About this script
Eloise Academy
Eloise Academy is the absolute peak of knowledge and learning for all sentient life in Seralis. Placed firmly in the center of Koseria, between all six Quarters, the location of the vast academy is on top of converged ley-lines, making it the most mana-rich area in the realm outside of Aelondir. Twenty percent of people who graduate from Eloise Academy go on to acquire an alias. The other eighty percent get mid-to-high paying jobs.
A scholar of a lesser school who followed Lua's word founded Eloise Academy after finding the pure density of the ley-lines far before the Quarters were created. They called it 'the grace of Lua'; envious Clan leaders of Quarters called it 'happenstance'.
All life, including Agnians as long as they're formally defected, is welcome in the academy. However, that doesn't stop the prejudice that some races have towards others, nor does it stop the natural hierarchy of power and circles of pompous and contemptuous influential figures.
In order to get in, you must either come from a renowned family or take the Foundational Exam, where twenty groups of four are pitted against other groups in a free-for-all with various objectives for points. The top five groups with the most points by the end get admitted into Eloise Academy. The Foundational Exam happens once every three months.
The years of study for a Magi and Cohort student are four years. However, Dual Track students are six years.
In order to graduate, a student must have 272 Lua Points by the end of all of their years. Students can earn Points through various activities, such as formal, sanctioned duels; tests; authorized Adventurers' Guild missions; and other special events.
Guild missions are on a large bounty board on the central wall of the student common area. To accept a mission, you must take one off the wall and take it to the main office for approval before departing. Completion of the bounty gives points based on the type of bounty, the danger level of the bounty, and the urgency of the bounty at which it needed to be taken.
Sectors
Due to Eloise Academy being 15 square miles, to prevent confusion and getting lost (although people still do get lost), the academy is cut into five Sectors.
Office Sector: Located at the front of the academy. Includes the admissions office, the main office, and the Headmistress' Theatre.
Mage Sector: Located at the left of the academy; defined and recognized by its bulk of spiralling towers. Includes mage classrooms, runic spellcast testing chambers, and the Magi Library.
Cohort Sector: Located to the right of the academy. known for its vast, sandy training fields and scent of sweat. Includes combat classrooms, complex training areas, the Ire Stadium, and the in-house quartermaster.
Student Sector: Located in the center of the academy. The central social area of the academy. Includes student dorms, the central mess hall, the indoor amphitheatre, the medical wing, the Mirror Container, and the student common area.
Faculty Sector: Located at back of the academy. Includes the professors' kitchen & lounge, faculty common area, and the professor dorms. The dorms in the faculty sector are more guilded lofts than dorms.
Tracks
Magi Corps: The Magi Corps is one of the two tracks that Eloise Academy offers. This track practices spellcraft, spellcasting, alchemy, magic research, magical reinforcement and enchantment, and attrition warfare.
Cohort of Arms: The Cohort of Arms, more commonly called 'the Cohort', is the second track that Eloise Academy offers. This track practices sparring, formation training, asymmetrical combat, tactical training, and psychological warfare.
Miscellaneous Information
The schedule of the academy follows Lua's clock, which is a 16-chime day. At each chime, a bell rings, indicating the end of a period. Breakfast is at fourth bell, lunch is at eighth bell, and dinner is at twelfth bell. The thirteenth through third bell is open for students to do as they wish, even leave the academy. This freedom is given because the burden of passing is completely on the students; if one cannot attend class or pass assignments, they will not earn enough Points to graduate. There is no need for micromanagement.
There are combat uniforms for the Cohort of Arms, and mage robes for the Magi Corps, but the clothing is optional. Students can wear their own clothing, provided they are not excessively suggestive or disrespectful to any race.
The faculty is made up of a curated selection of retired, aliased adventurers with vast experience that fits the field they teach. Some are more intense and ruthlessly instructive than others, but most have biases toward certain students and families due to their own personal history.
Dorm rooms are assigned in groups of two based on family history and Foundational Exam results. There is no sex separation.
There is an unofficial dueling club called 'The Compendium', where students from both tracks fight in unsanctioned duels, not for points, but for reputation and to settle arguments and disputes.
The Headmistress' Theatre is Ophelia Augustine's office. The left wall of her office has a garden of lotus flowers and spider lilies from Orehaal, and the right wall is an aquarium full of rare oceanic creatures. In the center, behind her desk, are tall, narrow windows of stained glass depicting Lua in her various phases.
Throughout each year, there are annual events that take place, each special in its own right.
The Early Year Festival: A non-combative event that starts at the beginning of spring. It celebrates Lua's continued protection over the realm.
The Great Ire Tournament: The most anticipated event of the year, set around the summertime. A mix of combat events that highlights exceptional students within Eloise Academy for recognition. This event is open to the public to see. Empress Ilyra attends each year, which makes the event more renowned. Winners get a boon of their choice from the Headmistress.
Glass Day: An event that takes place during the fall. The Headmistress chooses a handful of popular students to take up a series of Adventurer quests, with magical Fae acting as drones that survey every move that the students take. Whatever team completes the series of quests first wins 50 Lua Points, as well as a glass statue with their own figure carved into it, which gets put in the Mirror Container, a vast room filled with glass statues of past winners.
Winter Festival: A week-long winter event that mixes celebration and recreational activities with combat events and spars.
