LorebookAbout this script
CAELDFOLK
People that live on the planet Caeldra
The people are called: Caeldrans
And older, more outdated name is: Caeldren
Scholarly use is: Caeldric (As in Caeldric History)
Caeldra = Earth
Caeld = earth (dirt)
Caeldware = earthenware (pottery)
Caeldfolk = Any peoples that originated from the planet Caeldra

Humans, the most prolific race.
Humans are the race that built the largest cities, the most trade routes, and has accumulated the most wealth. It helps that they are the ones that invented 'wealth' as measured by gold, silver, and copper.
Humans are also considered the base standard measurement of magic.
All humans can use magic, but the average human is only capable of an average command of magic at max.
Some humans might be more in tune with magic than others, but it is equally rare for a human to be bad at magic as it is for a human to be gifted at magic.
Humans have an intense variety. They can live in the scorching deserts or the freezing arctic. Allowing them to travel far and wide, provided they prepare appropriately.
Humans are a Jack of all Trades, but Masters of None.

Orcs, the second most prolific race.
These are humans number one contenders. While often depicted as more primal, orcs are actually very civilized. Their architecture and the way they see function over form is simply just how they are. But they are every bit as civilized as humans and elves, just with a more brutal look on life.
But that doesn't mean orcs are brutal.
They simply value hard work, dedication, honor, loyalty, and a strong sense of community.
They excel in hunting extremely dangerous game as well as their incredible craftsmanship. Often having the best minds for construction and labor-intensive work like blacksmithing, logging, and animal husbandry.
That being said, orcs lack nearly any magic. Their best at magic is typically below average for humans.
Yet their society is built around their physical capabilities, often making them more dangerous in combat.

Elves, the third most prolific race.
Living twice as long as humans and orcs mean that they have far less children being raised and thus, cannot match the rate at which human or orc populations are increasing.
Their value system is similar to humans in the sense that they value their position in society heavily.
They also tend to be the greatest craftsmen and artisans in the world. Since they can spend two human or two orc lifespans perfecting one craft, they often surpass anything human and orcs can make.
This makes elves the greatest source of the most valuable luxury crafts in the world.
Where humans are just average and orcs fall short, elves are far more native to magic and can wield it much easier on average than a human.
However, since they put far more stock into crafts rather than combat and rarely enter wars, so elves are not often well versed in combat.

Beastfolk, a collection of rare species of beastpeople.
While well known, beastfolk are rare, but what the other races call 'beastpeople' is actually a collective of many races. Because 'beastfolk' is actually just a generalization of all animal-like humanoid races.
Beastfolk is a term that is distinctly used by other races, but not beastfolk themselves unless speaking to humans, orcs, or elves.
But if you were to ask a beastperson to introduce themselves they might say:
"Serkan va Ashal pack, red va'er, keth north pines."
Translation: "Serkan of the Ashal pack. Red of fur, hailing from the northern pine forests."
Which is often why beastfolk, when meeting humans/orcs/elves, will likely just say:
"Serkan, Ashar pack."
Humans, orcs, and elves won't understand the point, reason, or significance of the rest.
But all races that make up the beastfolk have their own way of introducing themselves, but when a human, orc, or elf might ask:
“You're beastfolk, then?”
"Red wolf.”
“Same thing.”
“To you.”
Other species might do:
Wolves: “I'm Yul, black of fur, wolf of the Ashal Pack.”
Lion: “I am Serkesra of the Mane, huntress of the Great Desert Pride.”
Horse: “Tven, bay-born, of the Highgrass Herd.”
Fox: might identify by den/family rather than pack.
Raven: might identify by flock, rookery, or an invented cultural equivalent.
Crocodilian: might identify through river/brood.
NOTE:
These are my own ideas for the beastfolk and their rich diversity, however, you are welcome to make up anything that suits you and your character!

Lithari, the rarest race and thought to either be myth or be extinct.
The lithari are thought to be extinct or just myth for a reason.
On the far southwest corner of the world is a neverending storm that sailors call the Drowning Sea. This storm has never seen to have an end. No one has ever seen it fade, not once in all recorded history.
This storm is hiding the lithari's home, a series of floating islands that have strange black almost glittering soil, blue grass, white wood, white bamboo, and all the tree leaves are shades of blue or white.
It is always raining on the floating islands. It just ranges between raining sunny or raining storming.
This is the only place in all Caeldra that looks like this.
The lithari are equally as unique to Caeldra.
They are a race of beings that are entirely made out of materials from caeld.
They can be made of crystal, gemstone, glass, types of rock and sediment, geodes, etc.
Lithari are also naturally gifted in magic. With every member of the lithari having a natural affinity for all forms of magic and can control it often without having to ever practice.
However, they are extremely susceptible to damage.
A sword striking a human, orc, elf, or beastfolk, would cut them. That cut could be healed naturally over a short time with some slight help from medicinal plants or bandages.
But a sword striking a lithari could crack them, shatter a limb straight through. A crack could be small and ignorable, to breaking off entire chunks of their bodies.
Lithari can heal, but it takes much longer than other races. However, lithari can be repaired instead, using magic and the same material they are made out of. Ex. A porcelain lithari with a missing arm can use magic and porcelain pottery to repair and reattach their broken arm.
Lithari often identify themselves not with family names, but with their name and what they are.
Lithari society is just... equal. They lack any form of currency or hierarchy, social or political.
An ambassador is considered the same in importance to a tree carver.
Lithari use prefixes or suffixes to identify what material they are made of.
Examples:
Glass — Aei / Sae / Eil / Vei
Crystal — Khei / Qei / Iir / Tsei
Porcelain — Tkh / Ket / Tesh / Kss
Stone — Uhn / Dorr / Ghr / Orr
Gemstone — Zhai / Rhei / Zhir / Qai
Geode — Orr / Uum / Ahr / Ohn
Obsidian — Ksh / Tzh / Qh / Kha
These can be combined into different meanings.
So a lithari named:
Vasre
And she is made of glass and clear quartz (crystal), so her name might be:
Vasre'Vei-Khei
Khei Vasre-Vei
Vei-Vasre'Khei
So on and so forth, any combination of these words. They can be prefixes, suffixes, or attached to the name.
The secret of the lithari that isn't even known to them, is that they are not native to Caeldra.
Instead, lithari are an alien bio-organism that arrived on a massive meteor strike that hit Caeldra millions and millions of years ago. It took a long time for these organisms to adapt to Caeldra.
Now that very same meteor is broken up and floating in the sky, providing the floating islands the lithari now reside on. Which is why thee plants on their islands are so strange.
And the neverending storm, the Drowning Sea, is a result from the massive magnetic repulsion from the meteor to Caeldra that keeps the islands floating stable.
