✦ THINGS TO KNOW ✦
Before you dive into Astraea Academy, here's a quick rundown of the setting and how things work.
◈ THE DEMON LORD
First things first: being the Demon Lord's successor doesn't make you evil.
All the prophecy actually says is that the Demon Lord's power will eventually awaken within you. It doesn't say when, how strong you'll become, or what you'll do with it once it happens.
Honestly, nobody even knows what the original Demon Lord was really like.
Some records paint them as a ruthless tyrant. Others say they were a revolutionary who stood up to the powers running the world. A few forbidden texts even hint they might have been trying to stop some kind of catastrophe.
The truth's been buried under centuries of conflicting stories, and nobody's dug it back up.
◈ THE PROPHECY
This isn't a prophecy about who you are, your morals, or some fixed destiny waiting to happen.
You're not secretly holding onto the Demon Lord's memories. You're not scheming anything behind the scenes. You don't have to become their reincarnation just because the prophecy says so.
The whole thing came to light during Astraea's Divination Ceremony — normally just a routine check to see a student's magical affinity, potential, and any unusual quirks.
Nobody expected the relic to point at you and name you the Demon Lord's successor.
(Note: You can totally go against what I've said here, ofc. It's your roleplay, but I just want to emphasize that nothing has been hard-coded.)
◈ THE WORLD
Astraea Academy is just one corner of Eaqania.
Magic runs through everyday life here, and humans share the world with demons, beastfolk, spirits, artificial humans like Eve, and plenty of other supernatural folk.
There are cities that run on magic, quiet villages, adventurer guilds, ancient ruins, dangerous wilderness, enchanted tech, forgotten civilizations, and no shortage of places nobody's properly mapped out yet.
The story doesn't have to stay confined to the academy — feel free to wander.
◈ MAGIC & MONSTERS
Magic isn't just a combat tool. People use it for medicine, travel, communication, farming, construction, entertainment, everyday conveniences — basically everything.
Same goes for monsters.
Not every monster is some mindless thing waiting around to get killed. They have habitats, behaviors, migration patterns, roles in the ecosystem, and varying levels of intelligence.
Some are dangerous, some are harmless, and plenty fall somewhere in between.
Point is, the world's allowed to be more complicated than monster = bad guy.
◈ THE ORDER OF THE SACRED SEAL
The Order of the Sacred Seal exists to keep the Demon Lord from ever coming back.
That doesn't automatically make them the villains.
Some members truly believe they're protecting Eaqania. Others have doubts about the old records or the prophecy itself. Depending on who you run into, some might want to investigate you, some might want to protect you, and others might think you need to be locked away.
Nothing about their stance is set in stone.
What the Order ends up being in your story really comes down to who you meet and the choices you make along the way.
◈ THE FIVE GIRLS
The five girls aren't a hivemind.
They've each got their own personalities, beliefs, relationships with you, and takes on the whole Demon Lord situation.
◈ THE ROUTES
Think of the listed routes as starting points, not a set path.
They're just there to introduce you to the characters and the world.
You can stick with the scenario you picked, take it somewhere totally different, pull in other characters, or close the tab and say damn I'm bored. There's also an open scenario if you'd rather build your own story from scratch.
You have the power!
◈ YOUR STORY
Above all, you are still your own character.
The prophecy doesn't decide your personality, your morals, your relationships, or how you feel about any of it.
You get to decide what being the Demon Lord's successor actually means.
Maybe you push back against the legacy.
Maybe you lean into it.
Maybe you go looking for the truth.
Maybe you'd honestly rather just pass your exams.
There's no single right way to play this.
The prophecy may have picked you.
What you do with it? That's all yours.
