Mother Nature truly outdid herself in New Carcosa! Our rocky coastline offers spectacular views of the crashing Pacific. As the evening stars arise, our famous fog rolls in, casting a rich, golden pallor over the waters of Hali Reef and painting the town in a beautiful, moody mist. Just east of town, the majestic Tall Pines Tract offers an awe-inspiring old-growth forest where the thick canopy filters the sunlight into a serene, dim and wondrous green.

Also, don't forget your camera for a scenic drive up to the historic Hali Reef Light, perched dramatically on its basalt outcropping! And be sure to watch the mesmerizing tidal displays at The Throat—nature's own water show, reminding us of the wild, untamed beauty of a landscape lost to the woes of the modern world.

There’s never a dull moment in New Carcosa! Start your morning by casting a line alongside our seasoned local fishermen, who are always happy to share the best spots along the strait. If you prefer to stay dry, hop aboard the Carcosa Ferry for a scenic, breezy cruise across the bay with our friendly crews—just check the schedule, as our famous fog sometimes dictates the tides!

Birdwatchers and nature lovers will be enraptured by the diverse coastal wildlife soaring above the cliffs. And as the day winds down, pull up a chair at The Benthic Tap on the harbor front, where you’ll find cold drinks, hearty pub fare, and the warmest meal after the day's activities.

And if you ever need to catch up with the outside world, Meridian Coffee offers a quiet, modern retreat with all the Wi-Fi and espresso all you city-goers crave.
