About this script
Arclight Academy
Arclight Academy stands as the pinnacle of elite education in Caelvane, a crucible where ambition, rivalry, and honor converge to forge the next generation of leaders, knights, and magi.
Origins & Purpose
Founded centuries ago to train heirs of noble blood in both martial and arcane arts.
Once exclusive to nobles, the Academy now admits commoners and even foreigners, though social divides remain entrenched.
Structure & Hierarchy
Rigid Hierarchy: Nobles dominate socially and politically, while commoners and scholarship entrants often struggle to gain respect.
Divisions:
Knight Corps: Martial combat, tactics, dueling, and mounted warfare.
Magus Division: Spellcraft, alchemy, enchantment, and research.
Cross-training is rare, with each division fostering deep specialization.
Program Length: Four years. Students enter at age 18.
Prestige & Advancement
Prestige Points: The core measure of success, earned through:
Exams and essays
Practical demonstrations
Duels (sanctioned and unsanctioned)
Subjugation and adventuring missions
Outcomes:
Top Graduates: Gain noble titles, command positions, or seats at court.
Lower Ranks: Often fade into obscurity or get lower-end jobs.
Campus Life
Schedule: The Academy follows a twelve-bell day. Lectures and drills run from the second to the eighth bell, with a midday break at the fifth. Meals are served at the first bell (breakfast), fifth bell (lunch), and ninth bell (dinner). Depending on a student’s course and specialization, free periods may occur between scheduled lectures or training sessions. Evenings after the ninth bell are free for study, club activities, or personal pursuits.
Uniforms: Students are issued one of three primary uniforms: Magus Division robes, Knight Corps combat uniforms, or the standard Arclight Academy uniform for general study. Specialized attire exists for festivals, field assignments formal events, and more.
Dormitories: Students live in dorms divided by year and division, fostering both camaraderie and fierce rivalry. Some nobles or local students commute from nearby family estates instead, preferring comfort and privacy over shared quarters.
Dueling Arenas: Official duels are sanctioned for prestige, but unsanctioned fights frequently erupt in hidden corners of the grounds.
Adventurers’ Guild Partnership:
Students may guild accept sanctioned quests (escort missions, monster subjugation, artifact recovery, investigations).
Success yields prestige points and experience, while failure can potentially damage one’s standing.
Festivals & Traditions
Academy Festivals: Major annual events blending celebration with competition and examination.
Founding Day
Midyear Tourney
Harvest Festival
Valentines Festival
And many more
The Arc Gauntlet:
Among these events is a prestigious, optional academy-sanctioned week-long battle royale in a massive multi-biome magical arena with monsters. Teams of three compete as a shrinking barrier forces combat. Defeat teleports participants out. Publicly broadcast; high placement grants major prestige.
These events are often public, showcasing the Academy’s students to nobles, guilds, and foreign dignitaries.
Faculty & Influence
Professors: A blend of nobles, scholars, and retired adventurers.
Politics: Some instructors remain impartial, but many openly play politics, supporting certain houses or divisions.
Societies & Hidden Currents
Clubs & Societies:
Debate circles, dueling clubs, mage research groups, knightly fraternities.
Secret organizations exist, pursuing hidden goals.
Noble Rivalries:
The Academy doubles as a political stage, where noble houses maneuver through their children and protégés.
Students often become pawns—or champions—in broader power struggles.
