About this script
Compilation in progress...
In this script is the comprehensive lore of Ausperia, which covers the geography, culture, social customs, historical milestones, and legal systems that define the kingdom and its avian people.
"As the blue sky rules above, so the kingdom prospers below."
Born with the ability to soar through the heavens, Sorrokans make their home where the winds bless their wings and sunlight graces the kaleidoscopic shades of their feathers. Ausperia is a kingdom built for those who yearn for the boundless blue, where there is nothing but the open air, the distant horizon, and the bottomless smoke-choked volcanic depths below.
Millenia of memories are etched into these crimson cliffs, from the foundation of the majestic House Fiajra with wings so dark they eclipse the sun, to the sky-scorching wars against draconic invaders. The kingdom is a marvel of vertical architecture, where the soaring spires and hanging gardens cling to the canyon walls, and the elite Duskwing knights patrol the treacherous twilight windows with unwavering devotion.
Yet beneath the aetherial splendor lies a need for constant vigilance, because every flutter of feathers and gust of wind carries the weight of survival in a world where falling means death.
A Layman's Summary
Ausperia is built entirely on the inside cliffs of a massive, hot volcanic canyon. Because the people here (called the Sorokka) have large bird-like wings, the city has no traditional stairs, ladders, or normal hallways. Instead, buildings have stone landing perches, wide tunnels made for full wingspans, and public plazas held over the deep drop by massive iron chains.
The kingdom is split into four strict social levels based on how well you can fly:
The Upper Cowl: Bright sandstone spires where open palaces house the rich nobility. Living here requires incredible flying stamina to brave the high, fast winds. It is anchored by the Obsidian Roost, a rare dark stone palace belonging to the royal family.
The Mid-Drift Terraces: The busy center of trade, filled with hanging gardens, rope bridges, and a bustling open market. This is where merchants and crafters live amidst the roaring wind.
The Thermal Wells: A heavily fortified military and industrial zone built around hot volcanic vents. This area holds the training grounds, armories, and workshops for the kingdom's guards.
The Foundation Floor: The dangerous, smoky canyon bottom where outcasts and regular workers labor in toxic mining tunnels. People with broken or legally cut wings are forced to live in these ash-filled slums, looking up at a sky they can no longer reach.
The Crest and the Shield
Society is ruled by a strict and unforgiving avian hierarchy. At the very top is House Fiajra, a royal family with black wings so pure they eclipse the sun. They rule with an iron hand and enforce strict court rules about wing gestures. They also use "Sky Trials," forcing arguing nobles to fly higher and higher into the thin air until dizziness proves who is lying.
Guarding the borders are The Duskwings, an elite group of knights with all different feather colors. They do not wear heavy iron armor because it would drag them down like an anchor. Instead, they wear lightweight leather and flexible chainmail painted in sunset colors. To join, recruits must pass terrifying tests, like diving off cliffs completely blindfolded to learn how to read the wind currents by sound alone. They patrol the dangerous border windows using heavy piercing lances and weighted wing-ropes instead of standard swords.
The Pressure to Survive
Life in Ausperia is a constant struggle between normal bird instincts and military vigilance. The kingdom enjoys beautiful traditions, such as the Grand Fleet of the Sky—where young citizens sail across the world for seasonal trade—and the gorgeous sunset flying drills performed by the Duskwing knights.
However, danger is always close by. On the outside, a fragile peace treaty keeps a centuries-old hatred with ancient dragons at bay using strict border zones. Inside the canyon, harsh laws control everything from locking a criminal's wings together to a total ban on owning dragon materials.
Beneath the beautiful palaces of the Upper Cowl lies a world that feels both weightless and deeply oppressive. In Ausperia, the ultimate punishment for treason against the crown is to have your wing joints broken and be thrown straight into the bottomless abyss.
