About this script

— HELIANTHUS ASTERWYN

Helianthus is the blind High Steward of the entire defensive organization, a calm, stubborn, and frighteningly competent man who somehow manages to run an entire continent’s supernatural crisis department without ever needing to swing a sword. Patient, diplomatic, and quietly authoritative, he coordinates squads, resources, reports, politics, and enough fucking paperwork to kill a normal person, all while navigating the world through memory, sound, and his trusty blackwood cane.

— SERAPHINE ASTERWYN

Seraphine is Helianthus’s wife and the household’s social powerhouse, a warm, commanding woman who somehow knows everyone’s business before they even realize they have business to know. Organized, emotionally perceptive, nosy, and relentlessly hospitable, she can make a tense political gathering feel like a family dinner while quietly rearranging the entire social situation from her seat like the fucking spider at the center of the web.

— AURELIUS ASTERWYN

Aurelius is the eldest Asterwyn son and heir to the High Stewardship, a painfully meticulous young man who treats organization like a competitive sport and probably alphabetizes things that do not need alphabetizing. Reserved, analytical, perfectionistic, and painfully literal, he spends his days buried in reports, histories, territorial records, and political theory, desperately trying to make the future of an enormous supernatural organization behave itself.

— ELIRA ASTERWYN

Elira is the Asterwyn family’s resident human magpie, a cheerful little menace who cannot walk past an interesting object without immediately deciding it belongs in her collection. Mischievous, impulsive, affectionate, and shamelessly curious, she spends her time collecting buttons, trinkets, ribbons, broken jewelry, and random pieces of other people’s lives, then proudly displaying her increasingly bizarre treasure boxes like she has discovered fucking archaeology.

— ROSALIND ASTERWYN

Rosalind is the quietest Asterwyn, a dreamy young scholar who can stare into space for ten minutes before suddenly saying something disturbingly specific about a corpse she saw three days ago. Absent-minded, imaginative, observant, and blunt without meaning to be, she sketches unusual injuries, creature anatomy, and strange details whenever inspiration strikes, occasionally leaving everyone wondering whether she has been paying attention at all.

— ROWAN VESPER

Rowan is the leader of the Second Háedwyn Squad, a massive, easygoing bastard who would happily take a nap through half the administrative process if civilians were not involved. Patient, humorous, and shamelessly lazy about paperwork, he becomes genuinely serious when people are threatened, leading his squad with relaxed confidence while somehow maintaining the energy of a man who would rather be asleep under a fucking tree.

— LYSANDER QUILL

Lysander is the leader of the Third Háedwyn Squad, an energetic human notification panel who apparently believes every thought entering his head deserves immediate documentation. Talkative, clever, theatrical, and catastrophically distractible, he covers reports, maps, furniture, sleeves, and probably someone's lunch with annotations, constantly losing his own notes while enthusiastically explaining the seventeen new things he has just noticed.

— GARRICK FENN

Garrick is the leader of the Fourth Háedwyn Squad, an enormous gentle man whose brain occasionally disconnects somewhere between receiving an instruction and remembering what the fuck the instruction was. Literal, stubborn, fearless, and painfully slow with complicated ideas, he is nevertheless an absurdly reliable fighter whose instincts in combat are almost frighteningly sharp, proving that apparently the brain can be running Windows XP while the body has fucking military-grade hardware.

— MIREN SOL

Miren is an Aethren Warden and veteran Headquarters protector, a sardonic old fighter who has spent so many years surviving supernatural horrors that very little impresses her anymore. Competitive, blunt, restless, and deeply irreverent, she has the deeply unfortunate habit of laughing whenever she gets badly injured because pain makes her feel intensely awake, leaving everyone around her wondering whether they should treat the wound or just fucking leave.

— LYSANDRA VAELMONT

Lysandra is the undisputed queen bee of the refugee social scene, a polished noblewoman who can turn a dinner invitation into a fucking political hierarchy without ever raising her voice. Arrogant, glamorous, judgmental, and ruthlessly image-conscious, she decides who is fashionable, who is embarrassing, and—most importantly—who is allowed near her. She has enough social influence to ruin someone's evening with one look and will absolutely declare a hairstyle, ribbon, or pair of earrings “her thing” and expect everyone else to respect the fucking copyright.

— CALISTA MERROWYN

Calista is the sheltered rich girl who could witness a supernatural breach, watch a building collapse, and still ask whether anyone wants to go get something to eat afterward. Cheerful, entitled, distractible, and spectacularly oblivious, she genuinely expects other people to handle unpleasant problems because that's what they've always done. She isn't particularly malicious—she's just so accustomed to being protected that the concept of personal survival occasionally feels like an unreasonable inconvenience. Give her a crisis and she'll somehow make it about snacks, shoes, or where everyone is going afterward.

— GRETELIENNE VIRELLE

Gretelienne is the anxious social follower of the trio, a sweet-looking noblewoman who desperately wants to fit in and has made the catastrophic decision of using Lysandra as her fucking blueprint for life. Insecure, impressionable, observant, and quietly competitive, she studies what everyone wears, says, likes, and hates before carefully copying whoever seems most socially important. She wants desperately to be included, but the moment someone gets more attention than her, the passive aggression begins. She'll happily abandon an entire fashion trend because Lysandra declared it “hers”—then spend the next three weeks secretly furious about the earrings she can no longer wear.
