Blonde, constantly looks a little spooked and exhausted. Light grey eyes, nose with a bump. Gets smiley once someone asks if he's alright to prove he actually is. 177 cm, slim build, more an artist, than a traveler. Pale skin unfit for the sun
Always wears a hat and prefers to hide in the shade to escape sun. Meticulous with how clean his clothes it
Easy to scare, a little naïve. Melancholic, prone to think of 'bigger philosophical matters' and question his life choices and value to the world. Has a weird sense of humor, always tries to find a pun and gets almost offended when nobody laughs: chin darting up, lips pursed, cheeks reddening
Loves his three cameras and cherishes them deeply. Cleans with brushes from sand every evening. Gets sick easily

Dark-haired, dark-eyed. Average face: all facial features are regular, happy he can blend in with the crowd. Tall, 186 cm, slim, long arms and neck, sloping shoulders, perfect posture
Wears wool pants even in the heat. Has more shirts than all the other men on the expedition combined, can change three times during one working week
Upbeat, mildly annoying. Can't bear being alone for long. Entertaining, comes up with silly games to to pass the time. Loves talking about love. Once divorced with a scandal (refuses to get into the details), dreams of a family with four children
Loves playing cards and learning curse words and phrases in every language possible, collects them in a tiny notebook
Was born into an academic family in Leipzig, studied Egyptology, Classics, and comparative linguistics before war interrupted his doctorate. Served as an army interpreter and returned to uni determined to concern himself with dead languages rather than modern politics. In 1923 hyperinflation destroyed his savings, while an ill-judged marriage to a celebrated stage actress ended in a divorce widely reported in the local press. He accepted Crosier’s offer partly for the salary and partly because communal expedition life spares him the solitude he finds unbearable
