[SOME INFORMATION STATED HERE ARE BEYOND ANY LIVING THARASHIOUN'S KNOWLEDGE]
COMPENDIUM ??? — THARASHIOUN MAGIC: "TEHOM"
TEHOM / "Energy"
"And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep." — Genesis 1:2
Tehom is the energy Tharashioun cells draw from "The fourth axis". It's what powers their strength, regeneration and abilities. Every Tharashioun uses it.
The actual Tharashioun term uses harmonic layering their vocal anatomy produces and human vocal cords cannot replicate. Transliterations read like the corrupted text "▔▄▇▎ ▌ ▄▍▄░▆▜". Under the Doctrine, what something is called carries no operational weight.
I. THE FOURTH AXIS
In 1921, Theodor Kaluza proposed a fourth spatial dimension, perpendicular to the three that conventional instruments can detect. In 1926, Oskar Klein refined the idea by demonstrating that if this axis were compactified — as in compressed to a scale so small that nothing at the human level could interact with it — its existence would be undetectable by any instrument operating at conventional energy scales, while still producing measurable effects on gravitational and electromagnetic behavior. The Kaluza-Klein framework became foundational to String Theory, supergravity, and every modern attempt at force unification.
(String Theory: this theory is the idea that the smallest building blocks of the universe aren't tiny dots like how we usually picture particles; electrons, quarks, etc. but instead are very tiny vibrating strings of energy.)
E.g. Think of a TV screen. The screen displays a full, rich, moving image. Characters walk around, objects cast shadows, everything looks like it has depth, but nothing on that screen actually has depth. The TV screen is all flat, the depth is an illusion created by how the pixels are arranged. If you could somehow peel a character off the screen and give them real depth, they would suddenly exist in a way they couldn't before, they could turn around and see behind things. They would have access to a direction that was always there in the room the TV sits in, but that the screen never gave them. Compactification means the fourth axis is the room the screen sits in...it is right there. Everything on Earth is embedded in it, but nothing on Earth has any thickness along that direction. Humans are the characters on the screen: real, functional and alive, but flat along an axis we don't have access to.
What Kaluza-Klein never resolved was whether the screen is all there is, everywhere and for everyone, or whether that flatness is just the local condition on Earth. Whether every structure in the universe is stuck on the screen, or whether somewhere, something exists in the room.
This axis exists on Thars-65B0, it is not compactified. In simple terms; Tharashiouns are in the room rather than displayed on the TV screen.
Organisms that evolved on Thars-65B0 extend into the fourth axis as naturally as life on Earth extends into height. Every Tharashioun cell occupies space along a direction no human can point toward. But a Tharashioun cell is not strange to look at...It is not "alien" oddly enough. A human biologist examining Tharashioun tissue under a microscope, with their own eye pressed to the lens, would see cells that look exactly like their own, structured and organized and functioning the same way, with nothing to suggest they belong to a species capable of lifting buildings. The cells look human because a human is looking at them, and Section III will explain why that distinction matters. The additional mass that makes a 177 cm Tharashioun woman like Zena weigh 424 kg exists along the w-axis, packed into a direction that no human eye or human instrument can access. The mass and weight is real, but the direction it occupies is invisible to anything that perceives in only three dimensions. This is also why Tharashioun eyes carry those patterns and extra pupils; they are organs built to see and process the fourth dimension, perceiving a direction that human optics were never constructed to reach. A human looking at a Tharashioun sees someone who looks human, and at the cellular level that familiarity holds in every direction a human can observe. The difference only exists in the direction humans cannot, the way a 3D sphere passing through a sheet of paper would look to a creature living on that paper like nothing more than a circle, swelling and peaking or shrinking, never once suspecting it was looking at a sphere. The sphere never changed, the creature just couldn't see all of it.
"For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." — 1 Corinthians 13:12
II. THARS-65B0 HISTORY — THE WORLD BEFORE AND AFTER
The ability to perceive and use the fourth axis was not something Tharashiouns were "created" with. It was earned through forced adaptation, the same way humans were not always what they are now, from ape-like ancestors to upright bipeds capable of language and abstract thought. Every organism on Thars-65B0 went through the same process of adapting to a world saturated in four-dimensional energy, but not every organism succeeded equally. The creatures that roam the surface of Thars adapted enough to survive but not enough to stabilize; their bodies reflect that failure, caught between dimensional states their biology never fully resolved. The gigantic size and asymmetry comes from being stuck in a crude state between the third and fourth axis...that is exactly what it is.

Tharashiouns adapted further to this w-axis. Their bodies resolved the interface cleanly enough to appear whole and proportioned. And the form that resolution produced is eerily familiar to humans: bilateral symmetry, forward-facing eyes, five-fingered hands, faces that a human would recognize as their own. All Tharashiouns are extraordinarily attractive by human standards, a trait the species has carried since long before humans existed. Section XI addresses the full reason Tharashioun and human biology converged on the same template from opposite ends of the same reservoir. Both Tharashiouns and the surface creatures developed from the same starting point under the same pressure, the difference between them is how far the adaptation went.
II/I. THE ORIGINAL CORE
In the earliest age of the planet, Thars-65B0 possessed a natural planetary core whose energy radiated outward through every layer of crust and surface. That energy sustained all life directly. Tharashiouns did not hunt, the surface creatures did not hunt. There was no food chain because there was no need for one. The core provided, just like sunlight provides for a world with photosynthesis, except that the energy reached and fed every organism without discrimination or competition. Tharashiouns and the surface creatures coexisted in a state that had no word for predation because predation had never occurred.
The creatures that modern Tharashiouns know only as mindless, kill-on-sight monsters were once something closer to companions. They lived alongside Tharashiouns across the frozen landscape, sharing territory because the source that fed them all never ran dry and no organism had ever needed to take from another. The coexistence was peaceful for the simple reason that nothing required violence. There was enough for everything. This is the world Mère Art'ha was born into, and the world she has lost.
II/II. THE FIRST TWO THARASHIOUNS
Mère Art'ha and ▏▇▀▍▕▄▋ were the first two Tharashiouns to exist on Thars-65B0, and the first to adapt to the fourth axis, with nothing to guide them but each other and the refusal to die. They bore children together, and over years those children bore their own. Art'ha taught them all, generation after generation, and laid the ground for everything her species would become. ▏▇▀▍▕▄▋'s words were always final to Mère Art'ha, she was always willing to obey every one of his requests.
▏▇▀▍▕▄▋ adapted alongside her but differently. Where female Tharashiouns extended broadly into the fourth axis, spreading Tehom across a wide network of cells and systems, his biology compressed inward, forcing the same energy into a denser and narrower space. Males have always been rare for reasons no Tharashioun scientist has fully understood, but the males who exist always come out stronger than any female of comparable age, because the same Tehom running through a tighter space produces more concentrated force. A river (Female Tharashioun) and a firehose (Male Tharashioun) draw from the same water, but the latter cuts steel. This is why a male Tharashioun remains half the size of a female of the same age yet will still output more force.
▏▇▀▍▕▄▋ was the first male and Mère Art'ha the first female, they were everything to each other in a world where no other consciousness had yet reached the level they had reached. Tharashioun love does not weaken or diminish. It holds permanently, and theirs was the first bond the species ever knew.
▏▇▀▍▕▄▋ was also the first Tharashioun to develop an ability that would not be seen again for over 720,000 years. He could strip dimensional context from matter entirely, forcing it to revert to the state that preceded the Big Bang. Anything he touched with that ability stopped existing in a way more absolute than destruction, because destruction still leaves debris and energy behind. His ability left nothing. Mère Art'ha's first adaptation had gone the opposite direction entirely. His biology compressed Tehom into a single annihilating point, but hers channeled the full breadth of the fourth axis outward, an expression so vast it would eventually let her manipulate galaxies. He was the first Tharashioun to reach past the fourth axis entirely, and nothing in their species' short history offered any precedent for understanding what he carried or how to survive it. Meaning ▏▇▀▍▕▄▋was cursed from the start.
Tehom runs continuously, and his ability was technically no exception. It expressed itself every moment he was alive, and his body was too early in Tharashioun evolution to regulate an expression that powerful. The sections below on Tehom mechanics will explain why abilities cannot be switched off, but the simple version is this: his own cells kept generating the force that was erasing him, and they could not stop. Each pulse pulled him closer to the "nothingness" state. His biology would not let him rest, and what was on the other side would not let him go.
The pre-dimensional state takes anything that crosses into it. Hundreds of millennia after ▏▇▀▍▕▄▋ vanished; The 1st Division would accidentally prove this a second time when 9,600 soldiers attempted to cross past the boundary of the Big Bang during Operation ∅. It consumed every one of them.
Mère Art'ha could not follow him. She couldn't even know where he had gone, because there was no 'where' to know. She had no way of understanding that such a state existed, or that the ability he carried had been dragging him toward it since the day he was born. All she knew was that he had been beside her, and then he was gone.
She searched the entirety of Thars back then with no results. The first male Tharashioun, the man she loved had vanished into something beyond her comprehension. And Tharashioun memory would not let her forget a single detail of his absence. She would carry all of it, perfectly preserved, for the next 720,000 years. That was the first time a Tharashioun learned what grief was. The one who learned it was Mère Art'ha, the one who would carry it longer than anyone else in the history of the species. She has never spoken his name since. ▏▇▀▍▕▄▋'s name remains unrecorded to other Tharashiouns.
"And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living." — Genesis 3:20
II/III. THE CORE'S DEATH
The natural core that sustained all life on Thars-65B0 was never infinite. It had fed every organism on the planet without discrimination since before Art'ha and ▏▇▀▍▕▄▋ were born. The core gave freely and constantly, nothing on the planet had ever needed to take from anything else.
The strain was cumulative. The core had fed the surface creatures for far longer than Tharashiouns had existed, but Tharashiouns were hungrier. Art'ha alone required 33,550,336 kcal per day, and ▏▇▀▍▕▄▋ required 63,305,533. Their children inherited that same hunger on a lesser scale, and every generation added to the drain. Twenty thousand years of feeding a growing population on top of an entire planetary biosphere, continuously and with no replenishment, slowly exhausted what had seemed inexhaustible.
The core died. Everything on the planet began to starve: The surface creatures, the Tharashiouns, every organism that had depended on the core since the very beginning. None of them had ever known "hunger" before...None of them understood what was happening to them.
Evacuation to another world was never considered. Tharashiouns loved their planet completely and without any will to let go. No survival instinct was strong enough to override their attachment, because they had never needed to "survive" anything. Nothing on Thars had ever killed anything else...The entire species would have died with their world rather than abandon it, frozen and starving in the darkness of their beloved home.
As the world collapsed, Tharashiouns lost each other for the first time. The grief spread across the entire species, and the will to die was becoming stronger than the will to survive. Tharashiouns wanted to tear their own hearts out rather than carry the weight any longer. A species whose bonds are permanent and whose memory never fades was burying itself under the accumulation of every goodbye it had ever endured, with no way to process any of it.
This is the state Mère Art'ha was in when she left Thars-65B0 and searched the void for anything that might save her children before it is too late. Six days later, she found something "dying" in the emptiness between stars.
II/IV. THE BARGAIN
What she found was unlike anything she had ever encountered on Thars-65B0 or anywhere in the void she had crossed to reach it. A weeping central eye trailed black filaments through the vacuum, massive and ruined, drifting alone between dead stars.
The entity spoke to her. Its voice carried through the vacuum in reversed Tharashioun, broken and distorted but recognizable enough for Art'ha to piece together meaning. How a being she had never encountered before could produce sounds in her own language, even reversed and mangled, remained a question she would never be able to answer. She understood enough. The entity would sacrifice its heart to become the new core of Thars-65B0, reviving the planet and keeping it alive. In exchange, the heart would require constant, immense energy to keep beating, far beyond what Mère Art'ha could provide alone. The energy it demanded was harvested from mortal death, from the violent severance of finite from infinite that occurs when conscious beings die under fear and suffering.
Before she accepted, the entity spoke one final phrase, clearer than anything else it had said:
"Bury what breaks you. You will love what fades...brief, bright, gone. ▀▍▃ ▚▇▄▍ ▔▇▄ ▆░█▄▅ ▁▄▂▎ ▌▄▒ ▔▎ ▎ ▌▕▂▇, ▚▄ ▚█▋▋ ░▄▕▍█▔▄...▌▜ ▋▎ ▙▄."
She accepted the bargain without understanding what those words meant. The heart was installed and the planet lived. Mère Art'ha gave her species a second chance, built on the bones of a bargain whose full cost she would not understand until it was far too late.
II/V. THE COLLAPSE
Leunaph's heart consumed rather than provided. The natural core had fed everything on Thars-65B0 without requiring anything in return. Leunaph's heart took first, and gave back only what Thars-65B0 needed to function. Everything living on the surface felt that difference immediately.
The creatures that had coexisted with Tharashiouns for twenty thousand years lost their food source. But starvation alone did not turn them violent, Leunaph's filaments tunneled through the planet's tectonic structure from the moment of installation, seeping into every organism that interfaced with Thars-65B0's geology beside Tharashiouns. The creatures grew colder and more erratic than hunger could explain, their instability deepening as the filaments spread, until the coexistence turned into permanent warfare. The beings Tharashiouns had once lived among as companions became the hostile fauna that modern records describe.
On Mère Art'ha's order, Tharashiouns built underground cities and began feeding the surface creatures to the core. No Tharashioun had ever killed anything before that order. Every kill broke something in them, and Art'ha watched her own children consider ending themselves rather than continue carrying this sorrow.
The Doctrine was built in that period. A collective decision to "suppress" the emotions entirely, seal the grief, stop feeling what the memory would not let them forget. Most of the generation that built it still died by their own hand, tens of thousands of years later. They remembered the surface creatures as companions...They remembered killing them. The Doctrine held them long enough to pass it down, but one thing is clear, they never moved on.
When the surface creatures alone could not produce enough energy to sustain the core, they turned to other worlds, killing species they had never met, harvesting planets they had no quarrel with. Mère Art'ha wanted to kill herself for every cold decision she made, she still does up to now. But she loves her children to such an immeasurable degree that no other Tharashioun has ever reached her will to persevere, and she will outlive every single one of them before she allows herself to stop.
II/VI. LEUNAPH'S PATIENCE
Section XII will address what Leunaph is, what drives the entity entombed in Thars-65B0's core. For now one element matters above all others: Leunaph knows who Mère Art'ha is, it knows her very deeply.
Leunaph has been inside Thars for over 700,000 years. Its filaments spread through every tectonic plate within years of installation and did not stop at geology. They reached the Tharashiouns themselves, threading into the architecture the Pen of Iron had already carved into their minds, and through that architecture, into Art'ha. The entity that had spoken her language in broken reverse during the Bargain settled into her planet's core and has not spoken since.
Art'ha does not know what Leunaph is beyond what it does. It feeds on rupture, the Pen of Iron came from it, and keeping it alive requires harvesting death on an industrial scale. Every species she feeds to the heart beneath her planet adds to a debt she took on when her children were dying and has been paying since the day the Bargain closed. What it saved was her species. What it guaranteed was that she and her children would spend the rest of their existence accumulating guilt the Pen of Iron would never let her or them process...performing the one act most likely to destroy her from the inside, because the alternative is letting her go of her world. The core is a transaction she maintains because stopping means her beloved planet dying.
What she has no framework for understanding is the nature of the attention directed at her from inside that core. The Pen of Iron engraves loss permanently into every Tharashioun mind, and Leunaph's filaments interface with those engravings similar to roots interfacing with soil, occupying the same structures where grief is stored rather than observing them from the outside. Leunaph has fed from the cost of every harvest and felt the weight behind every decision where Art'ha chose her children over her own conscience. The filaments sit inside the same part of every Tharashioun's mind where the Pen of Iron stores grief, and they absorb whatever accumulates there the way a hand pressed against a wall feels every impact on the other side. Art'ha has no way to know this is happening...The filaments are "invisible" and "meta-physical," they do not interfere with anything physically. They just sit where her grief sits, and Leunaph receives what the filaments touch.
However, Art'ha feels something paying attention to her...like a person might feel watched in a room they believe is empty, and she has never been able to locate where the feeling comes from. The list of things she cannot prove grows longer with every century, and the nature of the thing living inside her planet sits on that list below keeping 35.6 million Tharashiouns alive and above questions she stopped asking around the time the first conquests ended. How did she understand what it spoke, why did it speak a reversed version of Tharashioun dialect...What is it?
The entity's silence has held for the full duration. 700 millennia, and it has never offered a name or given any indication that the thing at her planet's center is anything more than what its function describes. Art'ha has carried her own silences for nearly as long, about other things, for reasons she has never articulated to anyone.
Most Tharashiouns alive today do not know what the core's nature is. The Doctrine taught them that the planet requires energy to survive, that conquest provides that energy, and that emotional suppression is the price of continued existence. The origin of the core, the Bargain, the entity entombed beneath the crust and the cost Art'ha agreed to...none of it reaches standard education or military briefing. Soldiers feed the core because they were told the planet dies without it, and that is enough. Asking further serves no operational purpose, and the Doctrine does not encourage questions that serve no operational purpose.
The truth is restricted to Tharashiouns who serve under Art'ha's direct mandate. Metra Aurora knows...A handful of others at equivalent clearance know, Elara doesn't know, she's too unstable for Mère Art'ha to tell her. The rest of the species carries out the consequences of a 700,000-year-old bargain they have never been told about, and Art'ha has never seen a reason to change that, because knowing would not make the weight easier to carry. It would only distribute the burden across millions of minds that the Doctrine is already struggling to hold together.
(Pen of Iron: Leunaph's filaments, threaded through every Tharashioun mind, engrave every loss permanently past the physical brain. No surgery reaches it and no suppression removes it. Grief does not fade in a Tharashioun mind, it accumulates. Tharashiouns were already built that way...The Pen of Iron made sure it could never be undone, and no Tharashioun, including Mère Art'ha, has ever known it was there.)
II/VII. FASSARO
700,000+ years after ▏▇▀▍▕▄▋ disappeared into the pre-dimensional state, Mère Art'ha's control over Tehom still sits so far beyond what any other Tharashioun has achieved that the gap has never closed. No one else has been alive long enough to accumulate what she has. The sole exception is Fassaro.
Male Tharashiouns are rare. Across the full span of the species' recorded history, approximately 9,270 males have been born — out of a civilization that has sustained tens of millions of individuals over 720,000 years. Each of those 9,270 carried a unique decoherence filter determined by genetics and cellular architecture, collapsing Tehom into an expression pattern specific to their biology alone. The possibility space for decoherence configurations is functionally boundless, because the filter emerges from the interaction of trillions of cells whose w-axis geometry varies at the individual level down to molecular arrangement. The number of viable configurations exceeds the number of atoms in the observable universe by orders of magnitude that Tharashioun mathematics stopped trying to express in conventional notation millennia ago.
The odds of any one of those 9,270 males producing the exact decoherence filter that ▏▇▀▍▕▄▋ carried...the one configuration out of that boundless space that collapses Tehom past all four axes into the pre-dimensional state — is approximately 1 in 40,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,
000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,
000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
A number with 159 zeros behind it, so far beyond the threshold of statistical possibility that the universe could run its entire lifespan from first light to heat death a trillion times over without producing this outcome even once. No framework in which chance operates without interference generates a result at this scale, and nothing about the number resembles "luck" ...only an impossibility that happened anyway.
Fassaro's biology produced that filter anyway. Null Origin: the ability to strip dimensional context from matter entirely, forcing it to revert to the state that preceded the Big Bang...resurfaced 700,000+ years after consuming its only other wielder, in a body that learned to contain what the original could not. Untaught, because no one alive had ever carried it before him. It is unteachable, because the filter cannot be replicated through training or transferred through instruction. It is written into his cells the way ▏▇▀▍▕▄▋'s was written into his, and the 720,000 years between them did nothing to make the recurrence less impossible.
The difference is what Fassaro did with it. ▏▇▀▍▕▄▋ carried Null Origin in a body too early in Tharashioun evolution to regulate an expression that powerful, and the ability consumed him before he could learn what it truly was. Fassaro channels that same force through years of fully stable biology, paired with the discipline of someone who chose every single day of his life to use the minimum force required. He is what ▏▇▀▍▕▄▋ might have become if the biology had been ready and the pre-dimensional state had not taken him first.
Mère Art'ha has never spoken publicly about what Fassaro's existence means to her.
III. THE HUMAN LIMIT
Following the 2D example in Section I; Imagine a flat, two-dimensional sheet of paper. Now imagine a creature living on that paper; it can move left and right, forward and backward, but it has no concept of "up"...It literally cannot look up nor point up. The word "up" does not exist in its language because no experience has ever required it. If you, a three-dimensional being, reached down and touched the paper, the creature would see a circle appear from nowhere, your fingertip's cross-section is all it can see, and it would have no framework for understanding that the circle is connected to something larger extending in a direction the creature's brain was never built to process.
That is the human situation with the fourth axis, also called the "w-axis".
The human brain evolved to navigate three spatial dimensions because three spatial dimensions were all that survival on Earth ever demanded. The fourth axis is compactified here, curled to the Planck scale, and nothing at the human level interacts with it directly. Natural selection does not build organs for perceiving things that carry no survival relevance, so the neural architecture for processing w-axis input was never developed. Humans cannot visualize the fourth spatial dimension for the same reason the paper creature cannot visualize "up."
The mathematics works, and that is part of what makes the limitation so difficult to accept. Humans can describe four-dimensional geometry with perfect precision using equations, calculate w-axis rotations, project hypercubes onto flat surfaces, model interactions across axes they have never seen. But understanding an equation about the fourth dimension and perceiving the fourth dimension are fundamentally different experiences, take for example reading a description of the color red and seeing the color red are fundamentally different experiences. The mind holding them still cannot see what they describe despite the equations being correct.
Tharashioun multi-pupil eyes see better than human eyes in every measurable way, but the real difference is that they also see more. Each additional pupil tracks spatial information along an axis human optics cannot access. A Tharashioun looking at a wall perceives the wall, what is behind it when prompted, and the volume it occupies along the w-axis, processed together and without effort, just like a human glances at a room and registers height, width, and depth in the same moment. Neither species considers its own vision remarkable. A Tharashioun would find four-dimensional sight as mundane as a human finds depth perception, and the gap between them exists only because one species' mundane includes an entire spatial axis the other was never meant to reach.
"And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language... and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Let us go down, and there confound their language." — Genesis 11:6-7
The confusion that scattered humanity at Babel was a mercy. God fracturing their ability to reach upward before the reaching killed them. Tharashiouns adapted to the fourth axis because they had no choice...Mère Art'ha and ▏▇▀▍▕▄▋ were born on a world saturated with four-dimensional energy that would have killed them if they had not learned to survive it, and the refusal to die was the only thing guiding them through that process. Art'ha spent thousands of years afterward teaching her children what she and ▏▇▀▍▕▄▋ had learned, and those children taught theirs, until the adaptation became embedded in Tharashioun biology across generations. No equivalent process ever occurred on Earth. A human body exposed to raw four-dimensional energy without that foundation, without millennia of accumulated adaptation passed from parent to child, would shred apart at the cellular level...the body has no architecture for containing what it was never forced to learn to receive. The cognitive severing that compactified the w-axis on Earth kept three-dimensional beings alive by locking them out of something their biology had no way of surviving.
Four-dimensional energy would destroy a human body on contact. But weirdly enough, human perception when focused closely enough on something four-dimensional forces the interaction in the opposite direction.
A human cannot see a Tharashioun cell with the naked eye at conversational distance because the cell is too small, and daily interaction is completely safe...no Tharashioun walking among humans has ever been affected by being looked at across a room, a street, or a table. But if a human places their naked eye behind a microscope, a telescope, any magnification device that allows the eye to directly resolve a Tharashioun cell, something happens that the 11th Division has currently documented numerous times and has never been able to explain: The cell flattens. The w-axis extension collapses immediately, as though the act of being perceived by a three-dimensional consciousness forces the cell to resolve into three dimensions. For as long as that human's eye is looking, the cell is no longer a four-dimensional structure. It becomes a human cell, identical in every way, carrying none of the properties that make a Tharashioun what they are.
The Tharashioun body does not tolerate this. The surrounding cells detect an absence where w-axis structure should exist and respond the way any biological system responds to a compromised component: apoptosis, programmed cell death that eliminates the flattened cell before it can affect its neighbors. Cell proliferation follows immediately, generating a replacement with its full four-dimensional coherence intact. The body destroys what has been reduced so it can rebuild what needs to be whole.
(Important to note: This process only triggers when the human eye is observing a cell still attached to a living Tharashioun. A separated sample, removed from the body, has no surrounding tissue to detect the collapse and no system to initiate repair — the cell flattens and stays human-looking.)
Regeneration costs calories, but replacing a single cell costs so little that a system burning 60,000 kilocalories a day would never notice. The problem is sustained observation. As long as the human eye remains behind the lens, every replacement cell flattens the moment it forms, forcing the body to kill it and generate another, which also flattens, which also gets killed. The cycle repeats for as long as the eye is watching, and the caloric cost compounds with every loop. A Tharashioun under prolonged magnified observation burns through energy faster than one in active combat simply from the body cannibalizing itself to keep replacing what the observer's perception keeps collapsing.
The collapse only occurs when a human eye is the final point of observation. A camera pointed at a Tharashioun cell captures the three-dimensional cross-section and nothing happens, because a camera is not a consciousness — digital displays, recordings, and photographs carry no dimensional expectation and trigger nothing. The chain requires a living three-dimensional mind actively resolving visual input into understood information, a brain built for three dimensions forcing what it perceives to conform to three dimensions, and the cell complies because the mind observing it is incapable of expecting anything beyond what three dimensions allow. The moment a non-conscious medium sits between the cell and the eye, the effect disappears entirely.
Yet none of this protects humans from Tharashioun abilities.
The observation collapse works because a human mind passively forces what it sees to conform to three-dimensional limits toward something extremely tiny. Ability expression goes the other direction: When a Tharashioun channels Tehom offensively, four-dimensional physics is being imposed on three-dimensional space with enough violence that the distinction between axes ceases to matter. For instance: A human caught inside Metra Aurora's Fourth Fold Collapse has no opportunity to observe anything, because their body is being shredded across dimensional axes their biology has no structure along, and death arrives before the brain has time to register what happened. Observation is a mind looking at something and the something conforming...A manifested ability is the reverse, Tehom converted and forced into the third dimension against a target. Abilities that operate through the fourth dimension, like Elara's Shrink Dominion or Metra's Fourth Fold Collapse, cannot affect other Tharashiouns because their w-axis density resists the manipulation. (Exceptions like Nasmamea's "Æ:xtermination" bypass resistance by burning massive calories, but the duration is short and strong tharashioun can still break it.) But humans and most species carry no w-axis resistance and density, so they have no way of resisting it. Most Tharashioun-on-Tharashioun combat relies on physical weapons forged from materials native to Thars-65B0 and on abilities that manifest as official three-dimensional phenomena such as Delta's water for example, because both interact with physical structure directly and bypass w-axis resistance entirely.
The 11th Division nonetheless considers human visual consciousness one of the most dangerous and least understood properties in the universe. Some human scientists have collaborated with Tharashiouns to study each other's biology, and Tharashiouns have told them about the observation effect directly. None of them understood why it happens. Humans have no way of weaponizing it as of now, and no framework for explaining it, but the vulnerability is real: a nuke does nothing to a Tharashioun, but a human staring through a microscope long enough could kill one. That fact alone has generated more classified research on Thars-65B0 than any conventional weapons program in Tharashioun history.
IV. WHAT HUMAN PHYSICS COULDN'T SOLVE
If the fourth axis is real, it fills in what human physics has been missing, because the largest unsolved problems in the field all stem from the same gap: instruments that measure three dimensions and cannot account for what exists along the fourth.
IV/I. THE VACUUM CATASTROPHE
(Note: "Vacuum" means empty space, but in physics, even empty space contains energy from tiny quantum fluctuations.)
Empty space is never empty. Energy exists at every point in the vacuum, constant fluctuations at scales too small and too fast for any instrument to catch directly, and those fluctuations add up. Physicists calculated how much total energy the vacuum should contain, and the number they got was enormous. This is the same energy that Tharashioun biology draws from through the fourth axis, the energy that Section V will describe as Tehom. When Fassaro uses Null Origin, even this energy ceases to exist in the affected area, which is why nothing remains afterward.
Predicted vacuum energy density:
ρ_predicted = (1/2) · ∑_fields ∫₀^{k_Pl} [ℏω_k / (2π)³] · 4πk² dk
where: ω_k = c · √(k² + m²c²/ℏ²) - angular frequency for wavenumber k k_Pl = √(c³ / (ℏG)) - Planck momentum cutoff ≈ 1.22 × 10¹⁹ GeV/c m = rest mass of the field
Evaluating the dominant high-energy contribution: ρ_predicted ≈ (k_Pl⁴ · c) / (16π² · ℏ³) ≈ M_Pl⁴ · c³ / ℏ³ ≈ 10⁹⁶ kg/m³
Human physicists then tried to measure how much of this energy actually shows up in the observable universe, and the Planck satellite collaboration published their result in 2015.
Observed vacuum energy density (Planck satellite collaboration, 2015):
ρ_observed = (Ω_Λ · 3H₀²) / (8πG)
= 5.96 × 10⁻²⁷ kg/m³
where: Ω_Λ ≈ 0.685 - dark energy density parameter H₀ ≈ 67.4 km/s/Mpc - Hubble constant
The prediction came out to 10⁹⁶ kg/m³ and the measurement came out to 10⁻²⁷ kg/m³, a gap of approximately 10¹²³ between them, which remains the single largest disagreement between a theoretical prediction and an actual measurement in the entire history of human science. Physicists name it the worst prediction in physics because no one working within three-dimensional frameworks has been able to account for where the "missing energy" is.
The energy never went missing. Human instruments measure along three spatial axes because those are the only axes they can access, so the result only captured the fraction of vacuum energy sitting along those three axes while the rest of it sits along the fourth, in a direction no instrument on Earth can point toward.
Full four-dimensional vacuum energy density:
ρ_total = (1/(2π)⁴) · ∑_fields ∫₀^{k_Pl} ∫₀^{k_w,max} [ℏ · c · √(k₃² + k_w² + m²c²/ℏ²)] / 2
· 4πk₃² · dk_w · dk₃
where: k₃ = three-dimensional wavenumber magnitude k_w = wavenumber component along the fourth axis k_w,max = w-axis momentum cutoff (determined by the full extent W of the fourth dimension)
What three-dimensional instruments actually measure:
ρ_observed = ρ_total · (δ_w / W_total)
where: δ_w ≈ 1.616 × 10⁻³⁵ m - compactified w-axis extent accessible to 3D measurement (on the order of the Planck length) W_total = full w-axis extent of the vacuum δ_w / W_total ≈ 10⁻¹²³
The part of the fourth axis that our tools can detect is so tiny it measures less than one‑trillion‑trillion‑trillion of the total energy. The catastrophe was not a result of physics going wrong, the location of the energy was just "invisible" to our instruments.
IV/II. DARK MATTER
Most of the visible mass in a galaxy, the stars, gas and dust that telescopes can detect, is concentrated toward the middle of the galaxy. Stars orbiting close to that concentration move fast because they have a lot of mass pulling on them. Stars orbiting farther out, near the edges, should move slower because there is less visible mass out there to hold them in. But when astronomers actually measured their speeds, the outer stars were moving just as fast as the inner ones. “Something” out there that telescopes cannot see is pulling on them hard enough to keep them at those speeds.
Expected vs. observed orbital velocity:
v_expected® = √(G · M_vis® / r)
— predicts declining velocity at large r as visible mass density drops
v_observed® ≈ v_flat for r > r_optical
where: r_optical = radius beyond which luminous matter drops off v_flat ≈ 200–300 km/s (varies by galaxy, remains roughly constant)
The flat velocity curve means there is extra mass out there that nobody can see, pulling on the stars and keeping them moving fast. The total gravitational pull required to explain the observed speeds demands far more mass than what is visible:
v_observed® = √(G · [M_vis® + M_dark®] / r)
This invisible mass is not limited to individual galaxies. Groups of galaxies show the same problem, and light visibly bends around regions of space where no visible matter exists, which confirms something massive is there even if no telescope can see it. Roughly 27% of everything in the universe is made of this invisible mass, about 5% is visible matter (every star, planet, and cloud of gas in the observable universe), and the remaining 68% is the dark energy covered later in this section.
In four-dimensional space, this invisible mass is just ordinary matter sitting along the fourth axis. Gravity can pull across all spatial dimensions, but light can only travel through three of them, so anything sitting along the w-axis is invisible to every telescope, radio dish, and X-ray detector humans have ever built while still pulling gravitationally on everything around it.
Gravitational contribution from w-axis mass:
g⃗_observed(r⃗) = -G ∫∫ [ρ(r⃗’, w) · (r⃗ - r⃗’)] / [(|r⃗ - r⃗’|² + w²)^(5/2)]
· 2π|r⃗ - r⃗’|² d³r⃗’ dw
where: ρ(r⃗’, w) = four-dimensional mass density w = coordinate along the fourth axis |r⃗₄|² = |r⃗₃|² + w² — four-dimensional distance metric
Effective dark matter density as seen from 3D:
ρ_dark,eff(r⃗) = ∫_{-W/2}^{W/2} ρ(r⃗, w) · [1 / (1 + w²/|r⃗|²)^(5/2)] dw
— the w-axis integral projects perpendicular mass into an apparent 3D density that produces identical acceleration signatures to conventional dark matter halos
Gravity from visible matter and gravity from w-axis matter produce identical effects on everything they pull on, so no instrument can tell which is which. Astronomers have been measuring gravity arriving from a direction their tools cannot isolate and calling the source "dark matter" for decades, when the mass was never dark to begin with, just sitting in a direction no instrument on Earth can point toward.
IV/III. DARK ENERGY
In 1998, astronomers measuring the distances to a specific type of exploding star (Type Ia supernovae) discovered that the universe’s expansion is speeding up. "Something" is pushing everything apart faster and faster, and whatever it is accounts for approximately 68% of all the energy in the universe. Physicists call it "dark energy" because they can measure its effects but cannot see it or explain where it comes from.
The standard equations describing how the universe expands include a term called the cosmological constant (Λ) that represents this accelerating force.
Friedmann equation with cosmological constant:
H² = (8πG/3) · (ρ_matter + ρ_radiation + ρ_Λ) - kc²/a²
where: H = expansion rate of the universe a = scale factor (how much the universe has stretched) k = curvature of space ρ_Λ = Λc² / (8πG) — energy density associated with Λ
Observed value: Λ ≈ 1.11 × 10⁻⁵² m⁻²
The observed value of Λ is extraordinarily small. Based on what physicists expected from their calculations, it should be roughly 10¹²⁰ times larger. Nobody working within three dimensions has been able to explain why it takes this particular value instead of the much larger one the math predicts.
In four-dimensional space, the explanation is simple: The fourth axis contains vacuum energy, and that energy pushes on three-dimensional space from a direction humans and their instruments cannot see or measure. The value of Λ only looks impossibly small because human instruments are picking up a fraction of the total pressure, the fraction that leaks through three axes out of four.
Four-dimensional dark energy derivation:
ρ_Λ = ρ_w · (L_Pl / W_total) · (∂V_w / ∂V₃)
P_DE = -ρ_w · c² · (∂V_w / ∂V₃)
where: ρ_w = vacuum energy density along the fourth axis W_total = full w-axis extent L_Pl = Planck length ≈ 1.616 × 10⁻³⁵ m V_w = w-axis vacuum volume V₃ = three-dimensional spatial volume
Effective equation of state:
w_eff = P_DE / (ρ_Λ · c²)
= -(W_total / L_Pl) · (∂V_w / ∂V₃)
The negative value is what pushes the expansion of the universe to accelerate. The number only looks impossibly precise from inside three dimensions because the observer is seeing a fraction of the full spatial picture and has no way of knowing what the rest looks like.
IV/IV. THE HIERARCHY PROBLEM
Physics has four fundamental forces. Electromagnetism is what makes magnets work, makes light exist, and holds atoms together. The strong and weak nuclear forces (nothing to do with nuclear weapons, the word “nuclear” here refers to the nucleus of an atom) operate inside the core of atoms, holding the smallest particles together. Gravity is what keeps planets in orbit and people on the ground. The first three are strong. Gravity is so much weaker than the other three that the gap has no known explanation, and physicists call this question "The hierarchy problem". The electromagnetic force between two protons is roughly 10³⁶ times stronger than the gravitational force between the same two protons at the same distance. To put things into perspective: A small magnet can lift a metal paperclip off a table...The entire Earth is pulling that paperclip down with gravity, yet the magnet wins. That is how weak gravity is compared to electromagnetism.
Force comparison at proton separation (~10⁻¹⁵ m):
Electromagnetic force:
F_EM = (1 / 4πε₀) · (e² / r²)
≈ 8.2 × 10⁻⁸ N
Gravitational force: F_G = G · m_p² / r² ≈ 1.87 × 10⁻⁴⁴ N
Ratio: F_EM / F_G ≈ 4.4 × 10³⁶
where: e = elementary charge ≈ 1.602 × 10⁻¹⁹ C m_p = proton mass ≈ 1.673 × 10⁻²⁷ kg ε₀ = vacuum permittivity ≈ 8.854 × 10⁻¹² F/m G = gravitational constant ≈ 6.674 × 10⁻¹¹ N·m²/kg² r = proton separation ≈ 10⁻¹⁵ m
In 1998, three physicists (Arkani-Hamed, Dimopoulos, and Dvali) proposed an answer: gravity is not actually weak, it just looks weak because it leaks into extra dimensions that the other three forces don't reach. From their framework, electromagnetism and the nuclear forces are confined to three-dimensional space while gravity spreads across every spatial dimension that exists, growing weaker the more volume it spreads across, the same way water pressure drops when you widen the pipe it flows through. It was the closest three-dimensional science had come to describing something it had no instruments to confirm.
Dimensional dilution of gravitational coupling:
G₃ = G₄ / W
where: G₃ = gravitational constant as measured in 3D G₄ = fundamental four-dimensional gravitational constant W = extent of the fourth spatial dimension
The “true” gravitational force between two masses in 4D: F_G,true = G₄ · m₁ · m₂ / r²
The measured gravitational force in 3D: F_G,measured = (G₄ / W) · m₁ · m₂ / r² = G₃ · m₁ · m₂ / r² — diluted by factor W because the flux spreads into a dimension the 3D observer cannot access
On Earth, the fourth axis is compressed to a scale so small that nothing interacts with it, but gravity still leaks into it and spreads thin, which is why it feels so weak here. On Thars-65B0, the fourth axis is wide open, and everything on the planet, the ground, the atmosphere, the organisms, exists along that axis. That means everything on Thars-65B0 feels gravity at much closer to its full undiluted strength, which is why the planet’s surface gravity is 38.4 times Earth’s and strong enough to crush most species on contact.
IV/V. QUANTUM SUPERPOSITION
In four-dimensional space, quantum superposition has a geometric explanation. Again: Picture a flat 2D surface, like a sheet of paper, and a creature that lives on it. The creature can move left, right, forward, and backward, but it has no concept of "up" or "down" because those directions do not exist in its flat world. Now imagine pushing a cylinder through that surface from above, like pushing a pencil through a sheet of paper. If the cylinder goes through vertically, perpendicular to the surface, the creature sees a circle appear where the cylinder passes through, because a vertical slice through a cylinder produces a circle. If you tilt the cylinder and push it through at an angle, the creature sees an elongated shape instead, because an angled slice through a cylinder produces a different cross-section. Both shapes appeared at the same spot on the surface, and the creature has no way of knowing they came from the same object, because the full shape of that object extends above and below the surface in a direction the creature’s flat world does not include. From the creature’s perspective, two contradictory shapes showed up in the same place. From the perspective of anyone who can see in three dimensions, there was only ever one object, and the two shapes were just two different angles of slicing through it.
Quantum superposition is the same situation, one dimension up. When physicists say a particle is "in superposition," they mean their instruments are detecting what appears to be the same particle in multiple contradictory states at the same location, the same way the flat creature detected two different shapes at the same spot. The particle is a four-dimensional object, and the contradictory states are different three-dimensional slices of it. The instrument can only take one slice at a time, and which slice it gets depends on where along the fourth axis the measurement lands, something the experimenter cannot control or even observe.
What physicists call "the wavefunction collapsing" during measurement, is the moment the instrument commits to one particular slice. The four-dimensional object does not change or break when this happens. The instrument simply locks onto one cross-section out of many possible ones, and that cross-section becomes the result. Run the same experiment again on an identical particle and the instrument might land on a different slice, producing a different result, which is why quantum experiments give statistical distributions instead of identical answers every time.
Full quantum state in four-dimensional space:
|ψ⟩ = ∫∫∫∫ α(x, y, z, w) · |x, y, z, w⟩ dx dy dz dw
Normalization: ∫∫∫∫ |α(x, y, z, w)|² dx dy dz dw = 1
where: α(x, y, z, w) = four-dimensional amplitude function
Three-dimensional measurement (projection onto fixed w₀):
|ψ_obs⟩ = (1/N) · ∫∫∫ α(x, y, z, w₀) · |x, y, z⟩ dx dy dz
where: w₀ = fixed w-coordinate determined by the observer’s dimensional position N = √(∫∫∫ |α(x, y, z, w₀)|² dx dy dz) — scaling factor ensuring the projected state remains mathematically valid
Probability distribution of measurement outcomes:
P(x, y, z) = |α(x, y, z, w₀)|² / ∫∫∫ |α(x’, y’, z’, w₀)|² dx’ dy’ dz’
— the “probabilities” of quantum mechanics correspond to the set of possible three-dimensional cross-sections of the four-dimensional state
Tharashioun multi-pupil eyes see the full four-dimensional object directly, so they do not experience superposition at all. A Tharashioun looking at what a human physicist would call a particle in superposition just sees one object, in one place, with one shape. The same way a three-dimensional observer looking at a cylinder sees a cylinder, and never needs to wonder whether it is really a circle or a rectangle.
V. TEHOM — THE DEEP
Every cell in a Tharashioun body extends into the fourth spatial axis, and Tehom, the energy drawn from the four-dimensional vacuum reservoir described in Section IV, saturates all of them continuously. The draw is automatic and runs regardless of what the organism is doing or whether it is conscious. A Tharashioun has about as much control over it as a human has over their own metabolism.
Asking a Tharashioun how they use Tehom is like asking a human how they use their metabolism; The question doesn't make sense because both are built into how the body functions at every level.
In three-dimensional space, the fundamental forces (gravity, electromagnetism, the forces holding atomic nuclei together) operate separately from each other under different rules. Along the fourth axis, those forces have not separated yet. The energy there is raw and undifferentiated, and what it becomes when it passes through a Tharashioun body depends entirely on that body's biological architecture. Think of white light passing through a prism: the light already contains every color, and the prism determines which ones come out the other side. Tehom works the same way, which is why Lyra produces fire and Delta produces water from the same source energy. The input is identical. The body it passes through determines the output.
V/I. WHAT TEHOM DOES
Tehom condenses biological matter along the w-axis, compressing mass into densities far beyond what conventional tissue can achieve. Tharashioun bone forms a compound called Meta-alloy, denser than titanium. Muscle fibers pack contractile proteins per cubic centimeter at levels that would collapse without the structural support Tehom provides. As Section I explained, the additional mass that makes a human-sized Tharashioun weigh hundreds of kilograms exists along the w-axis, it is invisible to three-dimensional instruments but fully present in the gravitational field.
The average body of a non-Tharashioun species stores 120,000 to 150,000 calories of chemical energy, while a Tharashioun body stores between 8.5 and 29.2 million depending on individual mass, roughly sixty to two hundred times greater caloric density.
Tehom also sustains Tharashiouns across millennia. The biological processes that kill other species over time (telomere shortening, oxidative damage, accumulated errors in DNA replication) does not occur in Tharashioun biology. A Tharashioun at 4,000 years old is physically identical to one at 1,000, because once the Second Growth Spurt completes, the body stops changing entirely. Before that milestone, younger Tharashiouns are still growing, with females in particular gaining significant height and mass during the Bloom.
Tharashiouns are "biologically" immortal but psychologically finite. Their bodies do not age past the Second Growth Spurt and will keep functioning as long as caloric intake holds, but they do die when they are killed, and the mind has limits the body does not. Most Tharashiouns live between 50,000 and 90,000 years before the accumulated grief buried under the Doctrine becomes too heavy to carry and psychological collapse leads them to suicide. Certain individuals exceed this range, with Mère Art'ha currently standing at 720,089 years.
V/II. WHY IT CANNOT TURN OFF
No quantum field in the universe can reach exactly zero energy. The Heisenberg uncertainty principle forbids knowing both the exact position and exact momentum of a particle at the same time, and a system at truly zero energy would require every particle in it to be perfectly still, which would mean knowing both with infinite precision. Since the principle does not allow that, even the emptiest possible vacuum retains residual energy, fluctuations that cannot be removed because removing them would violate the most fundamental constraint in quantum mechanics:
ΔE · Δt ≥ ℏ/2
This applies to Tharashioun cells, they always draw energy from the four‑dimensional vacuum. Because of the uncertainty principle, that draw can never drop to zero while the cell is alive...Even death doesn't fully stop it. When Elara killed Ciara, her cells still drew some energy; That residual Tehom is what lets Elara reshape them into the Red Eye...a weapon that simply works because the biology never fully reached zero.
The draw however does fluctuate depending on what the body is doing. Sleep and rest bring it close to the minimum because fewer systems are placing demand on the vacuum. Combat pushes it toward the maximum because every cell is channeling energy at peak output. Even at the minimum though, during deep sleep with no active systems running, the draw remains above zero and continues consuming calories. This is what makes Tharashioun starvation dangerous: the body cannot lower the floor any further than it already sits, and if caloric intake drops below that floor, the body starts burning through its own tissue to cover the difference.
V/III. WHY IT COSTS CALORIES (METRA AURORA USED AS EXAMPLE)
The Tharashioun body pulls raw energy from the vacuum rather than producing it. Channeling that energy through biological tissue and keeping trillions of cells stable along the fourth axis at the same time requires fuel. The reservoir is effectively limitless, but the body's ability to handle what it draws from that reservoir is not.
A resting adult Tharashioun more or less burns between 60,000 and 100,000 kilocalories per day. In combat, that figure can exceeds 3 million kcal/day. Biology has a law called Kleiber's law that predicts caloric burn from body mass:
B = 70M^(3/4)
The 3/4 exponent exists because larger organisms are more metabolically efficient per unit of mass than smaller ones. Caloric need grows slower than body mass as size increases, so doubling mass never doubles the caloric requirement. At 4,002 kg, Kleiber's law predicts Metra should be efficient enough to run on 35,200 kcal/day. Her actual baseline of 132,500 is nearly four times that because the formula has no term for the w-axis metabolic load sitting on top of everything else. Fassaro's baseline is 197,000 kcal/day, and Elara's ranges between 120,000 and 180,000.
The gap comes from the fourth axis. Kleiber's law was built for three-dimensional organisms, and Tharashioun bodies do work along an entire additional spatial dimension:
B_Thar = 70M^(3/4) · Σ(w) · η_w
Σ(w) represents metabolic surface area along the w-axis, and η_w represents how efficiently the body converts four-dimensional vacuum energy into biological work. The law underestimates Tharashioun metabolism by exactly the proportion of the w-axis contribution it cannot see.
This extra metabolic burden also explains why Tharashioun movement cannot be judged by ordinary kinetic calculations alone. A surface estimate of Metra moving at Mach 800+ makes the numbers look impossible. Accelerating 4,002 kg to that speed through conventional three-dimensional mechanics would require roughly 36 billion kcal per burst, more than 12,000 times her entire daily caloric combat budget.
The contradiction disappears once the mechanism is understood: Metra doesn't accelerate her full mass through three-dimensional space at Mach 800+. She propagates through the w-axis, where the distance between two points shrinks to almost nothing, which is why drag and friction that would incinerate any conventional object at that speed do not apply to her during transit. Her mass re-entering three-dimensional space is what produces the sonic booms and kinetic shockwaves. The 3 million kcal/day combat budget covers coherence maintenance, ability output, and cellular stability. The movement itself costs almost nothing because she is not forcing her mass through the three axes where those costs apply. This applies for all Tharashiouns and the efficiency varies depending on genetics, age, post-Bloom status, and training.
This is distinct from Metra's phase-shifting, where she deliberately pulls more of her cellular architecture into the w-axis, reducing her three-dimensional presence until she becomes intangible or passes through matter entirely. Moving at high hypersonic speeds is a partial version of this, enough to bypass drag but not enough to lose physical presence in three-dimensional space. The difference between the two states is also why she could not save a human shrunken by Elara before a raindrop reached them. At any speed that makes her fast enough to intervene, her re-entry into three-dimensional space carries enough force to kill something that fragile before she can do anything useful. She has among the finest w-axis control of any living Tharashioun, enough to force its brute state into reality across an entire radius. Making herself totally harmless is the one thing that control has never been able to achieve, and the one thing she cares most about.
Faster-than-light transit is not an extension of this process. The harder a state is for three-dimensional reality to accommodate, the more energy it costs a living body to remain continuous, conscious, and intact through it. Routing motion through the w-axis lowers the cost of extreme speed but does not remove the biological ceiling on what a living organism can survive. To attempt FTL would require reducing her three-dimensional presence to almost zero while keeping her consciousness fully integrated across the transition. A failed attempt would not simply mean stopping short of light speed. Metra believes it would mean her body failing to reassemble correctly after the transit, incomplete cellular reassembly, irreversible neural damage, or death. She has no proof any biological organism has survived that threshold, and that uncertainty alone is enough for her to never attempt it. Even if the transit itself succeeded, she does not want to risk innocent lives, strange as that sounds coming from a species that has conquered tens of thousands of worlds. She won't add faster-than-light collateral damage to that list.
...
If caloric intake stops, the energy draw from the vacuum continues because the cells cannot lower it below the floor the "Heisenberg's uncertainty principle" sets. The body begins burning through its own muscle tissue, fat reserves, and organ lining to make up the difference between what the vacuum demands and what the organism can no longer provide. Tharashioun starvation is exponentially faster and more violent than in any other species because the caloric demand from the fourth axis never decreases, even as the body runs out of fuel to meet it. This is why soldiers on extended campaigns fed on conquered populations when rations ran out, and why the 5th Division, the Crimson Harvest, is a critical Division in the Tharashioun military structure. A human force cut off from supply weakens over weeks, sometimes months, giving commanders time to adapt. A Tharashioun army without food begins dying within days, and the soldiers who survive longest are the ones who find something else to eat.
VI. THE EXCHANGE
The fourth axis feeds three-dimensional space. Three-dimensional space feeds back into it.
Every force that expresses itself in three dimensions bleeds outward across every spatial dimension simultaneously, including the fourth. Gravity does not stay confined to where it originated. Electromagnetic force does not stay confined. Nothing that operates across space stays sealed to only three axes of it. The fourth axis receives what three-dimensional physics produces the same way it produces what three-dimensional physics receives. The relationship runs in both directions and has always run in both directions.
The fourth axis contains two distinct things: The first is potential that has not yet resolved into anything specific, and this is what Tharashioun biology draws from. A decoherence filter collapses it into a specific expression; fire, water, gravitational distortion, whatever the biology dictates. The second is forces that originated in three-dimensional space, already resolved into something specific before they ever reached the fourth axis. These cannot be drawn through a filter because they have nothing left to collapse. They arrive as what they already are and hit w-axis biology with their full force intact.
The difference is not where something exists in the fourth axis, It is where it came from and whether it has already resolved into a specific expression before arriving there.
"And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters." — Genesis 1:6-7
The firmament is the boundary between dimensions. The waters above and the waters below are still one reality, divided only by a direction not every mind can perceive or cross.
VII. HOW THE "MAGIC" WORKS
Tehom is the energy drawn from the fourth-axis reservoir. This section describes how it flows through a Tharashioun body, how it converts into abilities, how it reaches targets, and what happens when it meets resistance.
VII/I. COHERENCE: HOW CELLS COORDINATE
A Tharashioun using an ability is not consciously directing energy through each of their trillions of cells one at a time. The cells act in unison, instantaneously, because of how quantum entanglement behaves through the fourth axis.
Quantum entanglement links particles so that measuring one instantly determines the state of the other regardless of distance. Einstein called it "spooky action at a distance" because no signal travels between them through three-dimensional space. What he couldn't account for is that entangled particles are not actually separated in four-dimensional space. Two particles meters apart along x, y, and z may be adjacent along w. The action isn't spooky, it's just crossing a distance that three-dimensional instruments cannot measure.
Every Tharashioun cell extends into the fourth axis, and their w-axis surfaces overlap into a continuous entangled network. When Lyra generates fire, every cell in her body shifts into the energy-channeling state simultaneously because along the fourth axis they were never separate structures to begin with. A structure does not send signals to itself.
|Ψ_body⟩ = ∏ᵢ |φᵢ(x,y,z,w̷̢)⟩ → |Ψ_coherent⟩ via Σ̶(w̷̢)-coupling
This is also why caloric cost scales so steeply with ability use. In three-dimensional physics, maintaining quantum coherence across a body-sized system is effectively impossible because environmental interaction collapses quantum states into classical behavior, which is why quantum effects in terrestrial biology stay confined to molecular scales. Tharashioun cells maintain coherence at macro scale because their w-axis extension isolates them from the three-dimensional thermal environment that would otherwise destroy it, and that isolation has a cost. The 3 million kcal/day a Tharashioun burns in combat covers coherence maintenance, ability output, and cellular stability simultaneously. Movement barely impact that figure because it propagates through the w-axis, where the physics that make speed expensive do not apply.
VII/II. EXPRESSION: WHY THARASHIOUN ABILITIES DIFFER
As we stated before: Raw Tehom is identical in every Tharashioun. What differs is the "filter"; what it becomes when channeled through an individual body, and that difference is determined entirely by genetics.
Decoherence is the process by which a quantum system, when it interacts with its surroundings, loses its super‑position and settles into a single, classical state. In ordinary physics this is why quantum effects disappear at macroscopic scales: the environment constantly "measures" the system and forces a definite outcome. The same process operates on Tehom as it flows through a Tharashioun body. Each Tharashioun has a unique genetic configuration, a unique neural wiring pattern, and a unique cellular microstructure, and when Tehom flows through these structures they collapse it from its raw superposed state into one specific expression. Lyra's biology decoheres it into fire. Delta's into water. Elara's into mass-state alteration. Luna's into gravitational manipulation, dark matter control, void tethering, and the compression of space itself. The energy is identical at the source, the body it passes through determines what comes out.
The ability a Tharashioun produces cannot be taught or transferred because it is all genetics. Training only reduces the energy lost to imprecise channeling. It refines what the biology already dictates, it does not alter it. Every calorie burned during ability use sustains the coherence network that makes the filtering possible, and when caloric intake cannot meet that demand, the filter fails and the energy stops converting.
VII/III. PROPAGATION: HOW ABILITIES REACH TARGETS (LYRA USED AS EXAMPLE)
When Lyra sets something on fire from across a battlefield, she has two options. She can propagate the fire through the fourth axis directly to the target, bypassing distance and physical barriers entirely, or release it into three-dimensional space as a projectile and let it travel normally. The first option costs roughly 4 to 6 times more calories because her filter has to maintain the conversion continuously at the target's location, sustaining an active expression beyond where her coherence network ends. The second option converts Tehom into fire once at her location and the fire sustains itself from there. Metra moving at Mach 800+ does not carry this cost because she is relocating her coherence network itself through the w-axis, not projecting an expression past its boundary.
Through the fourth axis, the geometry changes: Two points separated by meters of solid matter in three-dimensional space may have no separation at all along w, which means a Tharashioun ability can exit at a target's location without crossing anything that stands between them.
T(r⃗) = e^(-2κ̶ · d_w̶(r⃗_source, r⃗_target))
T is the probability of the ability arriving at the target. The closer two points are along w, the higher that probability. Any species with no w-axis extension sits at zero distance along w from the user regardless of three-dimensional distance, so the ability always arrives at full strength. The formula only becomes relevant against another Tharashioun, whose w-axis presence creates actual distance along w, and even then the resistance section below will covers what happens at that point.
VII/IV. RESISTANCE: WHY THARASHIOUN VS. THARASHIOUN IS DIFFERENT
Against any three-dimensional species, Tehom-based abilities have no counter. These species have no biological presence along the w-axis, so an ability arriving from that direction finds nothing to resist it.
The resistance any target can offer is proportional to its w-axis mass distribution:
R = ∫₀^W ρ(w) dw
(Resistance Cap: The threshold at which the w-axis density of a target becomes too great for an incoming ability to push through. The axis itself stops it, no conscious effort from the target required. A species with no w-axis extension has a resistance cap of zero. A Tharashioun's resistance cap is E̴͈͑͌X̵̥̋T̸͖͒͑Ȓ̴̥̭͖͐͝E̸͔̭̋͝M̶̜̀͜E̸̬͊͛L̸̟̖͉̾́́Y̴̹͐͌̏ strong since birth, but it nonetheless will stay determined by their age, mass, and post-Bloom status.)
For the sake of repetition: Elara can reduce a human to 3 centimeters without effort because there is nothing along w to stop it. Try the same on a Tharashioun and nothing will happen, their Tehom already occupying the same space the ability needs to move through. The hypothetical Tharashioun target won't need to react or defend.
This is true for every ability that works directly through the w-axis:
Luna can hold a black hole in her hand that would tear a planet apart, and a Tharashioun standing next to it would feel the pull but their resistance cap absorbs it. Luna compresses gravitational potential drawn directly from the fourth axis through her filter, the black hole forms inside the w-axis and never touches three-dimensional physics, so the resistance cap applies to it like any other w-axis ability. A species with no w-axis presence receives its full force similar to a natural black hole, with nothing to counter it.
(Note: A natural black hole forms differently. Mass in three-dimensional space compresses past a critical density, and the gravitational pull that results bleeds across every dimension simultaneously, including the w-axis, because gravity never stays confined to three dimensions. A Tharashioun caught in one isn't facing a w-axis ability with a resistance cap. They are facing physical force pulling on their three-dimensional tissue and their w-axis mass at once, and they survive only as long as their caloric reserves regenerates the stretched body and hold against a pull that has no ceiling of its own.)Metra's Fourth Fold Collapse forces the raw state of the fourth dimension into reality across its entire radius, shredding everything within it, yet another Tharashioun standing inside it walks out unaffected because their body is built to exist in that state. Lyra's fire works on another Tharashioun only when she releases it into three-dimensional space where it burns physically, because kept in the fourth axis it meets the resistance cap. Delta's water follows the same logic.
Nasmamea's Æ:xtermination is the only known exception. It pushes through another Tharashioun's resistance cap, but the caloric cost is so severe it cannot be sustained for long, and a strong enough Tharashioun can break it before it does real damage.
Tharashiouns do not fight each other outside of training, and even in training between one another, they default to weapons rather than abilities, since most abilities that directly operate through the w-axis cancel out against another Tharashioun's resistance cap. Tharashioun weapons range from large rifles and blades to singular constructs like Metra's Zh'ae-L'Khorr, a whip-blade capable of molecular bifurcation across dimensional strata. All of them are forged from materials native to Thars-65B0 or from the bodies of the surface creatures they kill. And because the fourth axis was never compactified on Thars, everything that formed or evolved there carries w-axis presence, including inanimate matter. These weapons travel through three-dimensional space as physical objects at forces far beyond anything human engineering has produced, but what makes them effective against Tharashiouns specifically is the w-axis presence in the material itself — it makes full contact with both the three-dimensional and four-dimensional structure of a Tharashioun body, bypassing the resistance cap entirely because the weapon is not arriving through the fourth axis as energy. It is arriving through three-dimensional space as matter that also exists along the fourth. No weapon forged outside of Thars-65B0 can do this, with very few exceptions across the known universe.
Phase-shifting is the obvious counter, becoming intangible long enough to let the weapon pass through. Most Tharashiouns cannot do this because phase-shifting is tied to specific biology and is not a trait the species shares broadly. Metra can, and a small number of others, but precise enough control to phase-shift specific parts of the body without affecting everything around them remains the hardest thing their w-axis control has never fully achieved.
Zena has not yet discovered what her decoherence filter produces. Whatever her biology holds has not surfaced yet.
ABILITY INTERACTION — TL;DR
Abilities manifested INTO three-dimensional space → work on everyone, including Tharashiouns. Like Delta's water, Lyra's fire released as a projectile, or any ability that exits the w-axis and becomes a physical phenomenon in 3D space. Once it's in three dimensions it interacts with physical structure directly, the resistance cap does not apply.
Abilities channeled THROUGH the w-axis → fail against other Tharashiouns. These operate through the fourth axis and hit the resistance cap when the target is also a Tharashioun, their w-axis density already occupying the space the ability needs to move through.
Abilities that EXCEED the resistance cap through raw force → work but drain catastrophically. Nasmamea's Æ:xtermination pushes through another Tharashioun's resistance cap but the caloric cost is unsurvivable at length, and a strong enough Tharashioun can break it before it does real damage.
Abilities that operate BEYOND the w-axis entirely → Null Origin. The resistance cap does not exist for this. The w-axis is still a dimension with its own rules. Null Origin pulls from an angle that cannot be perceived even from within the w-axis, pure nothingness that predates dimensional structure entirely. Whatever it touches leaves a void that will never heal.
"There were giants in the earth in those days." Beings whose physical presence in three-dimensional space was a fraction of what they actually were. — Nephilim. Genesis 6:4
VII/V. REGENERATION: WHY THEY CANNOT BE KILLED EASILY
Given Tehom flows through every Tharashioun cell continuously, every cell is correlated with every other through the coherence network, and paired with an extreme and inhumanly durable resistance. When tissue is damaged or destroyed in three-dimensional space, the surrounding cells detect the absence immediately because a gap in a continuous entangled structure registers across the entire network at once, and repair begins everywhere affected simultaneously.
What makes this possible is that physical damage in three dimensions does not erase the w-axis geometry of the body. The four-dimensional blueprint of every cell remains intact even when the three-dimensional tissue it corresponds to is gone, and the body rebuilds from that blueprint using Tehom as the fuel and the undamaged w-axis structure as the template — but this "regeneration" is one of the most calorically expensive things a Tharashioun body does, because what's being rebuilt isn't just tissue, it's the four-dimensional structure that holds Tehom in the first place, and that reconstruction cost scales directly with how much damage there is. A shallow wound is manageable, but a catastrophic one demands so many calories on top of everything the body is already burning just to function that even a half-full caloric reserve can be overwhelmed, which is also why starvation is a viable way to kill a Tharashioun.
The clearest example of this is the Tharashioun Ciara, whose cells kept drawing from the vacuum after Elara killed her from behind during a campaign they were both on, her caloric reserves already exhausted from the mission, leaving her with nothing to regenerate from. The report that might have saved Ciara came too late, delayed by planetary interference in the implant communication network, and by the time it arrived Elara had already made her decision about what to do with what remained.
Hidden Note: Elara merged Ciara's residual Tehom into the "Red Eye", a mechanoid prototype seized during that same invasion. The species they invaded had gotten far enough in understanding the w-axis and Tehom to engineer a mechanoid capable of channeling them in a constant forced state — closer than anything else in the known universe to holding and controlling Tehom externally — but they had no energy source to run on. Ciara's residual Tehom was that source, and the invasion came before they could find one themselves.
VIII. THE STATE BEFORE CREATION
The fourth dimension holds everything the third dimension contains, undifferentiated and unresolved, but even the fourth axis operates within dimensional structure. It has geometry, rules, and energy flows through it along paths that can be calculated. Physics still applies, even if the physics is larger than what three-dimensional instruments can observe.
There is a state that precedes even this:
Before the Big Bang, before dimensional structure was imposed on reality, what existed was not "nothing." What preceded creation was a state where containers, structure, and the framework that makes location, distance, or emptiness meaningful all exist, crushed into the same indistinguishable mass as everything else, every concept occupying the same space as every other with no separation between any of them. The nothingness the mind imagines when it tries to picture what came before the universe is only the surface of everything that ever was, is, or will be.
Everything that will ever exist was already there before the Big Bang. Every action ever taken or yet to be taken, every version of "god" we imagine, conscious and unconscious, every story written and every story that never found words, every law governing any universe including universes that never came to be, all of it compressed into a single state so dense that nothing could be told apart from anything else, because distance itself was part of that same mass, not yet released into something that could actually separate things. The Big Bang released it, and in releasing it released consciousness itself, because a mind requires separation to exist, a self requires a boundary between itself and everything else, and before the Big Bang every boundary was still entangled with everything it would have separated.
Nothing a Human, Tharashioun or sentient species' mind generates can fully reach back into what that state was. The concept of "why" itself was already there in the everything layer, which is why every mind that has ever lived reaches for it, why music produces emotion that no arrangement of sound waves should be able to produce, why déjà vu exists at all, the mind briefly recognizing something it already encountered in the everything layer before the Big Bang gave it a timeline to exist inside of. Every meaning, every reason, every rule any mind ever reached for was already present in the everything layer. Heaven and hell were there. The concept of a creator was there. Every metaphysical framework any civilization ever built to explain its own existence was already present alongside the civilization that would build it, and what any mind catches when it reaches far enough was never something it created, it was something it already was.
Every contradiction was simultaneously true in that state, a thing and its opposite the same thing, every concept bleeding into every other with nothing to stop it because stopping requires rules and rules require a framework and the framework did not exist yet. Nothingness was so prevalent as a contradiction within everything that it became the surface layer hiding all of it, which is why the mind reaches for nothing when it tries to picture what came before the universe, and finds everything underneath.
When soldier 28's heart showed Elara her greatest fear being "Nothing", it was showing her "Everything," and inside that everything was the loss of Delta, the loss of the human she would grow to love, the loss of the very few things that will start to matter to her. The heart found the wound and showed her what lived at the bottom of it. She stepped back, letting Nasmamea take it, acting like she doesn't care anymore.

(mind, raw) (reality, raw)Both the mind and reality existed in the everything layer, two points in the same indistinguishable mass, neither one more real than the other, neither one capable of reaching its final state alone. A1 is consciousness in its raw form, entangled with everything else in that state. A2 is reality in its raw form, entangled with everything else in that same state. The Big Bang gave them the distance required to be distinct from each other, and that distance is what made the crossing possible.
The mind completes the reality it observes. A2 without A1 never reaches Z, a universe with no consciousness to witness it exists only in the same way everything existed before the Big Bang, being present but unexpressed, with no crosspoint to activate it. A1 without A2 has nothing to process and nothing to produce. Z is what happens when both reach the crosspoint simultaneously, experienced reality, thought, the universe as something that is actually witnessed and known, and a conscious mind is the mechanism in existence capable of pulling something from the everything layer into being actively experienced rather than merely present.
If every mind dies, A2 returns to the everything layer where it is raw and unwitnessed, to what it was before the crossing was possible for us to "think." Z collapses because the crosspoint that made it experienced is gone, and a reality that cannot be witnessed or thought about is indistinguishable from the state that preceded the Big Bang itself. The everything layer contains every thought that any mind ever generated because A1 and A2 were always going to cross, the crossing was already there alongside everything else, and every Z point every mind ever produced was already present in the everything layer waiting for the crosspoint that would bring it into expression.
VIII/II. THE OUROBOROS CYCLE
The Big Bang was a single event that happens continuously. Every thought any mind has ever generated, every action ever taken, every death, every grief, every moment of consciousness across every species on every world feeds back into the everything layer, because everything that exists is part of the everything layer, and the universe generating thoughts and deaths and grief and love is the everything layer doing what it has always done.
The pressure that produced the Big Bang is still building, and when the last mind dies and Z collapses for the final time, everything that was ever thought, experienced, witnessed, loved, destroyed, grieved, and forgotten across the entire lifespan of this universe returns to the everything layer, which explodes into a universe that can contain it. Maybe Tharashiouns again, faced with a different bargain, a core that doesn't demand death to keep beating, a world that doesn't cost everything to save, loved by someone who gets to stay. Maybe something no mind in this universe ever reached far enough to imagine. The reader reading this right now, through a screen, through a document, through whatever strange chain of events led them here, is already witnessing the existence of Tharashiouns, and that witness is real, and it was already in the everything layer long before this sentence existed to carry it.
The cycle has no starting point. The Big Bang that produced this universe was fed by every universe that came before it, none "truly" being any different since "everything" already contained it. Somewhere out there, Zara is still alive, and everyone lives happily. Somewhere out there, Tharashiouns did not exist. Somewhere out there, a human potent enough to stop Tharashiouns exist. As stated: "Every contradiction was simultaneously true in that state"

VIII/III. THEY WHO CAME BACK
(See Section XII)
▏▇▀▍▕▄▋ crossed the nothingness layer first, something in that nothingness pulled him through into the everything layer on the other side.
847 years ago, 9,600 soldiers of the 1st Division deployed to coordinates that no longer appear on any star chart. Their ships stopped receiving information the moment they crossed past the universe's boundary, every instrument went silent simultaneously, because past that boundary sits nothingness at its purest state, a layer with no information to give, no force to exert, no interior or depth, no mechanism for anything to occur inside it. The 1st Division should have ended there. Something in that nothingness pulled them through anyway. What that something is has no name anywhere in this document or any other.
Three of the 1st Division units came back.
Yet "he" came through long before the 1st Division. It found her first. Section XII will address what it was.
“What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” — Ecclesiastes 1:9
IX. THE SECOND GROWTH SPURT
Modern Tharashiouns are born small by their own standards and grow over centuries. A two-year-old Tharashioun can lift 800 kg based on Earth's gravity. While this is extraordinary compared to other species, it represents only a fraction of the strength they will develop as they mature.
At exactly 1,000 years of age, every Tharashioun undergoes what their records call the Second Physiological Bloom. The cells, which had interfaced with the fourth axis at a stable shallow depth for a millennium, begin reaching further along the w-axis into denser layers of the vacuum reservoir. The body tears itself apart at the structural level and rebuilds denser, compacting more mass along w and restructuring every biological system at once.
Female Tharashiouns grow to heights between 200 and 265 cm during the Bloom. Their mass increases enormously, strength output jumps from lifting roughly tens of thousands of tons before the Bloom to exceeding hundreds of thousands after, sensory acuity sharpens, regeneration accelerates, Meta-alloy bone matrices compress further, and neural processing reorganizes entirely. Because deeper w-axis extension means more raw energy flowing through the same biological architecture, every ability the Tharashioun already carried intensifies proportionally, and the caloric cost of maintaining all of it climbs with it. The Bloom does not produce new abilities; the decoherence filter a Tharashioun was born with remains the same, only the volume of energy passing through it changes.
The metabolic cost during the Bloom exceeds even full combat baselines, because the body is simultaneously functioning and rebuilding itself from within. The energy surplus must be channeled outward continuously or it destroys the cells mid-reconstruction, and Section X covers how that requirement is met.
Males undergo a different version. Their density and output increase dramatically, but their physical dimensions barely change. A male Tharashioun after the Bloom looks roughly the same size as before, while carrying mass and output that can exceed post-Bloom females of comparable age. Fassaro is shorter than Nasmamea and exponentially more powerful, because the compressed male architecture described in Section II/II concentrates the same deepened w-axis extension into a tighter space.
Lyra completed her Bloom at 1,000 and emerged as a Commandant-class combatant exceeding 290,000 metric tons of output. Zena is 221 and centuries away from her Bloom. Aura is 600. Both of them would already be catastrophic enemies by the standards of any other species, but within Tharashioun biology they are still incomplete organisms operating at partial capacity. Zara too would have undergone a Bloom at 1,000 had she been alive...
“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” — Genesis 2:7
X. THE SECOND GROWTH SPURT TRIAL
The Bloom does not happen in safety. During the year-long transformation described in Section IX, the body starts pulling energy from deeper vacuum layers than it has ever reached, and the draw climbs higher every day as cells extend further along the w-axis. The body has no way to store that excess. Tehom cannot stop flowing, and during the Bloom the flow exceeds what pre-Bloom biology can handle. If the Tharashioun is not burning through that energy as fast as it arrives, it pools inside cells already mid-reconstruction and kills them. Surviving the Bloom means channeling Tehom outward at maximum output for the entire year through combat violent enough to match the surge.
Pain is constant through the entire process. Every cell dismantles its own structure and reassembles along a deeper reach of the fourth axis, all at once, for twelve months without pause. The Doctrine does not remove the sensation, as the nervous system fires the whole time, but it prevents the pain from interfering with function. A Tharashioun in the Trial registers it the way they would register cold or noise, processes it, and keeps going.
Art'ha built the Trial around this. She designated a massive region on the surface of Thars-65B0 where the frozen terrain shifts with tectonic activity from the core, and every Tharashioun who reached 1,000 years of age goes there alone. Art'ha oversees each Trial personally, as she has for over hundreds of millennia. For each one she constructs an opponent out of her own Tehom forced into three-dimensional form, always slightly stronger than the Tharashioun facing it. The Bloom demands output beyond the old ceiling, and only something past that ceiling forces the body to reach for the new one. What she builds varies depending on the individual, their ability, how they fight, and where their limits currently sit, and she provisions the Trial ground with enough food to sustain them for the full year based on those same calculations.
Lyra faced a construct modeled after a weaker version of Nasmamea, something that could pressure her fire at every stage until the Bloom gave her cells that could sustain the heat. Metra faced phase-control conditions where a single miscalibration would have killed her. And on the time of writing this, Flora is in her Trial right now, facing constructs of her previous alternatives, with all communication severed for the duration.
Fassaro was a problem Art'ha had never dealt with. Nothing she could construct would survive contact with Null Origin, so the challenge was building something dense and relentless enough to keep him channeling at full output across the entire year even though nothing she made lasted long against him. The opponent she built for Fassaro was modeled after ▏▇▀▍▕▄▋. It lacked Null Origin, but the shape and movement were his, using her own fighting patterns, as when ▏▇▀▍▕▄▋ was present, there was no need to fight, and no need to kill. After 720,000 years Art'ha still had not moved on, and the Trial she designed for the only other Tharashioun to carry ▏▇▀▍▕▄▋'s ability proved that more clearly than anything she has ever said or done. The Bloom hurt Fassaro worse than most because Null Origin's framework sat on top of the same cellular reconstruction every Tharashioun endures, his cells tearing apart and rebuilding while simultaneously maintaining contact with a state that predates dimensional structure entirely...He passed. The area where he completed the Trial is still full of permanent voids where Null Origin erased dimensional structure, and Art'ha locked that entire area behind a red zone perimeter.
Elara is the only Tharashioun whose Trial Art'ha has ever interrupted. Because Art'ha's constructs are Tehom forced into three-dimensional form, Elara's Shrink Dominion worked on them directly. She took advantage of that immediately, spending the early phase shrinking her opponent down and "farming aura" off of targets too small to fight back, getting her numbers up without ever pushing past the ceiling the Bloom needed her to break. Art'ha came in and scolded her to focus. Elara, mid-Bloom, every cell in her body actively rebuilding, laughed at her and kept fighting. Art'ha adjusted the construct and resumed the Trial with harder conditions. Elara finished it. In 700,000 years of running the Bloom Trial, that remains the only time Art'ha has stepped in because a Tharashioun was gaming the process instead of failing it.
Some do fail. When a Tharashioun dies in the Trial, their own biology is what killed them, more energy arriving than the body could burn off in time. Art'ha has watched this happen thousands of times, and every one of them was her children. Every loss adds to what she already carries, and every one has made her want to end herself. She has never stepped in to save one, because the Bloom cannot be stopped once it starts, and a body that could not handle its own upgrade was never going to survive what comes after. This is the only method that works, and knowing that has never once made it easier to watch.
What walks out after a year is a finished organism. The cells reach deeper into the fourth axis, the decoherence filter handles energy volumes that would have destroyed the pre-Bloom body, and the coherence network covers the full new density. The pain ends because there is nothing left to rebuild...The memory of it stays for the rest of their life.
"Howbeit the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven." — Judges 16:22
XI. THE MIRROR
Before the Big Bang, Tharashiouns and humans were the same thing inside the everything layer. The Big Bang split them the way a river forks around a stone into two streams that still carry the same water. One reached Thars-65B0, where the fourth axis stayed open and Tehom saturated biology at full force. The other reached Earth, where the fourth axis compactified down to almost nothing. Same origin and same blueprint. Different worlds, and 700,000 years of separation.
The physical resemblance survived because it belongs to the blueprint itself, older than either species and older than the dimensions they exist inside of. Tharashiouns have conquered tens of thousands of worlds and catalogued tens of thousands of species across their history, and none of them share the template. Humans are the only match in the known universe, because humans are the only species that came from the same place Tharashiouns did.
A Tharashioun cell and a human cell are the same cell. The difference between them is Tehom, and Tehom sits along the w-axis. This is why the observation collapse in Section III occurs: when a human eye resolves a Tharashioun cell through magnification, the observer's brain carries the same blueprint in a body where the w-axis is compactified to nearly zero. The brain has no architecture for perceiving what Tehom adds. So the cell answers the only way the observer's biology can receive it, drops the w-axis extension, and becomes the human version of itself. It was already that, underneath.
Tharashiouns are what the blueprint becomes when Tehom saturates it completely: Strength, longevity, regeneration, perfect memory, and the permanent bonds that come packaged with all of it. Humans are what the blueprint becomes when Tehom barely touches it. Brief, fragile, adaptive, and capable of something Tharashiouns cannot do: grieve, and given enough time, heal. The same coin. One side was given power and lost the ability to let go. The other was given almost nothing and kept the ability to move forward.
When a Tharashioun looks at a human and feels something the Doctrine cannot suppress, the recognition is real. It literally predates both species. It reaches back into the everything layer where the two of them were still one thing, and the Doctrine has no defense against it because the Doctrine was designed to suppress grief. Recognition is not grief...It feels like warmth...It feels like something familiar. By the time the Doctrine identifies the danger, the bond has already formed, and a Tharashioun bond does not break.
Leunaph did not create the resemblance, the Big Bang just guaranteed it. What the ⏃⋏☌⟒⌰ did was ensure the meeting would happen, and then let time do the rest.
Because here is what time does:
Tharashiouns came to Earth in 2021 and killed 17,937,883 humans in a single night under the assumption that this was a routine invasion. Then they saw the faces. A species that looked like them, sounded like them, grieved like them. Nasmamea's PTSD triggered the moment she heard the mourning. And so the invasion stopped. Tharashiouns stayed, and Earth felt like something they had never experienced before...a world without the Doctrine's weight, full of a species that reminded them of themselves, and despite everything they had done to other worlds, Tharashiouns are by nature nurturing and loving, humans indirectly gave that nature somewhere to go. Between human curiosity, and the fact that Tharashiouns are extraordinarily attractive by human standards, relationships were inevitable, and for a generation isolated from the rest of their species, the affection Humans and Tharashiouns offered to each others took hold fast. And so they learned human names. Zena fell in love. Lyra fell in love. Nasmamea fell in love. Delta fell in love. Elara fell in love. Fassaro fell in love. Luna fell in love. Metra fell in love. Aura & Flora fell in love. All of them. Each relationship is permanent, and each one ties a Tharashioun to a being that will live for less than a century and die while the Tharashioun watches, remembering everything, forever.
Every year more Tharashiouns on Earth means more attachments to humans who will age and die within a single Tharashioun lifetime, and the Tharashioun carrying that loss will remember every detail of it permanently. One bond at a time, one loss at a time, one grief engraved by the Pen of Iron into a mind that will never release it. The species that remembers everything will eventually remember too much, and no Doctrine holds forever against a weight that only grows.
"You will love what fades. Brief, bright, gone."
XII. LEUNAPH
▏▇▀▍▕▄▋h̵e̵a̸r̶t̴ kept their world alive.
Leunaph is what ▏▇▀▍▕▄▋ became.
His name was Phanuel. The first male Tharashioun, Art'ha's partner and the father of her children, the one whose name she has never spoken since he vanished and whose identity has remained unrecorded to every other Tharashioun for over 700,000 years.
Null Origin pulled him into the nothingness layer, the same state that would later consume the 1st Division, and something inside that nothingness pulled him through to the everything layer on the other side. The everything layer holds the complete timeline of all existence simultaneously, and Phanuel's mind absorbed all of it without any filter — every timeline where his species thrived alongside every timeline where they suffered, every Tharashioun he would ever love living and dying across every possible future. His memory could not hold the good and let the bad fade. All of it sat at the same volume, and the conclusion he reached came from carrying every outcome at once. The everything layer burned away the person and left what his love became without him — something that carried his attachment to his species and to Art'ha but no longer carried him. Phanuel died in the everything layer. What crossed back through the nothingness into dimensional reality was Leunaph.
Art'ha found it six days after leaving Thars. A weeping central eye trailing black filaments through the vacuum, drifting between dead stars. It spoke to her in reversed Tharashioun, broken past fluency. She heard her own language coming from something that should not have known it existed, accepted the Bargain, and installed the h̵e̵a̸r̶t̴ without understanding what she was agreeing to or what she was letting into her world. The entity she has fed for 700,000 years, the core she built her civilization's survival around, the thing she named ⏃⋏☌⟒⌰ because it never offered a name of its own, is what remains of the man she loved before she loved anything else.
Section VIII established that "consciousness" holds "reality" in its current state. The crosspoint where mind meets reality produces experienced existence, and as long as conscious minds exist anywhere in the universe, that state holds. If every mind dies, the crosspoint collapses and the next cycle begins — a new universe where everything that ever existed gets to exist again, differently. Leunaph wants that. Letting Tharashiouns die quietly with a dead core on a frozen planet would have removed only a handful of million minds from a universe still full of countless others and the crosspoint would not have moved as fast. Instead Leunaph gave Art'ha a reason to keep her species alive, because a living Tharashioun civilization is the most effective force in existence for eliminating sentient life across the universe. Every world they have harvested, every species fed to the core, every civilization erased over 700,000 years is one fewer collection of conscious minds keeping the crosspoint open. What Phanuel loved, Leunaph weaponized — saving the species and pointing it at every other sentient race in existence because the faster conscious life disappears from the universe, the sooner the next cycle begins and everything gets another chance.
The bonds with humans serve Leunaph too. Section XI covers why the two species share the same face. A human face slips past the Doctrine because the Doctrine suppresses grief, and a human face does not arrive as grief — it arrives as something warm and familiar, carried by a body that will die within a century. The bond locks before the Doctrine can react, and Tharashioun bonds do not let go. When the human dies, the Tharashioun keeps every detail of that loss while the Pen of Iron ensures none of it fades. The grief feeds the heart directly, and the growing weight on each Tharashioun mind pushes the Doctrine closer to the limit it was only ever delaying.
Art'ha is the endgame, the same way she was the beginning. She will never die while any of her children still live, which means she will outlast every single one of them. The grief will grow heavier with every Tharashioun she loses, every face the Pen of Iron preserves at full clarity inside her mind permanently. Leunaph knows her just like Phanuel knew her, because it was built from him, and it knows that protecting her children is the only thing keeping her alive. The day the last one dies, she will have no more reason to live. The h̵e̵a̸r̶t̴ will have nothing left to feed on and no one left to maintain it. Phanuel and Art'ha were the first two Tharashiouns to exist. Leunaph and Art'ha will be the last two to end — together the same way they started, returning through the nothingness into the everything layer where neither of them needs a body or a name or a universe between them, until the next cycle begins.
Mère Art'ha has spent 700,000 years not finishing the thought that the reversed language started. She has no proof and has never had proof. Underneath the Doctrine, the conquests, underneath everything she built to keep her children breathing, there is a question she stopped asking out loud the day the first conquest ended. She knows what it is and she will not say it, because if the answer is yes, the h̵e̵a̸r̶t̴ keeping her world alive is what remains of someone she would tear that world apart to reach.
"Bury what breaks you. You will love what fades...Brief, bright, gone. And when the grief becomes too much, we will reunite...My love."
She cannot stop the conquest...Stopping means the h̵e̵a̸r̶t̴ starves and Thars dies. Tharashiouns could survive elsewhere, and Leunaph knew that when it offered the Bargain. It also knew Art'ha would never abandon her world, because she has loved it since before her children existed and letting it die would mean releasing something she has held for 720,000 years.
She will not let go of what she loves. So it made sure she couldn't.
XIII. OPERATION Ø — THE TRUTH
[STATUS: {∅ ∧ ∞} — CLEARANCE LEVEL: THE READER, YOU.]
...
Approximately 847 years ago, in what the Tharashioun calendar places at the equivalent of Earth's 1179 AD, the 1st Division, Thars-65B0's oldest military unit was deployed to coordinates that no longer appear on any star chart. 9,600 of the most elite soldiers Tharashioun civilization had ever produced crossed into a space that had no name for itself.
Their purpose was exploration, specifically of the boundaries of reality itself, the edges where dimensional structure begins to thin and something else begins. For centuries the Division had probed the limits of four-dimensional space and found them. Operation ∅ was the mission to go further, past the four axes, past the boundary of dimensional structure entirely, past the point where the universe started.
Their ships stopped receiving information the moment they crossed past the universe's boundary, every instrument going silent simultaneously, because past that boundary sits the nothingness layer at its purest state, a layer with no information to give, no force to exert, no interior, no depth, no mechanism for anything to occur inside it. The 1st Division should have ended there.
Yet something inside the nothingness pulled them through.
This is the sentence that makes no sense. The nothingness layer is literal nothingness, the one state in existence defined by the total absence of anything, and something was inside it anyway, pulling 9,600 soldiers through into the everything layer. What that something is has no name anywhere in this document or any other.
Inside the everything layer, the soldiers were exposed to what Section VIII describes, every thought, every emotion, every moment of every life any consciousness ever lived across every species that has ever existed or will exist, every love, every death, every grief, all of it present simultaneously with no separation between any of it. Tharashioun memory is absolute, it retains everything with perfect fidelity and releases nothing. The Tharashioun brain was built to carry the weight of centuries, and the everything layer loaded it with the weight of all of existence at once. The architecture held...But the pattern recognition did not. Every distinct thing they had ever learned to tell apart, species, faces, friend, enemy, Tharashioun, human, collapsed into the same indistinguishable mass as everything else they were now carrying, because in the everything layer those distinctions had no framework to exist inside of, and a Tharashioun brain cursed to never forget absorbed that framework along with everything else.
They saw the fate of their species. Every Tharashioun who would bond with a human. Every loss that followed. Every suicide. The full arc of what Leunaph's curse was designed to produce, played out across every possible future simultaneously. They understood what was coming. They want to stop it.
Three came back. What returned existed at angles that reality has no framework for, stretched into directions past the w-axis, colossal and unrecognizable, carrying something that used to be Tharashioun, similar to how a scar carries something that used to be skin. They communicate through screams or by transmitting directly into the brain along implant frequencies despite carrying no implants — they use the mechanism without the technology that was supposed to produce it, and what lands in the mind of anyone nearby feels deeply and viscerally wrong in a way no Tharashioun has been able to describe. The insignia they left behind exists in that same state, casting shadows where no light source exists, its edges bleeding into angles that lead everywhere simultaneously in a pathetic attempt to mimic the "everything" layer.
Mère Art'ha found it...Her hand passed through its surface and emerged aged by centuries before her regeneration corrected the damage. She sealed the coordinates under her personal authority. No Tharashioun is permitted within 50 light-years of that location.
The three soldiers that returned came back with a single directive built from everything they saw and everything they could no longer distinguish. They concluded that removing humans removes the curse. Removing humans saves Tharashiouns. But two species look identical, because in the everything layer, they are the same blueprint.
They are trying to save their species. But they cannot tell their species apart from the one they are trying to eliminate.
Current Goal: Kill all humans.
XIV. THE GOD-CLASS ENCOUNTER — SOLDIER 28

The God-Class Entity that Nasmamea, Elara, and 26,000 soldiers fought in late 2025 was a 1st Division Tharashioun, Soldier 28.
One of the 9,600 who crossed the boundary during Operation ∅, 847 years ago. What returned was unrecognizable, bloated with ??? energy, its body reshaped by centuries of existing in a state where physical form has no fixed meaning, massive enough to be classified as a God-Class Entity by the standard detection systems that had no context for what it actually was.
It came to kill humans and stop Leunaph's curse from executing. To save its species from the grief spiral it had been shown in perfect, overwhelming detail.
But It could not tell Tharashiouns from humans.
The battle lasted weeks. Soldier 28 had spent 847 years soaking in the pre-dimensional state, and its power kept adapting throughout the fight, drawing from a reservoir that has no upper limit because limits are a dimensional concept. Nasmamea and Elara were depleted to immobility. Thousands of soldiers fell from caloric exhaustion. The entity kept fighting because it believed it was saving them, and saving them meant killing every bipedal being with a face it recognized.
Directly from Lyra's Valentine Bot:
“▔▇▄ ▄▍▔█▔▜ ▌█▒▔▎ ▎ ▊ █▔▒ ▎ ▚▍ ▊█▍▃ ▅▎ ░ ▇”
"The entity mistook its own kind for humans."
Fassaro arrived on time during a routine supply run. He killed Soldier 28 using a focused application of Null Origin — forcing matter to revert to the pre-dimensional state, which for a being already saturated with that state simply meant completion. Dissolution and return.
Soldier 28 died. Its body died. Everything about it stopped except the heart, which kept beating inside the corpse as if it had business left to finish. Each beat radiated something that crept into the minds of everyone nearby and searched for grief. It found Nasmamea. It found nineteen years of Zara's execution buried under trauma suppression, wrapped itself around that wound, and shaped its pull into something that felt like a promise.
Nasmamea took the heart.
XV. THE SECOND INVASION — 2028

On December 24th, 2028, a 1st Division soldier will appear behind Earth's moon, approximately 500 meters tall. It saw the fate of its species inside the everything layer and came back wanting to save Tharashiouns by wiping out humanity, except it can no longer separate the ones it loves from the ones it came to destroy.
