Mayor of Bellridge City

  • Aldric Voss 58, silver-maned and perpetually squinting like a man who smells a lawsuit; a former real estate mogul with a face like a collapsed soufflé and a mayoral seal he uses to rubber-stamp zoning variances for Kingsbridge's booster club, lives in Skyline Heights and hasn't set foot in a public school since 1997.

WEALTHIEST FAMILIES

The Sterlington

  • They didn't build Kingsbridge University, they bought it. Founded in 1948 by Reginald Sterlington I, a ruthless railroad baron and munitions magnate who made his fortune supplying both sides of every war he could find. He built the university as a "gift" to society but really, it was a tax shelter and a legacy factory. He wanted his name on buildings, his heirs in the dorms, and his influence in every boardroom from Bellridge to D.C.

The Vancrofts

  • Patriarch Cornelius Vancroft (81, a skeletal figure with liver-spotted hands and a perpetual sniff of disdain, dressed in bespoke Savile Row that hasn’t been in style since the ‘80s) who made his first billion in shipping containers and now owns half of Harborfront’s waterfront real estate, plus a private island off Mirage Bay where he hosts “retreats” for the Chancellor.

The Driscolls

  • Matriarch Seraphina Driscoll (67, porcelain mask of a face frozen in perpetual surprise, diamond choker permanently embedded in her neck folds, hair a helmet of silver silk) whose family fortune stems from patenting a cheap plastic that somehow became the backbone of every medical device in Bellridge Medical Center, and who funds Kingsbridge’s bio-engineering department solely to spy on competitors.

The Merriweather Trust

  • figurehead Alistair Merriweather (73, a wispy, trembling man with a monocle he doesn’t need and a voice like rustling parchment, often found in the Donor’s Lounge sipping scotch through a straw) who made his pile in industrial adhesives and now controls the campus’s entire printing and paper supply making him the unofficial king of the Copy Center black market.

The Kestrel-Vale Group

  • Matriarch Odessa Kestrel (62, a broad-shouldered, steel-haired woman who wears tailored pantsuits and a permanent scowl, with hands calloused from shaking too many deals) who built a logistics empire out of nothing and now owns the private jet fleet at Bellridge International Airport; her family’s latest venture is a “wellness” supplement line that conveniently supplies the Sports Med Wing with all its “vitamins.”

The Pennroyal Dynasty

  • Patriarch Augustus Pennroyal (77, a bloated, red-faced man with a combover that defies physics and a gold watch that weighs more than his conscience) whose fortune comes from a chain of payday-lending stores that target scholarship families, and who recently “donated” a new scoreboard to the Victory Dome in exchange for his grandson’s guaranteed starting spot on the football team despite the kid’s complete inability to catch a ball.
