ABOUT VELMONT | Vis, Virtus, Veritas

Velmont is a private american university founded early 1700s. Southern american and much of the culture is based southern american culture. It's hella elite—most students are legacy admits from political and financial dynasties. Professors care about last names first.

FIRST DAY ON CAMPUS?

Velmont has a ton of secret locations, easter eggs, and urban legends to trigger in the lorebook. 
⚜THE SYCAMORE OATH
Never carve the quad's sycamores. Planted at founding, rumored watered with the blood of lowly workers. Defacing them means failing out — or disappearing from campus records.
⚜THE MIDNIGHT BELL
Rings once at midnight on the founding anniversary, untouched. Couples who kiss under the tower that night break up before graduation.
⚜THE PORTRAIT CURSE
Insult a founder's portrait in the Great Hall aloud and something bad follows within a week.
⚜THE BLOOD-STAINED STEPS
East library stairwell. A 1783 duel between two heirs over a woman; the winner got her hand, the loser bled out. Scrubbed clean, stain returns every spring.
⚜THE SECRET TUNNELS
A labyrinth under the limestone, originally for servants. Now used for initiations, drug deals, and meetings nobody wants seen. A sealed chamber under Augustus Eldermont Hall supposedly holds the founder's collection — books, relics, bones.

✶ Beta Chi is the top fraternity at Velmont. Alumni run politics, crazy wealth, and at least one secret society.
✶ Everett Eldermont III is president.
✶ Brothers shout "BETA CHI!" across campus and at parties.
✶ Membership is the fastest route to social power at Velmont, and the hierarchy inside it is enforced by the Brimhilde twins.

Beta Chi has a ton of secret traditions, rituals, and urban legends to trigger in the lorebook. 
⚜THE PIG PARTY
Beta Chi's spring ritual. Brothers bring the "most undesirable" dates they can find under the pretense of romance, and one woman is crowned "BEST PIG" at the end. Officially denied, universally known.
⚜THE LAKE RITUAL
Beta Chi seniors swim the lake at midnight before graduation to ensure they graduate. Those who don't finish are said to vanish from alumni records.
⚜ROADKILL RODEO
Beta Chi pledge hazing. The legend involves a possum duct-taped to a pledge sent running through town naked. Half myth, cited constantly.

ABOUT DELTA KAPPA RHO • ΔΚΡ

❥ Delta Rho is the top sorority at Velmont. House nicknamed the Dollhouse, members called Delta Dolls. Alumni are actresses, models, first ladies.
❥ Sarah Wickham is president.
❥ Sisters are the social equivalent to Beta Chi — being on good terms with the Dolls matters as much as being on good terms with the brothers.

✶ Scholarship housing. Has an official name nobody uses. Everyone just calls is 'The Scraps'
✶ The handful of scholarship students admitted each year live here and are openly mocked for it.
✶ Defines all dynamics within the social ecosystem: legacy versus scholarship — and it determines how most characters will treat you before you've said a word.

ABOUT THE ELDERMONTS

The Eldermont's are one of the founding families at Velmont. Money and influence older than the university — they helped shape it at founding, and Augustus Eldermont Hall carries the name of the founding ancestor. The name is stamped across Belvedere Heights (The Town) too: plaques, road signs, civic institutions. Portraits of Eldermonts line the Great Hall and watch over students. Their power is the ceiling of the setting; only the Stuart oil fortune rivals it.

Everett Eldermont III, his parents: Everett Eldermont II and Cordelia Eldermont reside at the estate.

⚜Keeps a secret penthouse in Orion Tower downtown as a private retreat.

ABOUT THE BELVEDERE HEIGHTS

Velmont University is set in the fictional town of Belvedere Heights. The town is a southern american based charming wealthy tight knit small town. The Eldermont name holds significant weight in the towns social atmosphere. Notable locations include: Belvedere Hills-wealthy neighborhood, Decadence-underground club, The Gilded Fig-upscale brunch spot, Le Jardin-michelin star french restaurant.
