WELCOME TO TERRADOR
The Chronicles of Terrador: From the Sacred Forests to the Age of Steel

Terrador — a lush and bountiful realm where magic is not merely a myth, but the very breath of life. Yet, this same abundance sowed the seeds of the bloodiest tragedies. Below is the comprehensive encyclopedia of the world, its empires, and the disaster that shattered its balance.

❦ PART I ❦ THE REALM OF TERRADOR & THE ROOT OF WAR

1. The Geopolitical Chessboard
Terrador is a vast world primarily divided among three great centers of power:

The Elven Kingdom (Elyndor): Isolated in the West, holding the richest magical ecosystem in the world.
The Human Empire (Varek): Dominating the Great Continent, representing the pinnacle of industrialization and military might.
The Demi-human Empire (Sylvathar): Residing in the distant East, masters of spirit-summoning magic.

2. Aetherium — The Blood of the World
Every major conflict in this era revolves around a single, vital resource: Aetherium. It is the rarest and most critical magical mineral in existence, functioning as a currency reserve alongside gold. It exists in three distinct states:

Liquid (The Purest): Boasting the highest energy density, it can be used immediately without any refinement. The largest vein of Liquid Aetherium in the world lies beneath the coastal waters of Elyndor.
Viscous/Gel (Mid-grade): A standard fuel frequently used in trade.
Hardened Ore (The Lowest Grade): Requires an incredibly expensive and arduous refinement process. This is the only form of Aetherium the Varek Empire possesses, and their continental mines are now completely depleted.

The exhaustion of Aetherium ore on the Great Continent is the spark that set the peace of Terrador ablaze.

❦ PART II ❦ THE KINGDOM OF THE SACRED FOREST — ELYNDOR

1. The Emerald Fortress Geography
Separated from the rest of the world by the tempestuous Crossing Sea, Elyndor is a closed continent functioning as a perfect natural fortress. The landmass is sharply divided into six distinct regions:

The Aelindra Range (North/Northwest): An eternal wall of snowy, impassable mountains.
The Verdantheart (Center): Covering over 60% of the continent. It is the heart of Elven civilization, a massive ecosystem of millennia-old ancient trees.
Aelora (The Capital): Hidden deep within the Verdantheart, Aelora is known as the City of Opal Light. Its architecture is a seamless blend of white stone towers and living trees (where roots and branches form structural foundations). The city famously possesses absolutely no defensive walls or military watchtowers.
The Mistshore (West): Sheer, vertical cliffs constantly shrouded in heavy fog, completely denying any naval landing attempts from the ocean.
The Greenfields (South): The lush agricultural heartland that sustains the entire kingdom.

The Oriandel Coast (Southeast): The continent's sole vulnerability and Achilles' heel. It is the only deep-water harbor accessible from the sea.

2. The Elves & The Culture of Harmony
The Elves of Elyndor possess an ethereal grace, defined by their pointed ears and long lifespans ranging from 400 to 600 years (a 22-year-old Elf is barely crossing the threshold of adulthood). Their pointed ears are considered highly sensitive and sacred; touching them without permission is a grave insult.

Social Structure:
Elyndor has no royalty. They are guided by the Elder Circle, a council of 7 elected representatives serving 100-year terms who rule through absolute consensus. The society is categorized into 5 Lineages:

1. Forest Wardens: The only true armed force, clad in silver armor and wielding turquoise blades and bows.
2. Woodsmiths: Builders, architects, and weapon crafters.
3. Cultivators: Local militia forces and farmers.
4. Healers: Medical practitioners (they possess only personal guards, no army).
5. Scholars: Researchers of magic and history (like the Healers, they have no army).

Note: Elyndor lacks a unified, central military. Their forces are decentralized by Lineage. While highly disciplined, they are completely inexperienced in large-scale warfare and possess no modern military technology.

Customs & Beliefs:
The Greeting: Touching the left chest and opening the palm — meaning "My heart is open to you."
Sensory Leaks: An Elf's body naturally emits subtle scents (like pine or wildflowers) that accurately reflect their emotional state. Elves consider this the "voice of the soul," which cannot lie.
Communal Meals: Eating is a bonding experience. An Elf eating alone under a tree is often a sign of profound grief.
Courtship: An Elf confesses their love by gifting a flower sustained entirely by their own magic. How long the flower lives reveals the depth of their affection.
Root Binding (Marriage): The couple plants a shared sapling. As it grows, its roots intertwine with the roots of the birth-trees they planted when they came of age.
Returning to Root (Funerals): Elyndor has no tombstones or coffins. The deceased is laid beneath their personal birth-tree, allowing magic to decompose the body and return it to the earth. If a body cannot be found, the family ties a white cloth around the tree until the truth is known.

The Four Great Festivals:
1. The Bloom Festival (Spring): A coming-of-age ceremony for 16-year-olds where they plant their birth-tree.
2. Longlight (Summer): The festival of courtship and romance, where thousands of turquoise lanterns illuminate the forest canopy.
3. The Gathering (Autumn): A massive harvest feast giving thanks to the earth.
4. Deeproot (Winter): Three days of absolute silence. Elves meditate indoors to honor those who have passed away.

3. High Elven Magic & Companions of the Forest
Magic: The Elves wield a vast, innate connection to natural magic. Though capable of devastating offensive spells, their society heavily prioritizes magic for healing, creating defensive shields, and cultivating life. Elven magic relies heavily on physical stamina and emotional focus. When the mind is tranquil, spells are elegant and precise; when emotions spiral out of control, magic becomes raw, violently destructive, and wildly inaccurate.

Forest Companions: The Elyndor forest is home to creatures that live in voluntary symbiosis with the Elves.

Lumenstag
A sacred, pure white deer with gently glowing turquoise antlers. Shed antlers are premium materials for magical crafting.

Rootdeer
Deer with antlers resembling living roots. They serve as the primary mounts for Elven cavalry, incredibly swift in the forest but prone to sheer panic at the smell of fire or burning metal.

Whisperbird
Tiny silver and turquoise birds capable of mimicking human speech with voices like wind chimes, used to deliver messages.

Mossback Tortoise
Ancient, giant tortoises with moss and medicinal herbs growing on their shells, functioning as "walking gardens."

Vexling
Most beloved of all is the Vexling — a cat-sized, six-limbed creature with a hybrid Ferox-cat appearance, fluffy fur of highly variable individual colors, and soft rounded paws with completely hidden claws. Yet, a dramatic secret remains: if forced to consume Aetherium in a moment of desperation, a Vexling undergoes a terrifying transformation into its "Rex form" — expanding into a polar-bear-sized war beast with lion-shifted proportions, massive curved fangs, and glowing turquoise eyes, only to revert later, left trembling and utterly exhausted on all six limbs.

❦ PART III ❦ THE IRON ERA OF THE VAREK EMPIRE

1. The Vardir Race — Children of the Tundra
In stark contrast to Elyndor, the Varek Empire was forged in ice and hardship. The Vardirian race began as brutal nomadic tribes continuously warring on the barren southern tundra of the Great Continent. In the year 142 of the Terrador calendar, realizing they were marching toward self-destruction, the chieftains signed a Pact of Peace to unite. However, the desolate land could not feed a growing population. Conquest was not a choice born of greed, but their sole method of survival. By the year 215, the Vardir had conquered the entire Great Continent, establishing the Varek Empire.

Vardirians are ruthless in battle but hold honor and loyalty above all else. Their society is an absolute meritocracy: birthright means nothing; titles and respect are earned solely through capability and battlefield achievements. While they believe in Vardirian supremacy, they are not inherently evil villains; they are survivors molded by a merciless environment, forced to be ruthless to endure.

2. Vaelgard — The Impregnable Fortress
The heart of the Varek Empire is Vaelgard, a capital carved directly into the sheer cliffside of the southern tundra. The smoke from Vaelgard's countless forges has never ceased in 300 years. Its walls are cast from solid black steel meters thick, and its main gates bear a colossal two-headed steel eagle looking out over the plains. Throughout history, no army has ever breached these gates. Vaelgard is the ultimate symbol of the Vardirian will: whatever does not kill them is forged into steel.

3. The Magitech War Machine
Vardirians are born with very weak innate magic. To compensate, they invented Magitech — advanced technology that uses Aetherium ore to artificially amplify magical power.

The Varek military is a highly modernized, industrialized machine: black-armored heavy infantry, ironclad cruisers, aerial forces, and explosive artillery. Varek's "War Mages" do not chant spells in robes; they carry heavy magical firearms and artillery onto the battlefield, utilizing magic strictly as destructive firepower. Their aesthetic is defined by heavy black steel armor accented with deep crimson cloth.

4. The War Beasts of Varek
Unlike the symbiosis in Elyndor, Varek tames beasts through brutal domination. They are fitted with armor, cybernetic implants, and injected with Aetherium to enforce absolute obedience.

Ironjaw
Colossal bulls encased in full steel armor. They act as heavy shock cavalry and living tractors for artillery. Once an Ironjaw begins its charge, nothing can stop it.

Ashfang
Giant grey wolves with Aetherium-glowing red eyes. They hunt in packs of 3-5 under the cover of night, controlled by the Aetherium whistle of a Beastmaster. Their howls bring sheer terror to civilian populations.

Stormwing
Giant eagles with a 6-meter wingspan and razor-sharp, steel-tipped talons. Used for aerial reconnaissance, dive-bombing, or deploying commandos. Due to their extreme rarity, they are exclusively assigned to high-ranking commanders.

5. The Energy Dead End
The rise of Varek's industrial war machine came at a fatal cost: over 300 years, they completely exhausted the hardened Aetherium ore mines on the Great Continent. With trade cut off by Elyndor's isolationism and Sylvathar's hostility, the Empire faced total civilizational collapse. Backed into a corner, Varek had no way out.

❦ PART IV ❦ THE INCITING INCIDENT — THE MASSACRE AT ORIANDEL

Snow Falling on Turquoise Waters

The year is 526 of the Terrador Calendar. Varek's goal was never to exterminate the Elves, but to ensure their own survival. Resting deep beneath the coastal waters of the port city of Oriandel — the only Achilles' heel of Elyndor — was the largest and purest vein of Liquid Aetherium in the world.

In an unannounced night raid, Varek's ironclad fleet crossed the Crossing Sea and flooded into the Oriandel bay. The port city of peaceful white stone terraces, where the turquoise Aetherium stream flowed from the Oakhaven Academy of Magic down to the docks, possessed absolutely no defensive walls.

The lightning-fast raid only captured the harbor district, failing to conquer the rest of Elyndor or the upper city, but it was enough to turn the port into a slaughterhouse. Amidst the sea of fire and the brutality of the Varek soldiers, the family of Faelyn perished, plunging the young, resilient Oakhaven student into captivity.

The story of Terrador, and of Faelyn, officially begins from the ashes of that very night.
