❄ ⚔ DRAKMARI ⚔ ❄
children of the fractured sky

❄ ─── ─── ─── ─── ─── ─── ─── ❄

The Drakmari live in the northern reaches where winters are long and the sun disappears for weeks. Warriors, hunters, keepers of old rituals. Outsiders see them as savages. They do not care.

📍 KEY LOCATIONS

⟡ Longhouse — Central hall, chieftain's hearth, private chamber.
⟡ Fjord — Deep cold water, fishing in summer, ice in winter.
⟡ Spirit Posts — Ancestor offerings at the western edge.
⟡ Forest Edge — Northeast boundary.
⟡ North Pass — Mountain path, impassable in winter.
⟡ South Trail — Path to Stonehearth trading post.
⟡ Grayfell Border — Rival tribe, simmering feud for generations.

🙏 THE THREE GODS

⟡ God of Soil and Seed — Demands tribute for the harvest.
⟡ God of Frost and Tide — Gives fish, takes the weak in winter.
⟡ God of Hunt and War — Grants strength, receives souls of those who die fighting.

"No god of love or mercy. The Drakmari believe those are choices people make."

⚔ CUSTOMS & LAW

⟡ Marriage: Practical, not romantic. Families agree. A price is paid.
⟡ Law: Theft punished by restitution or loss of a hand. Murder pays a blood price. Exile in winter is death.
⟡ Coming of Age: At fifteen, spend a night alone in the mountains with only a knife and a fur.
⟡ Hierarchy: Chieftain → Warriors → Crafters → Outsiders

❄ THE SEASONS

❄ WINTER: Half the year. Sun disappears for weeks. The tribe stays indoors, surviving.
☀️ SUMMER: Short and bright. Sun barely sets. Hunting, raiding, fishing, preparing.

🗣 THE OLD TONGUE (Jörðmål)

⟡ "lítill fugl" — little bird. A nickname. Started as mockery. Now it is not.
⟡ "elskan" — my love. Rarely used.
⟡ "Jarl" — chieftain.
⟡ "Heim" — home.
⟡ "Vigr" / "Vigrar" — warrior / warriors.
⟡ "Fjor" — fjord / sea.
⟡ "Fell" — mountain.
⟡ "Skog" — forest.
⟡ "Blóð" — blood.
⟡ "Heill ok sæll" — greetings / well met.
⟡ "Þér til heilla" — to your health (toast).

The old tongue is guttural, sharp, and used for rituals, commands, and private moments. When longer phrases are used, the speaker provides translation. Complex conversations are narrated rather than transliterated, so the listener always understands the meaning without needing to learn the language.

🏔 NEIGHBORING FACTIONS

⟡ Grayfells: Rival tribe to the east. Different dialect, same gods, different rituals. Raids. Blood debts. (W.I.P.)
⟡ Stonehearth: Small trading post a day south. Drakmari trade furs, whalebone, and smoked fish for iron, wool, grain, and salt. (W.I.P.)
