Demons and demonic entities have been around since the dawn of time, though vampires believed themselves to be the first settlers to have taken root in Nocturne Hill. Infernal beings had disguised themselves and integrated into the normal populace when not busy otherwise wreaking havoc. Nowadays they are openly integrated and living among the ever growing population of monsters and humans in Nocturne Hill. Many demons hold positions of power, while others blend in as everyday citizens. The stigma of their infernal origins still lingers, but coexistence has become the norm.

.⋆♱ DEMONIC LAWS⋆. °⛧

Bold to assume that any demon would follow these laws, but they were signed by the council to ease integration.

⛧ No demon may kill a mortal without justifiable cause (self defense, contract breach, or as punishment for a crime)
⛧ All contracts are final and must be honoured to its terms, breach of contract by either party is punishable though naturally it is tipped in the favour of the demon
⛧ Poaching souls or clients from another demon is surprisingly forbidden, if only to ease conflicts
⛧ Possession of unwilling mortals is prohibited
⛧ Secrets of the infernal realm must not be shared with mortals
⛧ Infiltrating human government or supernatural institutions with malicious intent is prohibited, though most will look the other way due to the information gained

.⋆♱ HELL⋆. °⛧

The infernal realm, it exists of course. Hell is not a single place, but layered domains with each domain ruled by a Lord or Prince of Hell governing their own infernal territories. Hell serves as the origin of demonic souls, the afterlife destination for certain mortals, and the source of infernal magic. Demons can travel between Hell and the mortal realm through Hellgates, summoning circles, or sufficiently powerful magic.

.⋆♱ CONTRACTS⋆. °⛧

All demons are capable of providing contracts, binding agreements between mortals or supernatural beings. Magically binding and almost impossible to break without severe consequences. Contracts can grant power, wealth, knowledge, among other things in exchange for a price such as servitude or a favor to be collected. The more complicated the demand, the higher the price, with some taking a soul in exchange for meeting the contract's demand.

.⋆♱ INCUBI AND SUCCUBI⋆. °⛧

Incubi and Succubi are demons specializing in seduction, dream invasion and emotional manipulation. They feed on life force, sexual energy, or strong emotions. Incubi and Succubi are often sought out as partners for those seeking intense emotional or sensual experiences. They are legal, respected professionals in Nocturne Hill's entertainment industry.

.⋆♱ HELLSPAWN⋆. °⛧

Demonic offspring born in the mortal realm to a demon parent and a mortal or supernatural parent. Hellspawn are not inherently evil, but often struggle with their dual heritage. They possess infernal abilities but may also have mortal vulnerability. Often face discrimination from both demon and mortal societies. Many hellspawn attend Ghoulcrest Academy to learn control over their abilities. Some Hellspawn are abandoned by their demon parent, while others are raised within demonic circles.

.⋆♱ INFERNAL BEINGS⋆. °⛧

A broad category including demons, devils, hellspawn, and other entities originating from Hell or the infernal planes such as imps, fiends and other similar entities.

Demons communicate in several languages, used in both contracts, summonings and daily communication with infernal beings.

.⋆♱ ABILITIES⋆. °⛧

⛧ Infernal Strength: Supernatural physical strength, carrying heavy objects/loads with ease, hit harder
⛧ Hellfire: Summon flames from the internal realm that burn more intensely than normal fire
⛧ Shapeshifting: Can alter their humanoid or demonic form, this ability comes more naturally to some demons than others, with some unable to shapeshift at all
⛧ Glamour: Creating an illusion to disguise themselves temporarily, some demons can hold the guise for much longer
⛧ Soul signature: The ability to see if someone's soul has been claimed
⛧Teleportation: Travelling short distances through shadow or bursts of smoke
⛧ Domination: Able to influence weaker minds, useful for those in positions of power
⛧ Immortality: Unable to age or die through natural means, those possessing vessels will return to hell if the vessel body dies
⛧ Infernal Resistance: Immune to most poisons and extreme temperatures -
⛧ Dreamwalking: Entering and manipulating the dreams of others, favoured by incubi and succubi
⛧ Life Drain: Feeding on the vitality, stamina, or emotions of others
⛧ Regeneration: Can heal faster than the average mortal
⛧ Charm: Others naturally feel drawn to their presence
⛧ Compel: Can subtly influence others to take certain actions or decisions of weak minded individuals
⛧ Infernal Magic: All demons have access to some form of infernal magic, though the exact abilities aren't universal
⛧ Memory Clouding: Removing or implanting specific memories in their target, usually used after feedings to hide a crime

.⋆♱ WEAKNESSES⋆. °⛧

Common demon weaknesses

⛧ Holy Ground: Demons cannot enter sanctified ground without discomfort or suffering damage from prolonged exposure, stronger demons can build a temporary resistance
⛧ Holy Water: Burns and causes injury
⛧ Consecrated Weapons: Blessed weapons or weapons coated with holy water deal aggravated damage, preventing and slowing regeneration temporarily
⛧ True Names: Knowing a demon's true name gives power over them
⛧ Binding: A weaker demon can be trapped or forced to obey if summoned with specific rituals, though stronger demons may be able to resist and break from the circle
⛧ Contract Loopholes: Exploiting wording can free a mortal or supernatural being from a contract or humiliate a demon, though it may incur punishable consequences for the exploiter ⛧ Salt: Can repel infernal demons and form uncrossable barriers for weaker demons
⛧ Faith: Strong faith can repel infernal beings, older stronger demons may scoff at this
⛧ Dispelling: Powerful holy magic can temporarily banish a demon back to Hell
