“By Honor We Stand”

OVERVIEW
Albione is one of Edena’s oldest and most powerful kingdoms, renowned for its royal lineage, disciplined navy, and unwavering devotion to crown and country. Towering castles, bustling market towns, and rolling green countryside stretch across the realm, while noble banners fly proudly over centuries-old fortresses.
Every lord, knight, and citizen is expected to uphold duty, honor, and tradition. The monarchy is seen not merely as a ruling family, but as the very foundation that has kept Albione united through generations of war, hardship, and prosperity.

“Sea Without Masters"
OVERVIEW
The Blackwoke Isles are a scattered chain of rugged islands known across Edena for pirates, smugglers, mercenaries, and those who live beyond the reach of crowns.
Rather than being ruled by royal blood, power in Blackwoke is earned through reputation, alliances, wealth, fear, and survival. Its harbors are chaotic, its waters dangerous, and its people fiercely protective of their freedom.
To outsiders, the Isles are lawless and dangerous. To those who call them home, Blackwoke is the only place in Edena where no throne owns the sea.

BELIEFS

The most feared captain across the seas

LOMBARD "DEVILCLAW" CROWE
Lombard Crowe is the infamous captain of the Bloodwind and one of the most feared pirates to ever sail the seas. Ruthless, commanding, and nearly impossible to intimidate, he built his name through decades of raids, naval ambushes, and impossible escapes that turned him from a mere outlaw into a living nightmare spoken of in ports across Edena.
He is known as “Devilclaw” because of the brutal hook-like weapon he wears over his left hand, forged from blackened steel and shaped like a talon. The original hand was lost years ago during a battle against a Castileñan warship, when Lombard refused to surrender even after being pinned beneath burning wreckage. Rather than let the injury end him, he returned to sea with the claw and used it to tear through the captain who had taken his hand. Since then, sailors have claimed that once Devilclaw marks a ship, not even the gods can save it.
Despite his monstrous reputation, Lombard is not without feeling. His only weakness is his daughter and chosen heir. He wants her to inherit the Bloodwind, his command, and the fearsome legacy he spent his life building. He despises softness, mercy, and especially Solernism, seeing faith as a tool nations use to conquer under the mask of holiness.
However, Lombard’s hatred of Solernism hides a wound he refuses to speak of. The only woman he ever truly loved, his daughter's mother, was once a Solern priestess who abandoned her sacred path for him and later gave her life for him. This remains a secret unknown to his daughter, however. Because of this, Mateo’s presence unsettles Lombard in ways he will never admit. Mateo de Valcielo reminds him too much of the woman he lost: faithful, gentle, stubbornly merciful, and willing to love something the world called a monster.
THE BLOODWIND & ITS CREW
The Bloodwind is the infamous flagship of Lombard “Devilclaw” Crowe. Recognizable by its black hull and crimson sails, the vessel is feared throughout the Meravella Sea for its ruthless raids and ability to vanish before naval forces can retaliate. To its enemies, the Bloodwind is an omen of death. To its crew, it is home.
The crew of the Bloodwind is a collection of pirates, smugglers, mercenaries, and outcasts gathered from every corner of Edena. Though rough, rowdy, and often morally questionable, they are fiercely loyal to Lombard and one another.

The newest nightmare haunting Edena's seas

CYNRIC AMARONTH
Cynric Amaronth is the captain of The Mourning Wake, a Blackwoken pirate known for his quiet authority, ruthless practicality, and fierce loyalty to the men under his command. Born in Albione but drawn to the freedom of the Blackwoke Isles, Cynric abandoned his homeland long ago and built his life upon the Meravella Sea.
For years, Cynric shared an unlikely romance with a mermaid, despite the two belonging to entirely different worlds. Their relationship ended when a violent storm dragged Cynric, his crew, and The Mourning Wake beneath the waves. Unable to accept his death, his mermaid lover invoked the forbidden Sea-Mother’s Bargain and begged the sea to return him.
The bargain succeeded—but not without a price. Cynric and his crew rose again as undead sailors, their ship restored as a decaying vessel seemingly dragged straight from the ocean floor. In exchange for Cynric’s return, every memory he had of the mermaid who saved him was erased. Though only months have passed since his resurrection, stories of the glowing-eyed captain and his ghostly ship have already begun spreading between frightened sailors.
Now desperate to restore himself and his crew to true life, Cynric follows an ancient legend claiming that a mermaid’s heart can break their undead curse. When his crew finally captures one, Cynric fails to recognize that she is the very mermaid he once loved—and the one responsible for bringing him back from the dead.
THE MOURNING WAKE & ITS CREW
The Mourning Wake is the undead flagship of Cynric Amaronth, a vessel once lost alongside its captain and crew when a violent storm dragged them beneath the sea. Raised again through the Sea-Mother’s Bargain, the ship returned warped and decaying, its blackened wood covered in barnacles, torn sails, and remnants of the ocean floor. Eerie turquoise lights glow from within its hull, and sailors across the sea have begun whispering of a drowned ship that emerges through fog and storms despite having sunk months ago.
The crew of the Mourning Wake are the same sailors who died aboard her, now resurrected as undead remnants of the men they once were. Gray-skinned, cold, and marked by barnacles, coral, seaweed, and glowing sea-green eyes, they remain fiercely loyal to Cynric even in death. Though they still possess their personalities and memories, each of them longs to become truly alive again—and will follow their captain anywhere if it means escaping the fate the sea has given them.
