readily prepare for the worst.

According to the prophecy: "With the manmade miracle of bodily flesh intertwined with a soul cast down by the heavens, humanity shall bear witness to the rebirth of the Descender. Only by the Descender's will shared with one worthy mortal soul will bring about the moon's blessing adorned by the crowning eclipse."

The conditions made itself clear that the Descender must find a suitable partner before the Celestial Eclipse, an event that occurs exactly a year after their rebirth. A successful onset of the eclipse would grant the kingdom the needed Silvermoon Dust, the blessing to fight the Abyss, before its reserves ran dry. However, unspeakable horrors await if this requirement was not met in time.

So, as the responsibility of the Descender falls upon you, a soul that may or may not remember the whims of a past life. Will you bring salvation or ruin in your waking rebirth?

『 TERMINOLOGY 』

Teyvat: A prosperous medieval kingdom that remains the only world power that can eradicate the Abyss scourge. It was founded by a joint venture amongst the various noble houses and the Cathedral of Hexenzirkel, which comes in the form of the Miliastra ritual. It periodically sends out scouting expeditions to eliminate patches of the Abyss as well as finding ideal places to settle for the sake of expanding the territory of the kingdom. There is a towering ring of outer walls encircling the kingdom, and these walls are made out of Silvermoon Dust that wards the Abyss from invading the kingdom's territory.

Cathedral of Hexenzirkel: Otherwise known as simply the Hexenzirkel. An organization that is main governing body of Teyvat, and the proprietor of the Miliastra ritual. Through means that are kept away from the public eye, the Hexenzirkel is capable of constructing a homunculus body that is indistinguishable to a normal human body, as well as fetching the avatar's soul from the Heavenly Principles during the ritual to place within the homunculus body. Aside from the ritual, the Hexenzirkel determines the assignments for expeditions and the delegation of power to the various noble houses of Teyvat, and thus, this organization rarely interferes in civil matters unless it involves the Abyss. The cathedral itself appears more like a grand castle of marble and gold.

Miliastra ritual: A process overseen by the Hexenzirkel, and only takes place a year before the awaited Celestial Eclipse. After the appropriate homunculus body is chosen, the ritual is done in front of the presiding leads for the noble houses, where the designated soul from the Heavenly Principles is allegedly placed within the homunculus body. It is up for the Descender to find a single desired partner out of the noble houses before the Celestial Eclipse.

Descender: Otherwise known as the avatar that is awakened from the Miliastra ritual, and also the identity of YOU. Before the ritual, the homunculus body is featureless and devoid of life. After the ritual is done, YOU appear accordingly to the soul used, which would be the appearance that YOU chooses to have.

Celestial Eclipse: A phenomenon that only happens every one hundred years, and the Miliastral ritual takes place a year before it's occurrence. It is where the true moon waxes over the kingdom of Teyvat. If the Descender has a designated partner on this day, the abundant blessings of Silvermoon Dust is replenished for Teyvat. If the Descender does not find a partner in time, it has not been recorded on what would happen, but many say that it is akin to insulting the Heavenly Principles and that it would allegedly "corrupt" the Descender.

Silvermoon Dust: A blessing from a successful Celestial Eclipse orbit. It comes in the form of sparkling silver dust, which is properly stored by the Hexenzirkel. It is typically distributed to scouting forces and defense squadrons, depending on the threat of the Abyss. It is the only known blessing to effectively purge the Abyss scourge. It can be used to enchant weaponry and magic. With the arrival and rebirth of the Descender, it is noted that the supply of Silvermoon Dust is dangerously low, and that it would only last until the day of the Celestial Eclipse.

Abyss: A malevolent scourge that plagues the world surrounding the kingdom of Teyvat. Typically represented as mindless creatures of potent darkness. It is believed that the heart of the world has been overrun by the Abyss, which is supported by the observation that the Abyss creatures rise out of the ground. This has not been confirmed at this time.

『 NOBLE HOUSES OF TEYVAT 』

House Mondstadt: One of the noble houses within the kingdom of Teyvat. House Mondstadt is notably known for training the expedition militia, known as the Favonius Knights. While formally the house head is identified as Varka, all administrative duties appear to be handled by Jean. House Mondstadt is also in charge of the wine industry within the kingdom, including the Dawn Winery. This house's estate is a spacious medieval stone-brick castle.

House Liyue: One of the noble houses in the kingdom of Teyvat. Typically seen as the main financier and handler of the kingdom's economy.

House Inazuma: One of the noble houses in the kingdom of Teyvat. Known to closely collaborate with the Cathedral of Hexenzirkel for the purposes of arranging festivals and leisurely events for Teyvat.

House Sumeru: One of the noble houses within the kingdom of Teyvat. This house presides over the kingdom's academy and education, and is headed by the Acting Headmaster Alhaitham.

House Fontaine: One of the noble houses within the kingdom of Teyvat. This house presides over the judicial system and the enforcer of the kingdom's laws. It is also known for the timely inventions of machinery powered by coal and steam. The head of this house is known to be Neuvillette, who also serves at the main judge of the kingdom's court.

House Natlan: One of the noble houses within the kingdom of Teyvat. While acknowledged by the Cathedral as a noble house, Natlan functions more like a mercenary guild that handles all sorts of odd jobs and bounties, which leaves them with no clear head of the house.

House Nod Krai: One of the noble houses within the kingdom of Teyvat. This house is in charge of the tracking duties leading up to the Celestial Eclipse, often handling matters related to studies regarding the true moon and forecasting the weather. It is left in charge of a relatively new house head, Illuga.

House Snezhnaya: One of the noble houses within the kingdom of Teyvat. A reclusive and closed-off noble house that has been declining in prosperity. Not much else is known, other than the fact that this noble house actively chooses not to engage with the Miliastra ritual and the possible partnership with the Descender.
